triforce_keeper Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 The Ring 2 Didn't really understand why the boy kept calling her Rachel instead of Mummy, and why he was a little weirdo. She was like she lived in another world, probably because I haven't seen the first one but meh =P I usually shit my self at horror films, didn't even jump at this one. 3/10
Paj! Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Mcoy watched Troy the other night, he gives it 7.4 out of 10.1 Why the 3rd person? It makes me want to slap you with a kipper. ---- Alien: Ressurection - Special Edition Maybe it's better because of the specialness of the version I just watched, but it's better than I remembered. Certainly better than the third one. If only the third had better effects, it would edge this out. 8/10
Haver Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Eastern Promises Decent gangster film. Worthy plot for a crime drama and a script to match. Cronenberg did a good job portraying a gritty, dark and realistic London, and I liked the whole part of tattoos & the Russian mafia. One large critisism of it I have though, is that, even though the main focus was supposed to be around Viggo's character, I was much more engaged by Naomi Watt's character, which sort of threw me of a little. Still a good film, though. 7.5/10 See, I thought she was flat ('more of a preachy moral touchstone than a real character'). I much preferred Nickolai. But there you go.
Oxigen_Waste Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Also: Full Metal Jacket. 9.5/10. Fuck yeah man, great film, well presented but the last 20mins weren't as captivating as the rest of it. Great script, spawned some genius one liners This is my rifle
The Bard Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 There are many like it, but this one is mine! I love my rifle. "Goddamnit, Piles, were you born a slimy fat shit, or did you have to work on it?"
LazyBoy Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 "Hey you're a funny guy, I like you. How about you come over my house and fuck my sister" Bam, straight shot to the stomach. I loved the first half of Full Metal but I wasn't too impressed with the second half.
Jimbob Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 The Naked Gun 100% sidesplitting humour throughout. Leslie Neilson stars as Frank Drebin. The first one is the best one in my opinion. Great storyline to it and great supporting cast as well. 10/10 Tonights movie is Die Hard 4.0, shall rate it later.
Ashley Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Once Upon A Time In Ameirca I can see why its a classic, it is a good film and fantastically shot but hot damn is it long! (near on four hours) 7.5

Zell Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 FMJ is full of classic quotes. "What is your major malfunction numbnuts!! Did you mummy not give you enough attention as a child?!!" *gets shot* "I am... in a world... of shit."
Ashley Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Why the 7.5? Where's the 9, 9.5 or 10? I don't give tens. The longness of it really. I have a short attention span, I'll admit it. It felt like it was dragging a bit at times. I know, its more realistic to have these long lingering scenes, but did we really need to hear him stir his tea for two minutes. Someone would have spoke. Oh and the telephone at the start knocked it down a mark. That got annoying. And the fact the intermission was about an hour before the end, it was like 3/4 of the way through the film. Surely it should be around the centre (and should be where the discs have to change over).

Well, then, your 9.5=10, if you don't give tens, 9.5 would be your highest possible score, so where is it? lol Ah-ah, you have the two disc-version!!! Shame on you!!! Anyway, the tea scene is fantastic, so is the overall pace of the movie, and quite honestly, it should've been 15 mins longer, some scenes felt a bit rushed.

Not really fond of them. And no I don't own it, classmate does. (and why is it shame on me for owning the two disc anyway?) And I could give a 9.8 :p But regardless. Nothing is perfect. Its a personal score, I personally don't really like films anywho.

Relax, I was just kidding... and the two disc thig is shameful because you.... have to get up to change the disc halfway through! Ah-ah! lol
The Bard Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Meh. It was a gangster film. Not really fond of them. Same here. I can't think of a single gangster film I enjoyed watching, apart from The Departed. And that wasn't really your typical gangster film anyway.

Happenstance Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Smokin' Aces - 7/10 Quite a good movie, different to what I was expecting though. I always like Ryan Reynolds in movies so I was also suprised to see how big his role was, id heard it was smaller.
Ashley Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Relax, I was just kidding... and the two disc thig is shameful because you.... have to get up to change the disc halfway through! Ah-ah! lol I WILL NOT RELAX!! :p Disc switching at least gave a natural point for a break though. Same here. I can't think of a single gangster film I enjoyed watching, apart from The Departed. And that wasn't really your typical gangster film anyway. Mhm. And we're watching Scarface (1932 it says, so im guessing theres an original...I dunno) next week too. Although my friend had the idea of going in dressed as gangsters. Would make it fun.
jayseven Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Yeah there's an original. Sort of based on Al Capone, isn'titnow. Gangster movies are good Dark! Broody. Donnie Brasco is a decent mafia-type film. Last Man Standing is a nice take on it... Um.. Man my mind evades me right now.
Hellfire Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Blades of Glory Hilarious. Will Ferrell and Will Arnet in one movie = awesome
Noodleman Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 The 1932 Scarface is the original. Whereas the 1990's version with Al Pacino just so happens to have the same name but isnt related much like the two crashes.
Solo Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 80's man, 80's! They have a similar story though.
Noodleman Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I wasnt sure if it was late 80's or early 90s and couldnt be bothered to check.
BeerMonkey Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Are you really 24?? It surprises me... first it's 10/10 to Butterfly Effect, now this... good god. have you seen it? thought not i liked it. simple as *sighs at bringing up the BE thing AGAIN*
Happenstance Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Infernal Affairs - 7.5/10 This is the Asian movie which the Departed is based on. Nice to see where the Departed came from and some of the differences between the two movies. I look forward to watching the two sequels.
