Yeah the only thing I really want is the GameCube controller. Still not sure when/if I'm getting the console but I know the controller will be a pain to get.

You need to purchase a Switch 2 to be able to buy the GameCube controller.

I'm not sure that's actually true; I believe the only people able to pre-order the GameCube NSO controller for now are those who had an invite to pre-order the Switch 2, don't think I've read anything specifying that a pre-order of the Switch 2 was necessary (at least for the UK store – I'm not sure if this is also true for others).

EDIT: just a screenshot of the wording they use -

Argos.

As in... Switch 2 consoles, available for pre-order.

I got an order in, it's processing.

These went up at 10:30 while I was in a team meeting and they're still up at the time of this message. Smyths seems to be getting stock added intermittently too, seems like those reports of there being ample stock available is true – just seems like it's being rolled out in waves, which is the smart thing from a business perspective (limits potential reach of scalpers, creates scarcity, etc.).

Links to the Argos pre-orders for those curious (standalone, Mario Kart World bundle)

Just hope the same holds true for the GameCube controller with it being a Nintendo Store exclusive and all, fingers crossed!

Glad to hear you got your order in too @S.C.G :peace:

Managed to snag a GameCube controller fairly quickly after waiting 30 seconds in a queue of 12 people.  Definitely going to try and source the system locally on launch day though. Managed to get the OLED with zero issues on day 1 here, so I hope the same will be true of this one.

Got my pre-order in as well at the Nintendo Store, woop woop! Seeing messages on discord though of people not receiving their verification code so looks like it's not a waterproof system, but at least they have a system to prevent scalping or at least give a lot of customers a chance to pre-order.

Didn't realize the GC controller was available already, thought that was coming later. So logged in again and pre-ordered the GC controller as well.

General pre-orders have opened up via Amazon UK, only the standalone console for now:

Nintendo Store kerfuffle aside (for the GCN NSO controller and what would still probably be my first choice for the console itself if available for delivery at launch when things start to open up), that's me pretty much done with a backup in place!

UPDATE: bundle added to Amazon UK as soon as I post -

WTF!?!? You can only buy a max of two GCN NSO controllers!? WHY!?

That’s so dumb!! You could buy 4 N64 NSO controllers at launch!! What gives!?!?

How are you supposed to do a full 4 player GCN NSO setup!?

Anyway.  My preorder is done… My wallet is crying

Probably so that they don't immediately sell out before more waves of invites are sent/it hits general sale :p

Managed to preorder the MK bundle via Argos, but I sure do want that GCN controller too...

Same here, I think that controller and a case will be the only extras I buy.

Seen a couple of people mention that they've had invites to pre-order from the Nintendo Store today after not receiving an invite in the initial wave. The initial wave of invites are valid from 8th April (yesterday) to 11th April (Friday).

So it might be worth keeping an eye on your emails in the coming days if you're holding out for a Nintendo Store pre-order (be it for the console or GCN NSO controller) as you might be getting an invite! :peace:

What does the M in MNS stand for?

Also I've not seen that carrying case before. They should have made it look more like a GameCube the cowards!

My Nintendo Store, I believe.

They seem to put the MNS Exclusive tag on things like the GameCube NSO controller, to make it clear that you can only order it from there, though the fact that other retailers listed the GameCube NSO controller as well is... confusing, I'm not sure if those will be honoured by the retailers, unless Nintendo made a few extra to sell to a few select outlets.

If so, maybe that's why they are limited to two per NSO account for life-time purchase.

Nintendo did send me an e-mail in the end, this was after I pre-ordered the console on Argos... so I ordered another one, and the GC controller, as chances are, one of my brothers will want the Switch 2 at launch, so I'll keep both pre-orders for now.

Though I'll be steadily going through my collection, and selling games on a daily basis from now until June (at least) to make sure I have enough funds to afford it on launch.

I missed out on all the bundles going up the past couple of days but seeing The Game Collection have another round yesterday at least makes me think the standalone that I got an order in for earlier in the week is safe.  Still pointlessly holding out for a MNS invite though.
