We have created a trio of hosts, londragon,Nekunando, andNicktendo, and the hope is to produce a weekly podcast, called N-E Cafe, as a subsidiary program to the main website that produces a similar show to what we did previously for 41 episodes, plus bonuses, on the Nintendo Review Podcast.  We were proud of the content we produced and are looking forward to do the same again with the N-Europe logo attached.

Schedules have changed and our current recording times are on a Sunday, 9am UK time zone, with each podcast episode releasing on the Tuesday that follows.

There will be weeks when one of us three won't be available, if anyone is interested in becoming a backup, post your interest.  Time however, is important.  I'm situated in Taiwan, Nick in Latvia and Greg in the UK.

If there are any topics or general questions that you'd like to see us tackle, drop it here, or at one of the social media links.  We'll answer them in the Listener Questions section.

Feedback of any kind is much appreciated, as is a positive review, wink wink, and likes across all podcast providers which help with visibility.

Hey! I just had a listen to some of your older stuff and it sounds great :)

I'm not the one in the position to give the go ahead for the main site tie-in but I'll be happy to do the legwork if needed to put it there.

Wait, so this place is going from having no podcasts at all to now having two at the same time? Is this something that the staff have discussed in the staff boards and have agreed on? Seems a bit weird. Surely there's going to be some repeated discussions within the two shows. For example, if a Direct was to drop then I'd imagine it would be the main discussion point on both podcasts.

We've had a thread in the staff area for a few months now and I will say what I said there, I'm happy to help with any Podcast for N-Europe, if that means working on both then so be it.

@londragon @nekunando & @Nicktendo clearly have a fair bit of experience from Nintendo Review and I think continuing in a similar way under the N-Europe brand is a good idea.

To be fair though, @LazyBoy @Jonnas & @Vileplume2000 plus myself Nicktendo & nekunando (again) have made some good progress with 'A Smashing Cast' in the past week.

I'm keen to make both podcasts work if we can, whether that means keeping an overall 'brand' and still having two different podcasts with different angles perhaps or something else? I don't know the specifics of how we'll make this work but I think if we can then that would be excellent, I think this site has needed something like this for a long time and I really do feel that there's room for both, it's just going to be interesting to see how we can go about it. :D

It's important to remember that no final decisions have been made yet, it's not my place to decide ultimately either but I believe @Ashley is keen to see where this all goes and we have a fair few N-E staff and forum members keen to help out where they can as both @Glen-i and @RedShell have offered to help as well facilitating the Smash games and producing the graphics respectively, plus Red has given me some tips on how to get started with video editing which I'm keen to do very soon. :peace:

So just like with the main site with articles, news and reviews posting, everyone here has my support on the video/audio front and I'll do my best to assist where required.

Exciting times indeed.

Cheers, that means a lot. Wanted to try a few podcasts at least, see what everyone thinks of it. Get some feedback, and make a good product that the site can be proud of. There is definitely room for two podcasts within the same site, especially as they are doing something different at heart. We’ll be a more traditional formula of news, what we’ve been playing and a big topic or question. Trying to keep it under an hour, best for me would be around the 45 minute mark, so a shorter form, but keeping to weekly at all costs.

I suppose during busy E3/Direct periods there would be an overlap of ideas and content, but for the majority of the time both podcasts seem to be cutting an individual identity. More content can surely only be a positive for the site and the forums.
Give it time for both of them to find their feet and changing formulae as they move on, carving their own identity, I’m sure they won’t step on the others toes very much at all.

The Smashing Cast is more of a sort of roundtable, just everyone chatting about what they've been playing while playing Smash in the background. We did the test run on Wednesday and it seemed to work pretty well. Obviously it suits YouTube quite well. Every week will have a theme.

We're going to be doing more of a traditional podcast, similar to Sacred Symbols. Bit of news, new releases, game discussion and then some questions. We'll have the occasional trivia segment thrown in every once in a while. This is the only Nintendo Podcast where F-Zero and WaveRace are mentioned every week without fail.

Around Directs we usually do predictions, live discussion over the Direct, and then analysis a couple of days later. It's a lot of work, but it's really fun.

Having done the main podcast for a while now and having taken part in the trial run of the other, I can say they are very different.

I know. It was one of the few reasons why I dropped the podcast from my weekly listening list. :p

Just a heads up.  Our first podcast recording is now scheduled for the 5th of November.  A week later than planned, but I was pushing things, maybe a little too fast, and unforseen circumstances cropped up resulting in a little delay.  Will keep you all posted.

Recording our first podcast this coming week, so I’m making a last request for any listener questions you’d like us to chat about.

Logo looks good and this sounds like a great idea. There’s certainly room for 2 separate podcasts.  I listen to some sites that have multiple podcasts, sometimes with different staff, sometimes the same, and it works fine. If talk is interesting then it doesn’t matter if some topics are duplicated.

I’m happy to contribute, although it looks as though there are plenty of offers, and for me it would make more sense for it to be staffers (although of course if there are ever any spaces on the staff... 😂).

Couple of listener questions if you want them:

~ With the rumours of Terry Bogurt joining the Smash Bros cast this shortly, which fighter do you think will be announced next and when?

~ Nintendo chief Furukawa was recently quoted as wanting more 3DS franchises on Switch. Which franchises would you like to see appear?

Thanks.  We always want listener questions, so give the podcast a listen where we'll broach one of these, and a shoutout.

Cheers.

So recording of the first podcast is now complete. I don’t want to blow my own trumpet, but, okay maybe I do want to blow my own trumpet, it all went smoothly and we think we sounded great. Within the next two days the podcast should be up on SoundCloud. I’ll give you a heads up when it is available and it should take the other podcast providers like iTunes, stitcher, Google Play about a week to verify and post it up at their sites. Excited to see what you all think. Feedback is wanted.

NIck has been blinding in editing.  And I've just posted the podcast up at SoundCloud.  Find it at the opening post, or more specifically, here:

Have a listen and see what you all think.

Is it worth posting it up at the main site, if so I can send the file to one of the staff, @S.C.G, or someone else.  N-Europe's Youtube channel.  I'm starting to post to iTunes, etc, but that takes time.

I already proposed posting it on the main site in the staff section, so I can get to that tonight with a nice introduction plus the first episode.

I can always embed the SoundCloud, but I think in the end you want it on as many outlets as possible so I would definitely put it on the NE YouTube. I don't have that access but I'm sure we can find someone who has.

Anyway, awesome. I'll give it a listen soon!

I've just about finished listening to most of the podcast while uploading the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roundup article and I think you've all done an excellent job. :)

I think it will probably be easier to embed it once it's available either on a YouTube channel or hopefully the N-Europe YouTube channel, assuming @Ashley is OK with this? :D

It would be a huge benefit to have N-E Cafe as the main podcast I feel, and then with A Smashing Cast being more about Smash and general gaming chat, they'd work well together.

I'm excited for the future of both types of Casts and I think this can only be a good thing for the future of the main site and the forums. :peace:

..and not a single mention of Wave Race, @Hero-of-Time

Don't worry, I think that was made up for in the test episode of A Smashing Cast where I'm certain it was mentioned at one point. :D

Nope. Not falling for that. You lost me as a listener a long time ago. :p

Honestly, though.. it never came up

I'll make up for it next time..

I subscribed through SoundCloud.  Just listened to it & I think everyone involved has done an excellent job!  I enjoyed the discussion to the rather good listener question too! 😜

I was impressed with the quality of the music and transitions between sections.  The discussions started flowing better as the Podcast went on and I found it very listenable.  I enjoyed all three of you & your opinions - it didn’t sound forced to me.

Anyway, you don’t need a review from me - fantastic job & I recommend anyone reading this to give it a listen.
