Rez, maaann, you have a lot of files on your desktop, is it not a nightmare to login? :heh:

Heh heh, yeah theres a few...but they are all important.

Pretty much the whole desktop was filled last week with Iron Man trailer videos and such. :p

I had no idea that having little/no files on the desktop was the norm. I save way too many images off the net, for no reason.

I've now changed it to;

I recommend setting up a folder called stuff or something like that and every once and a while throw everything unimportant on your desktop in there.

Alternatively, you could use 'My Documents' or whatever the equivalent on Apple is.

That is, if there is a 'My Documents' equivalent on Apple. I don't know.

When you log in windows has to load your profile. Your desktop items are included in that.

You'd be better to stick a folder somewhere off your desktop profile and put a shortcut to it on your desktop (ie right click>new>shortcut). It is in effect the same thing other than the fact your stuff is stored off your desktop profile. And you don't have to move your stuff out periodically.

On a Mac you have these folders within your home directory.

Documents-Desktop-Downloads-Library-Movies-Music-Pictures-Public-Sites

Though most of the stuff I have in my stuff folder is too pointless to organize into those.
