Fierce_LiNk Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 This is doing the rounds at the moment. Fox may be bringing back the X-Files with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in the lead roles. Hnnnnnnng. Please be true. Numerous links here and here. Oh my, hnnnng. There's also talk of...more Prison Break? Dunno what to make of that one.
somme Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Yeah I was chatting about with some friends that are also big X Files fans. I was wondering if they'd keep the monster-of-the-week style or modernise the show.
Guy Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 At this point the mythology is awful, so Monster of the Week would suit me just fine. We all know it'll be mythology though if it does come back...
Cube Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 http://www.ew.com/article/2015/03/24/x-files-return Officially returning for six episodes. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson starring. So not a reboot, an actual continuation.
Agent Gibbs Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 theres a reaction gif i so want to use.....Randy Marsh and a very messy computer
EEVILMURRAY Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Yeah I was chatting about with some friends that are also big X Files fans. I was wondering if they'd keep the monster-of-the-week style or modernise the show. I always preferred the monster* of the week instead of the internal politics. When there seems to be a conspiracy/old case of the boss which comes in, then you know things are nearing the end. *case/whatever's relevant for series
gaggle64 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I don't know. I love me some X-files but it was such a product of it's time. Them late 90's cellphones.
somme Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 When it started they didn't even have cell phones. (If my memory serves me well.)
Wii Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 It's about doable. At least it's not like a Dallas wait and Gillian looks alright still. Put it this way, I wouldn't say no. A bit wary, they'll do do it for the pay deal but will it be as good or cared about this time around?
bob Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Oh well if Gillian looks alright, they'd be stupid not to be! Best make it before all her bits start heading south!
Fierce_LiNk Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 I can't believe this is actually happening. The only downside is that it's just for 6 episodes. I'm hopeful that if the new series turns out to be good that they'll end up creating more of it. I'm sure that there is a big fan base out there for this still.
Pancake Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Best make it before all her bits start heading south! Whuuuut. Like you could even tell in those trouser suits anyway?? I want monster of the week SO BAD.
somme Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Oh well if Gillian looks alright, they'd be stupid not to be! Best make it before all her bits start heading south! Wow. I hope this was a joke.
Fierce_LiNk Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Wow. I hope this was a joke. Nothing that Bob says is serious. I'm going to change the title.
somme Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 In a recent interview Duchovny said they didn't bring it back just to stop again. So if the ratings are good we can expect more seasons, but short seasons.
Happenstance Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I still dont understand how this is supposed to tie into the revelations from the final episode of the original series
somme Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I've not watched the trailer but it really wouldn't be that hard to write new twists into it. How many times were they wrong before/force fed the wrong information. And I assume Aliens have free will and could just have changed their minds/delayed their plans.

Nah, I like to think that the aliens are a race of servere OCD suffers and these changes are driving them crazy.
somme Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 To be honest I always preferred The X Files "monster of the week" episodes anyway. Either way I wonder how long it will take for Scully to forget she's ever seen any evidence of the paranormal and go back to thinking Mulder is a mental.
Fierce_LiNk Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 I can't wait for this. Sméagol Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Reviews apparently aren't great (.. quite the contrary I believe, but I haven't looked into it much). Still looking forward to it though. It'll be one of the few things I'll watch on traditional television this year, and the first thing in years I'll watch on a commercial network.
Eenuh Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 For anyone wishing to catch up on the whole X-Files timeline in regards to the aliens colonizing the earth, here is a good infographic: http://www.outerplaces.com/xfiles-timeline/ I had forgotten about half of the stuff on there to be honest!
Guy Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Hoping to fit in a double bill of the opener and second episode sometime this week, haven't heard amazing things about the opener but apparently two and three are a return to form. Bring it on!
