Serebii Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 That would be pretty surprising, considering that the Wii U currently has no support for USB controllers (even the Pro Controller still communicates via Bluetooth when plugged in). Unless it connects via the GCN controller adapter perhaps, but that's just absurd :p Seems like it would be much easier for all involved if it was just a reskinned Classic Controller, like most Wii/Wii U accessories. There's zero noticeable latency with Nintendo's wireless controllers anyway :p Protocols for it could be included in the game
Dcubed Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Protocols for it could be included in the game Oh of course it could well be. It just seems strange that they'd bother to take the time and effort when it would be so much easier to just treat it as if it were a Classic Controller.
Pestneb Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 The simplicity. With the 150 I knew which pokemon I had and which I was yet to capture. With X/Y I need to use the pokedex to see a blank space.. and really can't be bothered finding them all. Possibly that is because since the originals, X/Y is the first game I tried, so I guess the learning curve was much steeper. But that perhaps would be my point - that the originals were far more accessible.

But the entire idea for it is to be wired for lack of latency.
Dcubed Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1162682 Confirmation of local play. As I suspected, one player plays on the TV and the other plays on the Gamepad with their own, private, seperate perspective. Just like the arcade cabinet

Dcubed Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 And people bitching, naturally "Waaaa I don't want to use the GamePad in an actual useful way" :p You need to learn to just ignore those people :p It's a no-brainer. From the very beginning when I saw the game, I said that this is exactly the way it was going to work. It's the only realistic way it can work (each player is supposed to have their own private perspective). You can't do that with splitscreen!
Guy Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Works for me as long as the game runs smoothly. Most games I've tried with independent displays on tv/gamepad run like anus.
Hero-of-Time Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 New character to be revealed on the 15th January. From Gaf. The hint is that it contains the "ラ" character, which is "ra/la"
Serebii Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 ra/la... hmmm Raichu? Lapras? I've no idea. Lapras is a Support Pokémon so that won't happen Here's a list of eligible Pokémon. Not counting NFE Pokémon (aside from ones like Scyther). Raticate Raichu Vileplume Parasect Tentacruel Slowbro Kingler Marowak Hitmonchan Hitmonlee Kangaskhan Scyther Jynx Gyarados Aerodactyl Lanturn Umbreon Granbull Heracross Kingdra Hitmontop Raikou Tyranitar Swampert Mightyena Sableye Aggron Manectric Plusle Flygon Gorebyss Relicanth Luvdisc Latios Latias Groudon Luxray Rampardos Drifblim Honchkrow Chatot Drapion Lumineon Gliscor Heatran Giratina Darkrai Stoutland Zebstrika Scolipede Basculin Maractus Sigilyph Carracosta Cincinno Reuniclus Vanilluxe Galvantula Chandelure Heatmor Hydreigon Terrakion Reshiram Landorus Floette Florges Malamar Dragalge Tyrantrum Smart money is on Swampert

Pikachu! Now with lightning tattoos all over his body
Glen-i Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Gets revealed on my birthday, huh? Hmmm... Suspicious... And the only not-Groudon Pokemon on that list Serebii posted that I actually use on my actual team is Hydreigon. And there's not a single playable Gen 5 Pokemon yet... I would totally be up for playable Hydreigon. If it's another Gen 1 Pokemon, someone's getting Dynamic Punched.
RedShell Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I can't believe Hitmonlee & Hitmonchan aren't in this already! Surely they're no-brainers for this.
Ike Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Hope it's Heracross. I agree it'll probably be Swampert to round off the 3rd gen starters.
Glen-i Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) I can't believe Hitmonlee & Hitmonchan aren't in this already! Surely they're no-brainers for this. That's what they said about Hawlucha... Look at how that turned out. I believe they're going out of their way to avoid bunching up too many of the same type. Machamp is cooler anyway. We are missing Bug and Dragon types... Edited January 9, 2016 by Glen-i
Serebii Posted January 10, 2016 Author Posted January 10, 2016 Even though it's not eligible for this one, I want Barbaracle to be in Pokkén
Ashley Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 I can't believe Hitmonlee & Hitmonchan aren't in this already! Surely they're no-brainers for this. Once they've run out of Fire Emblem characters I'm sure they'll be added.
Serebii Posted January 10, 2016 Author Posted January 10, 2016 I can't believe Hitmonlee & Hitmonchan aren't in this already! Surely they're no-brainers for this. They're trying to stay away from using Fighting-types too much.
Dcubed Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) It's not one, but THREE new Pokemon that were announced (and amazingly enough, none of them were Pikachu!) It's Garchomp, Mewtwo (not the weird Shadow one, but the normal one) and Braixen (Really? Braixen? Really?, filling in that Ivysaur slot I see :p) So Braixen gets into Pokken, Greninja gets into Smash, while Chesnaught gets... Edited January 13, 2016 by Dcubed
Serebii Posted January 13, 2016 Author Posted January 13, 2016 None of them also have the character they were hinting with, so that means we'll get a fourth on Friday
S.C.G Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 So Braixen gets into Pokken, Greninja gets into Smash, while Chesnaught gets... ...roasted on an open fire?
MindFreak Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 .. What?? That is one weird inclusion! I also wonder why they wait to publish a video of it till the 31st?
Dcubed Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 More info... http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1170905 Some modes have been announced for the Wii U version of Pokkén Tournament. First is the standard Single Battle, which has three different difficulty levels. Next is the previously announced local battle where one player plays on the GamePad and another with a standard controller. During this mode, the game will run at 30fps rather than the standard 60fps. Finally is the online mode which has rankings and competitions. It also states that you can use a LAN Cable to link two Wii Us Bugger Good news about the LAN mode, but I'm gutted to hear that they couldn't pull off 60FPS x 2 for the Gamepad local multiplayer mode...
