Murr
I guess majority of people just order their games online now and get them delivered, but at one stage we've all bought games over the shop counter. Have you bought any games for yourself, which could make people question your manhood? I can remember buying Nintendogs DS on launch day at GAME, and getting some strange looks from the guy serving me. I had nothing to say, no response just a look of... The worst I've had is in ASDA, they had some offer on games, I picked up Darkness for 360 & Cooking Mama for Wii. Getting served by a lady on the checkout and she questioned Cooking Mama and asked "Is this a game to teach you to cook? You students!" and laughed. Just an awkward laugh back and "yea" was my response. Finally when I picked up Pokemon Black & White, bought both at the same time in Tesco as that was the cheapest I found them. At the time in my work attire (There was a dress code then, shirt, shoes, trousers attire). Again at the checkout and this is all I've got, so the lady scans them on checkout, and asks... "So why do you need both then?", I just replied without sounding to excited "Oh you trade Pokemon between the games so you can Catch Them All" followed by an awkward laugh. This was the worst part... her reply. "You're buying them both for yourself then?"..... Me "Yup" I don't really care what games I buy over the checkout, it's just the interaction with the person serving that tends to be awkward. GAME's not normally too bad as on some occasions the guys serving their know what the game is and end up having it themselves too. But Women in supermarket checkouts... wow. Any strange or awkward moments when buying games that knock your manhood down a bit. *not that Pokemon knocks your manhood down, just imagine being in work attire buying both versions of the game for yourself must look odd to other people. Sméagol
I vaguely recall thinking about that (a quick look through my collection: Dewy’s adventure), but I’m more aware of this when buying fashion magazines. Though in the end I don’t care.
Beast
I get it when I buy dance games but I genuinely don't give a shit, haha. I've bought the Just Dance games, Michael Jackson: The Experience, Samba De Amigo and The Black Eyed Peas Experience and at one stage, my then-girlfriend was with me. She bought me Just Dance and the guy at the tills said "Ah, you excited to play it?" to my ex and she said "Nah, I don't play it, he does" and he's like "O...K". I told him to shut up and challenged him to a dance battle! :p I didn't really, I just shrugged. Thinking about it now, the very same guy has served me for all of the Just Dance games. Now he just asks if there's any good tunes on there, lmao. When the third one came out, I found out he bought them and said he liked them. I just find them good fun! I did buy High School Musical 3: DANCE! once but that was genuinely for my best friend since she liked the films. It was near Christmas and she said "Ah, the kids'll love that!" and I was like "Heh, yeah...they will..." lmao.
MoogleViper
None, I'm not a sissy little nancy boy. Buying girly games doesn't make you a nancy boy. Being scared of buying them because some old woman behind the counter might say something makes you a nancy boy
Shorty
Can't you trade Pokemon online now? So you don't even need a friend to get them all without buying both versions....
Dog-amoto
I bought Call of Duty for my nephew. Actually felt quite embarrassed.
Guy
The only game I ever seriously felt I'd be embarrassed to buy was Catherine on the Xbox, or one of those sex offender JRPGs covered in scantily clad little girls. Most of the times I buy Pokemon I end up chatting about the series with the cashier, lucky me. "Time to get my 'mon on again." is a nice ice breaker for Pokemon, followed by a helpless shrug. Jonnas
I don't feel embarassed when buying a game, but I do when I'm looking for one in particular and I have to say the name out loud. Simply because saying shit in English out loud makes me feel like the biggest geek. Though it reminds me of when I bought De Blob. I take the game to the counter. The guy looks at me. He looks at the game. ... *A few awkward seconds* ... "Excellent choice, I played this one myself I hope you enjoy it" Closest thing to a purchase being awkward, but ended up being pretty cool instead
bob
I had to buy some Canisten today for my SO. I looked the cashier dead in the eye as i did it, like a man.
