Hero-of-Time Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Nice to hear someone else is on the Xbox One bandwagon! Going to add you now! Will have to play FIFA sometime...and I look forward to racing your drivatar in Forza! I still haven't started Forza yet. I'm still surprised you got yourself a One. I thought a PS4 would have been first on your list.
flameboy Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I still haven't started Forza yet. I'm still surprised you got yourself a One. I thought a PS4 would have been first on your list. To be honest it doesn't sound like a surprise when I rationalize it... I owned an original xbox and some of the game on it rank as my favourite that generation (Grabbed by the Ghoulies being one such title) I plumped for PS3 at the time as a second console to supplement my Wii as the likes of Metal Gear Solid, Little Big Planet and the superior version of Burnout Paradise had more pull for me at the time than Gears of War, Mass Effect and Left 4 Dead (Halo didn't come into my reasoning I was never much of a fan of the first 2, downright hated 1 and thought 2 was meh). The current launch line ups for both consoles there is more on Xbox One I want to play: Forza, Dead Rising 3 > Killzone, Knack, Resogun Going forward I am much more excited for Titanfall and Quantum Break than I am for Infamous and The Order. Uncharted is a ways off if we are honest. Something like Project Spark is more interesting to me than Little Big Planet which I'm now over. Finally the fact that Killer Instinct came back and is pretty awesome, pleases me no end! Does this mean this gen Microsoft will tap into Rare's back catalogue more? Plus I've banged on about this before but it really is a pain in the arse that Sony don't allow for any region changing of accounts. I know if you have one parent account that's got plus etc...then anyone can play that content on a PS4 but it's a pain in the arse to have to quit out of game purely to get DLC etc...I dunno it just put me off especially if all the Gaikai magic somehow doesn't work as it's a different region when it comes to making older games you own available for streaming (via a fee I'd imagine). I definitely prefer the Xbox One controller I outright don't like the feel of the PS4 triggers something I know I'm in the minority over. Whilst the new bumpers on Xbox have taken some getting used to I still like them. I feel like it fits in the hard as a whole more egonomically than the elongated DS4. Finally....since moving to Canada and sharing my tv set up with the missus I've found than increased need for a media savvy mission. Whilst it's not quite there I feel this is a bigger step in that all encompassing direction. The OS as a result feels snappy, its more what I want from a next gen console. The fact I can pop back to the home menu and whatever I was last going is there running in a big tile. The way I can seamlessly jump between apps and resume games with such ease. Hell I love playing forza whilst having TV snapped right there. By comparison the PS4 version of XMB just feels like a chunkier more graphical version of the PS3 version it's just for me. Their games games games mantra is great but the games aren't there yet. I also see the bashing Microsoft got originally on the Xbox One as a positive now, they won't be taking anything for granted anytime soon. Remember how the PS3 was the overpriced console that got bashed at launch but arguably over time became the console despite being behind sales wise for much of the generation? I can see the same thing happening this gen but in reverse.
liger05 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Looks like I'll be defiantly getting an XB1 this year Rob Semsey @robSemsey 7m Xbox Wire today mentioned a few 2014 titles; Halo on Xbox One not listed due to official name of the next title not announced yet. Rob Semsey @robSemsey 7m Rest assured your next Halo journey WILL begin in 2014. #staycalm
flameboy Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Looks like I'll be defiantly getting an XB1 this year I must be the only person who owns an XB1 not bothered about Halo! I played the first two but didn't own a 360 so missed out on 3, Reach, ODST and 4! As a result feel I have too much to catch up on and likely never will! All about Titanfall and Destiny for me!
Happenstance Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-01-21-microsoft-paid-youtubers-to-say-nice-things-about-xbox-one-report I've not liked the way Youtubers have been taking money from companies for a while now but this just makes me trust them even less.

Yeah, read about this yesterday on Gaf. Shocking business practice but not unexpected. I imagine there are a few companies who pull this kind of stuff as well. Still doesn't make it right though.

Charlie Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 This seems a bit intentionally ambiguous, he could just be referring to the Halo TV show or something. Most other places (inc IGN) are saying that the new Halo game is due out this year. I actually quite hope it isn't as this year there is already Titanfall in March and Destiny and COD later in the year already. It would be good to spread the main FPSs around a bit. I'm planning on getting an Xbox One in time for Titanfall's release.

Yeah your right I'm 99% sure content has to marked as sponsored/paid for. Most other places (inc IGN) are saying that the new Halo game is due out this year. Corsair Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I'm pretty sure there are even laws against it, especially in the US. There are laws about it in almost all countries, if anything Europe is stricter than the US. The latest update for DR3 brings the total size of downloads to 25GB just to play the game. The game itself is 19.9GB. Titanfall looks visually atrocious even if it is an 'alpha', though it is supposed to launch in two months. I love my 360 but there is no chance in hell I will be getting an Xbone.
V. Amoleo Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Completed Dead Rising 3 before the end of last year. I really enjoyed it. I won't be downloading a 25GB patch now though. 25GB on a 500GB HDD which can't be swapped out, nonsense.
Hero-of-Time Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I finally got around to starting Max: Curse of Brotherhood yesterday. I ended up playing it for 4-5 hours straight as I couldn't put it down. Visually it looks fantastic, with the different worlds each having their own distinct feel and look. Some of the lighting is stunning in the cave levels. The gameplay I thought would be a bit fiddly put it's fine. I do think it would have suited the Wii U GamePad far more that an actual pad though. I look forward to getting back on this after work.
nekunando Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I finally got around to starting Max: Curse of Brotherhood yesterday.. I look forward to getting back on this after work. Get back to your N64
Hero-of-Time Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Get back to your N64 I played Pokemon Stadium on Saturday if that helps?
nekunando Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I played Pokemon Stadium on Saturday if that helps? It doesn't.. but Banjo Kazooie would ..but since this is an XBOX One thread I'll at least post something relevant. The name of the console seems a perfect fit seeing as One is exactly how many times I have played it..

I had considered this one but figured its launch fodder and Microsoft do pretty good digital sales so it likely be dirt cheap some day.
Charlie Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Loads of rumours flying about that came from NeoGAF regarding a price drop to $399, a white console with no disk drive, Halo 2 Anniversary edition.
Hero-of-Time Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Battery indicator is coming back! February 11 system updates On February 11, the first update will be delivered to customers who sign into their Xbox One. It features many new improvements – including lots of behind-the-scenes updates for developers building apps and games for Xbox One, several new features we believe Xbox fans will love, stability and product updates to improve the customer experience, and continuous improvements to the quality of Kinect voice so commands become more fluid and responsive over time. While we won’t be going into all of the details of the product updates today, we will be sharing more information soon. Some of the features you can expect to see on February 11 include: The ability to see and manage your storage space. With this update, you will find it easy to find how much space your content takes up and better manage your content. You can also control your install lineup and more easily manage your download queue. We’ve separated My Games and My Apps into separate lists, so you can easily create separate queues for both. Now you can pick the order in which you want your content to load and we’ve added a boot progress indicator so you can better track updates while they load. The battery power indicator is back! You can see it right on the home screen, so you can easily track how much battery life is left on your controller. And, you will be able to use your USB keyboard with your Xbox One. These are just a few of the many updates we will be shipping on February 11. We’ll share more details on these and other upcoming features in the coming weeks. We have several surprises in store that we think you’ll love. March 4 system updates – countdown to “Titanfall” On March 4, in advance of what is expected to be the biggest game launch of the year, we will be delivering another system update to prepare your Xbox One for “Titanfall.” This update will contain many new features and improvements, most significantly to our party and multiplayer systems. Available on March 11, “Titanfall” is a team-based online multiplayer game that showcases the power of Xbox Live, and we will be shipping a new party and multiplayer system that will help make “Titanfall” the must-have game for this generation. I'm hoping they revert back to something similar to the 360s party chat.
flameboy Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Battery indicator is coming back! I'm hoping they revert back to something similar to the 360s party chat. It's dumb to get excited about features that are just returning functionality but it kind of needs to be celebrated so they keep listening. I still can't believe what a mess the party system is...getting a coop seasons game on fifa can sometimes be such a ball ache.
Kaepora_Gaebora Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I was playing COD Ghosts last night on my friends One, we managed to beat the first extinction mode as a two so we are going through the second chapter, Nightfall. As we were searching item boxes for weapons upgrades, I found an ACOG Scope. I said to him, just as we planted the drill, "do you want an ACOG Scope?" All of a sudden the game screen turns blue, and the console brings up Skype!! ACOG works for any Xbox command, be warned!!
Bradleywhites Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 that is pretty weird and how to make it right .. nobody want to get it happen with them
Sheikah Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Anyone looking forward to Titanfall on the 360 will have to wait another 2 weeks longer than after the X1 version hits as apparently the last gen version needs more time. The more cynical part of me sees it as 'buy an X1'. Kind of a shame if that's the case.
