Cube Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 It's a good tactic. Same price as Xbox One, also includes the camera (casual gamers probably won't know the difference) and a free game (not as marketable in Europe as FIFA, but it still helps) and then they throw in the extra controller to make it look like better value. I'm surprised there isn't a sticker saying something like "includes 15 days of PlayStation Plus, with access to Drive Club: Plus Edition and Resogun" on it.
Sheikah Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 The extra controller is good, since they tend to cost at least £35 or more on launch (or even throughout the life of the console, in the case of the PS3...)
Happenstance Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Im not sure I will bother getting an extra controller for the PS4, I never did for the PS3. Its not like when I was younger and people would come round all the time to play eachothers games, these days if someone is coming round then I'll just get them to bring their own controller with them.
drahkon Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 No need to swap my pre-order. Traded in a shitload of games to pre-order 5 PS4 games for 50€. Will trade more games in, to get a DS4 (and maaaayyybeee the camera) for 0€. Still, this is a lovely bundle.

RRP for the controller is £55. Im not sure I will bother getting an extra controller for the PS4, I never did for the PS3. Plus when we were younger our mothers bought the extra controllers anyway
Daft Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I've ended up with three PS3 controllers. I'll definitely get a second one for the PS4. I'll be grabbing the camera, too. Just because it suits the whole social aspect.
Happenstance Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 lol £55, what are they smoking? I assume the touchpad must be driving up the price
Daft Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Also the light bar. Probably the upgraded gyroscopes and the magnetometer, too.
V. Amoleo Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 That Killzone bundle would make me move my pre-order too. I'm already buying Killzone and the camera for an extra £84 so it's a no brainer if it's going to be £429 (the same price as the Xbox One).
The Bard Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Still not really sold on either of the next gen consoles. Well, obviously more sold on the PS4 than the Xbone. None of the exclusives other than, for some reason The Order: 1886, tickle me at the moment. I think I might just upgrade my PC, octo-core AMD CPUs are pretty cheap these days, and they're almost twice the clock rate of the PS4 and XBone CPUs. The only problem is the physical memory allocation. I've got 8 gigs of ram, but they converse with the CPU and GPU via PCIe, which is obviously much slower then everything being on the same die. But to be honest, it's only a matter of time til 6-8GB GDDR5 GPUs are cheaply available.
Retro_Link Posted August 31, 2013 Author Posted August 31, 2013 Yeah, saw that earlier, it's a timed indie exclusive.
The Bard Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 It looks like butt. Unless it's a pastiche of shitty Megadrive-era anime inspired Japo trash. In which case it would be ironically butt, but butt nonetheless.
ReZourceman Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I need a red controller, but I can't justify £55 on something I won't be looking at.
Eddage Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I need a red controller, but I can't justify £55 on something I won't be looking at. Wait, controllers cost £55?!
Happenstance Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Wait, controllers cost £55?! Their RRP is £55, hopefully they will be a bit cheaper.

PS3 ones RRP'd around the £45 mark, and I don't recall ever seeing official ones for much below that sum. Certainly, for pre-order the PS4 ones are indeed £54.99 from the main places.
Sheikah Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 They should put the coloured ones in the box.

Got the red one for £30 on Amazon (third party seller) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Official-Sony-DualShock-Controller-Playstation/dp/B006ZX6DUW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378039001&sr=8-1&keywords=ps3+controller+red PS3 controllers can often be found around £35 from Shopto, Zazzi etc...

I wouldn't buy a PS3 controller from a third party seller as fakes are rife. They are pretty convincing, but overall the quality takes a hit.
Retro_Link Posted September 1, 2013 Author Posted September 1, 2013 yeah agreed. But still black ones are generally on sale for £35. @ReZourceman http://shopto.net/video%20games/ps3/PS3DU03-sony-dualshock-3-red £37.85
Retro_Link Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2013/09/02/shuhei-yoshida-introduces-the-ps4-ui-at-gamescom-2013/ One of the most memorable moments from our gamescom press conference last week was surely the sight of Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida taking the gathered audience on a tour of the new PS4 user interface live on stage from the comfort of a big old leather armchair. If you haven’t seen it yet, please do take a look at our video above to see him hop seamlessly from the PS4 home screen, into a livecast of a friend playing Killzone: Shadow Fall, before joining the game, then, finally, sending a screenshot of the session straight out to his Twitter feed. PlayStation Blog caught up with Yoshida-san the morning after the show to go into a little more detail on the PS4 UI and find out what he’s most excited for players to see come 29th November. Interview in the link.
