heroicjanitor Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Calling someone a weapon must be a complement though surely? It sounds powerful. I can see the similarity with tool but a tool seems different to me.
Cube Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Calling someone a weapon must be a complement though surely? It sounds powerful. I can see the similarity with tool but a tool seems different to me. That's what I thought, but it means exactly the same as tool. That's Stockport chavs for you.
Aimless Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I've heard "weapon" used as an adjective before, albeit only within a fairly small window in the late '90s. It had a positive connotation at the time, though. To give an example of usage, someone might remark that, "That's well weapon!" Shortly before my withering stare reduced them to ash.
Aimless Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I first came across it before that show was even written, regrettably, but thanks for reminding me where I'd heard it more recently. Also, "beast" was another word that tried to usurp "cool" for a time. It failed, just like all the rest.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Jesus, some of you guys just hate anything that's new, huh?
MadDog Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 It's not a word or phrase, but it has to be said. Deal or no Deal. Fuck me. It's disgusting.
EEVILMURRAY Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 The only time epic can apparently be used: http://thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=epic However, if it used by the right voice it can be acceptable. For example Patrick Stewart in the Money Supermarket ad.
Beast Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I first came across it before that show was even written, regrettably, but thanks for reminding me where I'd heard it more recently. Also, "beast" was another word that tried to usurp "cool" for a time. It failed, just like all the rest. I pretty much hear that all of the time. Though when you 'beast', it normally means when you're doing very well at something.
Diageo Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 The only time epic can apparently be used: http://thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=epic However, if it used by the right voice it can be acceptable. For example Patrick Stewart in the Money Supermarket ad. Well that website is bitter, angry and not funny.
The Bard Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Yeah man, Maddox functions on a staunch unwillingness to accept utterly trivial things, and his rhetoric is lapped up and taken as serious argument by his idiot fans. The guy can eat a dick.
EEVILMURRAY Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Well that website is bitter, angry and not funny. Never said it wasn't. But it's true that people use epic in non-epic situations, such as the examples he cited.
Dyson Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Half-chance. Don't get me started on this bullshit. YOU EITHER HAVE A CHANCE OR YOU DO NOT.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Yeah man, Maddox functions on a staunch unwillingness to accept utterly trivial things, and his rhetoric is lapped up and taken as serious argument by his idiot fans. The guy can eat a dick. This be the truth.
Paj! Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Just...can we just get over the little things? This thread is bringing me down. Maddox was too much. I might have to make another forgotten RnB singer of the early 00's thread to combat the negativity.
Cube Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Half-chance. Don't get me started on this bullshit. YOU EITHER HAVE A CHANCE OR YOU DO NOT. Or you could have a 50% chance.
heroicjanitor Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Or you could have a 50% chance. That still falls within having a chance :p
Shorty Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 But... there's a difference between having a 10% chance of succeeding and a 50% chance.
heroicjanitor Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I see that, it's just a description of how big your chance is. It's still a chance. Dyson just doesn't like having descriptions of how big the chance is for some reason
The Peeps Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 People who say pacifically instead of specifically. My manager does it a lot.
Coolness Bears Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 what if you geniunely can't say it? I cannot say the word adament at all. EDIT: Dammit my friend made that previous post of mine above. :p
