dwarf Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Since I've been 18 I've been using my passport for ID for pubs and stuff, and that needs to change before my holiday in Malia in 2 weeks time. What type of ID shall I go for that's quick and easy to obtain? I know a lot of you likely get away without ID, you old bastards. To make this something of interest (well not really) - do you think you look your age/are you happy with how young/old you appear?
Serebii Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Just go for a provisional driving license. I have no intention of driving any time soon, but the provisional is valid ID and so counts
Raining_again Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 driving licence since i got my hair cut i look about 16..... and i'm not far from turning 25 X(
Kurtle Squad Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 My unfortunately-still-green driving licence. Most people seem to use driving licences from my experience selling fags and alcohol. Foreigners tend to use their country's ID cards ("Seig Heil!").
jayseven Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Provisional licence is the correct choice. Taking a passport out is too risky, and it takes up loads of room. Licence sits in your wallet. Lots of areas have their own schemes running for IDs but the problem is not everywhere will accept them.
Tales Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 My credit card as I don't have a drivers licence. Will using a drivers licence work in a foreign country? They may think it's fake or something because it looks different from theirs?
Nolan Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 My license (driving, not to kill....that's in the mail) is all I use. It's all I have actually. I have no other identification with my age on it.
Retro_Link Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Drivers License My credit card as I don't have a drivers licence. Will using a drivers licence work in a foreign country? They may think it's fake or something because it looks different from theirs? A credit card?!... how can you show a credit card?! It could just be anyones.

They may think it's fake or something because it looks different from theirs? They should do. There aren't any proper foreign ID rules in the UK, acceptable IDs are supposed to have the "Pass logo", but obviously foreign cards wont. The ones I have seen/checked look legit and proper (ones belonging to my ex, "Canadian guy" and "Sexy Polish Girl"). When in Malta at 17 I didn't want to lose my passport, but they accepted my European-health-thingy card everywhere I went to get pissed; which don't have pics, but do have an age. jayseven Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Like retro says... wtf! (logically speaking, you have to be 18+ [in most cases] to have a credit card, so it always frustrates me that it's not accepted as ID. However many parents let their kids use their card to run errands, so it's fair enough) RE: Foreign ID- generally speaking an establishment doesn't have to accept foreign driving licenses, and as always they have the right to refuse custom for anyone! Actually, usually I use my beard for ID. I have lolled and pointed at it when asked for ID before.
Paj! Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Provisional driving licence. Passport on nights out is asking for trouble/loss.
Tales Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Drivers License A credit card?!... how can you show a credit card?! It could just be anyones. I don't know about Great Britain but here they have pictures, pass worthy pictures. Unless I meant debit cards. Whichever has pictures is what I meant.

Mr-Paul Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Yeah one of my flatmates in first year of uni was from Norway and they have their photo on the back of their bank card - supermarkets were always VERY confused when she wanted to buy alcohol!
Eenuh Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I use my actual ID card. People in the UK look at it a bit funny but it's been accepted every time. Can't really imagine not having an ID. I usually have it with me wherever I go (as that's what you're supposed to do really).
LegoMan1031 Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 See I thought a provisional took ages to get? It would take at LEAST 2 weeks which hence ur thread is no good. Maybe the country your going to might not be as strict with ID? I dunno! When i went Gran Canaria years ago when i was 16 i was served all the time and never asked for ID...
Raining_again Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 See I thought a provisional took ages to get? no? couple of weeks max, unless you've got some kind of medical thing (like diabetes epilepsy or sight issues) which would prevent you being accepted immediately..
Kurtle Squad Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 See I thought a provisional took ages to get? It depends. It can take anywhere from a week to a month or so (in rarer cases) from what I've read after using GOOGLE I got mine too long ago to remember. They're not as picky about photo quality as the c***s at the Passport Office though.
mcj metroid Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I simply use an age card which I applied for because I look about 4 years younger than I should. I'm 23 but I could still pull off an 18 year old
Serebii Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I had to get my picture on my redone. Places weren't accepting it. I had lost the weight, as many of you know, so pub people thought I was a 16 year old trying to use my borther's driving license. I got escorted out of a pub once because of it.
Cube Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I use my passport as I have no other ID. Never had any problems with it.

The best way to not get asked for ID is to not shave for 2-3 days before buying 18 rated goods. Though I wouldn't suggest the girls do that Don't the rest of the country get free cards similar to BITE Cards around the age of 15 or so? Edited July 1, 2011 by Kurtle Squad
