I've not been at my best and a bit absent lately(nowt to worry about folks) in addition to a relationship barney(that one's out there in the Relationships etc) but I have just had a really fucking stupid but blindingly good moment today!

I've never been a sporty guy, nor a gambling guy(well, I have in theory, but I don't particularly). Three years ago, despite my West Indian heritage, I only ever got to understand cricket for the first time watching the IPL which happens Apr/May every year whilst I was in NY. I was actually going to make a thread about it/general Cricket actually but as I said I haven't been too active recently.

Anyway, I was slightly subsequently a little late to my cousin's wedding due to the cricket match(it was her brother's fault for ending me up watching it at my other cousin's house and not leaving til it was done). My first introduction to cricket was a T20 match that ended in a tie in this league, which I didn't know was not that common in T20, and I for some reason decided the team who won the tie must be good. Sunrisers Hyderabad(SRH) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) who, at the time I did not know, have one of the biggest hitters in the game.

Turns out the Sunrisers are not that great though. Anyhow when I came back to the UK a few days later, I found out ITV4 aired the same IPL cricket league, and got hooked. In 2015 Sky got the rights which has made it really fucking hard for me to watch it, but I semi-follow the results each year. I also found out a mate of mine was semi-bothered to watch it on ITV4 too(we both just bought houses at the time, and were in and out, and found our mutual tolerance of cricket there).

BUT. Every year since 2013(and including) I've rooted for the not so good Sunrisers Hyderabad, usually putting a funsies faith bet on them as my favourite team and losing like £10. This year they opened terribly, losing their first 3/4 matches, which allowed for excellent odds on a said funsies each way bet.

They have, however, just beaten RCB in the final of the IPL as of less than an hour ago, after rising back up from that terrible start. I've never been much of a sporty man, nor gambling, but in doing so I've found myself extremely chuffed to not only see the changeable team I've rooted for for 3 years win, but I've also pocketed myself about £100 too! It's small and silly, and I'm not sure the money's even a big thing, but to see your team win is actually kind of really fucking nice. Just been a nice evening end to my rather shitty day!

tl;dr - I think I finally understand you football fellows. I definitely understand the thrill of gambling on the horses/sports and watching live etc. My brother isn't too crickety either but placed the bets as he likes horses so has the accounts, and was basically getting a text by text update on what was gwaan in the match from me. I never understood him watching and getting so much into the horses, but I do now!

(@Shorty I'll set some aside to throw in for some of that Old J at the meet if you fancy ;) )

Yet more cool shit I made at/stole from work:

The best part is, we found a piece of software that can make models like the rocket, so all I have to do is find a 3D model of something and I can make loads of things in a similar style. Radical.

Spent Tuesday-Saturday in Lisbon and had a wonderful time. I did a hell of a lot of walking (according to Google 32 miles, but I'm not sure if it measures it as the crow flies because it was hilly as fuck - wish I had a fitbit) and saw a lot of things. A friend is from there and recommended a lot of things to do so I tried to do as much as I could, while still relaxing and enjoying myself.

Friday was dia de Portugal and I intended to go to a particular viewing spot my friend recommended (Miradouro da Graça) as the sun was setting so I did that and there was a street party like thing going on and it was just such a great atmosphere. People were out having fun, dancing etc etc. It led to me posting a low-key Remain update on Facebook. Then walked down to Cais do Sodré just soaking up the atmosphere as I went down.

Gratuitous photos!

These are all technically from Sintra rather than Lisbon

On my last night I also went to a bar that was a former brothel and it had some interesting (NSFW) wallpaper.

I hope to go back some day soon. Had such a great time.

And the day after I came back our kitchen flooded because of the rain so I'm kind of wanting to move to the Med right about now.

So @Dannyboy\-the\-Dane, who I've only met in person once or twice at meets, just donated a stonking £50 to a charity thing I'm doing. Completely out of the blue.

We've got some keepers here at the forum. Thanks Danny
