martinist Posted September 28 Posted September 28 4TB external drive for a backup of a Batocera project i'm tinkering with.
Happenstance Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Needed a new keyboard as I never really ended up getting on with the full mechanical one I bought previously and was noticing a lot of miss hits when playing Diablo IV this weekend. Heard good things about Keychron and wanted a low profile keyboard so went with their Keychron K3 Max.
Emerald Emblem Posted October 8 Posted October 8 I took advantage of Prime day to upgrade from the old Sony Bravia 43" to this Hisense 55" 4K TV. Should make gaming and watching the Football from the main couch easier since it's pretty far away.

Happenstance Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Dipping my toes into board/card games. Did a bit of research over the weekend to see what was good and could be played solo. Decided on Marvel Champions but there are definitely a few others like Final Girl or Warp's Edge that I may pick up if I'm enjoying Marvel.
CrowingJoe79 Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Silent Hill 2. I like how Bloober Team has added in new scenes that you never saw in the 2001 version. 🙏

My K3 Max arrived yesterday and I love it. My original mechanical was really nice but I kept telling myself that I'm sure it'll just take time to get used to it and the mistakes will stop both in typing and gaming but they never did. With my K3 I'm seeing no issues straight off the bat. Guess I just prefer low profile.
Ashley Posted October 14 Author Posted October 14 My previous watch has been playing up for a while including the battery getting worse. When I was ill a few weeks ago I let it die off overnight rather than charge it and it never turned back on. Was going to go for another brand because I've also used Polar's chest straps and they're good at first but once you need to replace the battery they barely last a month, but I got in touch with customer services to see if there was something I wasn't doing and they offered me 50% off another so ended up with the newer model.
Happenstance Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Decided to move away from foldables again for a while until they start to get the higher camera specs they should at their price bracket and better large screen optimisation for apps. Moving from the Samsung ecosystem into the Pixel one with the Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel Watch 3. Quite enjoying it so far, this is my first Google phone since the Nexus 5. Also got some Pixel Buds Pro 2 free but they'll come later.
Happenstance Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Got my ticket to go see Babymetal next year at the O2 for their arena tour.
martinist Posted November 3 Posted November 3 (edited) I don't see a lot of Japanese bands get noticed internationally as Baby Metal has. Actually heard them played on the radio a year or so ago. I don't really know how they've managed to branch out when others haven't. Edited November 3 by martinist
Happenstance Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Its a shame as well because they've got some brilliant bands over there. I've seen Band-Maid live twice and they were amazing.
Nolan Posted December 1 Posted December 1 I’ve bought so much. The very most recently though A Third copy of Disco Elysium. I love that game and it’s $10 on Steam so go gets it people. Also on Steam Immortals of Aveum. Saw it mentioned in a YouTube video as under appreciated a few days ago and I checked out the demo and enjoyed it a fair amount. Sucks it’s EA attached, but there is a fun competent new IP shooter in it. Plus the sale has it down to $15. I just remembered this is a website that for most people their sales are different and their prices are extremely different. Anywho also got stuff to get my neglected PC running again and then got more stuff to upgrade it to be 2022 relevant ish. (SSD to bring to life and then 5700X3D and 7900 GRE for funsies)
Happenstance Posted December 11 Posted December 11 Bought some Xreal One AR glasses. I've always wanted a pair and I think this latest release has finally gotten them a point where I was happy buying them. I've tested them so far with my phone, laptop and Legion Go, all working great. They're something I can see myself chucking in a bag to use on trains or in hotels etc (they're just a bit too big to walk around town without drawing attention to yourself unlike something like the Meta glasses) but I'm also interested in trying them for work as you get get multi monitor views.
Will Posted December 15 Posted December 15 I’d be super interested to see how you get on with them over the next few weeks @Happenstance. I've been toying with getting myself a pair of the Rayban Meta glasses for Christmas but not sure whether to just go all in on something like this. Like you say I think those are a bit too much for using around town but I feel like I may find the Raybans a bit lacking.

They work really well with my laptop and other devices but there's an issue when connecting to newer Pixel devices where the glasses display just random turns off but audio continues. As using them for travel would be a big want for me, I need them to work consistently with my phone. The glasses themselves though when working were pretty great. I watched some Youtube which came out nice and crisp. Playing Spider-Man with them connected to my Legion Go worked really well. They did look a bit bigger on my face than in some Youtube videos I'd watched but I think I would have gotten used to it. The Ones seem to be the way to go as well with no extra adapters to connect. I switched between follow and anchor modes depending on what I was doing and both worked well. No motion sickness or headaches either which is always a plus.

They do look great but I would only use them occasionally I think. I decided to get the Ray-bans. Went in to the store and had a go on them and was impressed, I can actually see myself using them quite a bit for their AI and headphone bits and the cameras will be great for chasing kids around. Watching a video with someone testing the live translate looked amazing. https://www.evenrealities.com/en-GB/

There were a few things that put me off them, I don’t think the style is that great, they’re a bit google glass in that other people can see the screens and you looking at them and then the biggest one was the cost. I do think something like those will be what I end up upgrading to in the future though.

Apparently there are rumours that Google will be releasing some glasses in 2025 so hopefully that will get some more Android features into them.
