Take the "shot boy" thread, for example. I've seen threads like that turn into a discussion about the right to bear firearms, or wether videogames/media incite their use. And Dan assumed something like that wouldn't happen, right? Plus, if a thread ends up dull, it will die by itself.
Pestneb Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 really locking should be restricted to inappropriate threads, ie ones that break rules or rapidly lead towards breaking the rules. The rules should be fair and provide a clear interpretation. If a thread is poor it ought to be ignored long enough to sink into obscurity. If a thread needs locking, and doesn't break a rule, then either i)you as a mod are being unreasonable OR ii)a new rule needs to be created to prevent similar threads being created in the future.

They're morbid car crash gawping and offer no grounds for discussion, conversation or useful input in any way whatsoever. All that they ever do is turn in to a list of people saying 'this is shit' for 3 pages. Every time one comes up they're just depressing and, without fail, the worst kind of thread we ever have. Assuming he hasn't any more to add.

I think the leaders of this forum should really sit down and make a common consensus on what kind of threads will be tolerated. What are the criteria for a proper thread?
