david.dakota Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 (edited) In rather 'negative' news, IGN is reporting that Nintendo have announced that August will see a Black Wii launch - in Japan only. Also available will be black Wii Remotes, nunchuck and Classic Controller Pro. EDIT: Just Hero-of-Time here, I have added the pics to the first post to save people from having to go elsewhere Edited June 4, 2009 by Hero-of-Time
Noku Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Figures, as Japan has seen the Wii part of the pie dimishing since... well... a long time.
Patch Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Looks like dark grey to me. I know the Wii is selling fast enough not to warrant new colours over here and yada yada yada, but it would be nice if they at least released the controllers in different colours. That way, everyone in the house could feel like they have their own controller. Without using rubber skins.
darksnowman Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I'm gonna be controversial and say its black. Yup.
blender Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 they wanted to over come a dip in sales. it was a choice between releasing zelda wii and this
Falcon_BlizZACK Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Oooooooh yes.... That will go brilliantly with my Samsung TV. *drooool*
Zechs Merquise Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Well this week, without the help of the black console they're outselling PS3 again anyway. This and the Monster Hunter 3 bundle due for release in Japan will see Nintendo take this summer.
Caris Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Haha! Is it me or was there no need to bring the PS3 into a thread about a new colour Wii? (which looks mighty fine by the way). I can never understand you.
Fierce_LiNk Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I agree. Jesus, Zech. Anyway, this is a very light black (haha) but it does look mighty sweet. Here is exactly what I thought: *comes on-to KNEE* "Ooo, black Wii. Hmm, but white is superb. Why would anyone want black? *clicks onto images* "Ok, now I waaaaaaaaant one." Just look at the light. Look at that light! I'm not usually one for different coloured consoles, but this is hot.
ShadowV7 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I wanted a black Wii from the start instead of white. Now that black is coming out in Japan, i'm still wanting one
Fierce_LiNk Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 The Obama effect. Obama doesn't come with a sexy blue light. Therefore, the Wii wiiiins. I wish I had his voice, mind. Probably up there in my top five sexy voices.
Paj! Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 It looks nice there, but I have a feeling the remote would end up looking like a rubbish TV remote. I'm happy with my white one.

I can never understand you. Of course there was. As the comment above was about this being a response to the diminishing Wii sales in Japan - as PS3 has had a couple of weeks on top over there. I was pointing out that a) This week the Wii was back on top anyway b) With this and the Monster Hunter 3 bundle, not to mention Wii Sports Resort and WM+ the Wii should maintain that lead over the summer.
Hero-of-Time Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I bet Nintendo do sod all when it comes to being able to transfer stuff from one Wii to another. Im a sucker for new coloured console and if the right one comes along I will snap it up but what will happen to all of my VC games that are still on my other Wii?
Tellyn Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I bet Nintendo do sod all when it comes to being able to transfer stuff from one Wii to another. Im a sucker for new coloured console and if the right one comes along I will snap it up but what will happen to all of my VC games that are still on my other Wii? This is the thing. If I ever had enough money to warrant switching colours, my content would be entirely lost on the other console.

That was what I was worried about, I wouldn't mind a second Wii, but I wouldn't want to start on Mario Kart all over again!
Hero-of-Time Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 It looks like this next picture will be what Nintendo will be using to dominate Japan come 1st August. Its a genius move and what with the Red DSi launching alongside Dragon Quest IX Nintendo will once again watch the cash flood in.

As if Monster Hunter 3 wasn't going to be big enough for Nintendo already - this just makes it even bigger. I also love the look of the classic controller pro in black. Does anyone else think the blue glow looks even more awesome on the black Wii?

Tellyn Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 DS Chibi Robo / July 23 / 4800 Yen When did this happen? (Park Patrol came out in 2007 over there. Still no European release.)
nekunando Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 The black Wii looks very nice, but I'm perfectly happy with my white one Anyway, apparently they are also getting a blue Wii Remote and Nunchuk for Wii Sports Resort in Japan.. GoNintendo
Ganepark32 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 It looks nice but I wouldn't have had a blue light around the disc slot if I was designing. I'd have made it red because it would have looked so much better. Not really liking the look of the controllers in black though. Think I'd have to mix and match if I got a black Wii.
