God's pretty shit at being a god, if I'm to be completely honest.

Name Ooooone Person who is doing it better?

No one! See! If God were a footballer, there would obviously be some kind of sub, to come on when someone else isn't doing a good enough job. But there's no one. Jesus couldn't even make the subs bench.

"If it turns out that there is a God, I don't think that he's evil. But the worst that you can say about him is that basically he's an underachiever."

Only if you take the Bible as literally what the god (if it exists...:indeed:) actually does/thinks.

When it's obviously just made by the crackwhores of bethlehem.

Woody Allen pretty much proves there's no God anyway ;)

(well, his personal life does...presuming we take the God = good angle)

But yeah, God at best has gotten complacent. Which was nicely satirised in God, The Devil and Bob.

God isn't all bad. He's done some great things over the years. Creating Carol Vorderman is but one of the many awesome things.

Man, it's going to be ok. Whatever the problem is, I'm sure it's ok really.

There is no God! Jesus was a mortal prophet whose divinity was decided by Constantine and others. They made the Bible, they chose what to include, and tried to get rid of the rest. But it remains! The Holy Grail remains!

*goes back to reading the Da Vinci Code*

Gays can get married if they want. Just dont see why they would want 'Gods' blessing in the first place. Load of nonsense.

My oppinion on God is that you can never prove or disprove his existance. You can't prove he doesn't exist because it's impossible to prove that something doesn't exist (you might just not have found it yet), and people who do believe in God don't want to prove his existance. You get into heaven based on faith, if you prove God exists, it's no longer faith.

That's just for Christianity, but I'm sure a lot of religions are based on faith and would be "ruined" if they no longer became about faith.

Anyway, isn't this the sexuallity thread? I'm here, in not queer, but I support the homosexual lifestyle, get used to it. That is all.

There's an extreme probability he doesn't exist in any of his suggested forms. Not just an indifference one way or the other.

Faith however is exactly that. Proving something beyond doubt is not good enough for people with faith, that's the whole point. The fact that there are people that still believe in the literal story of creationism are a shining example of this

I don't see how anyone can have faith in something literally written by humans to be divine though.

People are gullible and it's easy to push shit into kids heads, basically

I used to believe in God.

Then I grew up./

Stopped in the street the other day.

Hi sir

*Scans for badge...bingo, Christ*

No sorry, I'm a realist.

Do you have faith in being real?

We might be in the minority in this forum but people who believe in god destory you guys in xpert championships won the ultimate test of logic and intelligence! Still Mormonism also beats the hell out of everything going by that logic!

I tend not to get involved in threads like this comments like I believed in God then grew up are not a basis of anything. Woody Allen quotes are good times though. French 19th Century humanists, Socialists and Catholics is where religious discussions are at imo. Especially early French Communists trying to make Jesus their idol! Oh how things would change.

In all fairness, Wes, this was a thread-rip that stemmed from the whole gay rights thing in america. Or something. I don't really give a crap about any of that.

Never been religious, and never will be. Though, I do the odd "Fuck, please god let me pass this exam" and so forth. But, I think that's more because it's a well-used phrase, rather than me attempting to talk to a non-existent God.

I don't understand why god wants to be worshipped either.

I'd get so bored of being worshipped after a while.

Otherwise he'll strike your ship with a storm/lightning.

Actually, he might just do that anyway. But if he does, and you've been good, you must still love him for it.

Why does everybody personify God? Everyone seems to imagine him as some sort of jacked up humanoid. I prefer to imagine him (not that I believe in him) as a sort of force, like karma, mother nature, mana etc.

(Also I realised I contradicted myself by using "him", but everyone does it so I sort of do it without thinking. Although I have obviously just thought about it, or I wouldn't have written this comment.)

I don't believe in "God", but it's the personified god that is the one all the religious people believe in. Also the biblez says he's a he so he is.

If I believed in something, I'd agree with you. Completely. Energy, a "life force" or whatever.

In all fairness, God created man in his image so it's safe to assume God's a person type thing. Depends how literally you take the Bible I guess.

I prefer to take it the same as I would Easops Fables. More about the message behind the stories, rather than a historical document.

For the record, I'm agnostic. Although I'm glad I was raised Christian. It taught me some gosh darn morals.

It's REALLY not a good thing to take literally.

Definitely. It has some decency in the texts, behind the nonsense the people who worship it.

Whoa Nelly! So you wouldn't have learned good morals if you weren't raised a christian?

I wasn't raised anthing, and I'm one of the most thoughtful, conscientious people I know.
