Are there still fans of WWE here? I recently got back into it, mainly because Jeff Hardy is now WWE Champion!!!! I was so happy when i watched the triple threat match where he won it! He's been my favourite for so many years back as the Hardys, hell my name when i joined here was javhardy because i thought i was as cool as him!

Anyway, dont post here if you just want to say "wrestling is fake", "it sucks and i stopped watching when the Rock left" blah blah. We've heard it all before and know it was great back in the glory days. But it is still fun to watch so this thread is for anyone who still watches it to discuss whats going on and stuff :)

I havn't seen last nights Raw yet, but hopefull yit will better than last weeks. The whole JBL/HBK thing was so predictable, but i hope it develops.

Who are your picks for the Rumble? I so hope that Vlad guy doesnt win. They are bigging him up way too much for how shit he is in the ring. I honestly have no idea who will win though so im excited. I have heard rumours that Christian may return from TNA at the rumble too which is pretty cool, i quite like him.

So yeah, it would be great to have a good place to chat about WWE.

Posted

I've heard the same rumours of Christian returning to interfere in the WWE title match and be revealed as the attacker, but alas i doubt that will happen so soon.

Havn't seen RAW myself yet, havn't got Sky+ in the house yet (shall be using the downstairs box, as i don't want it in my room).

Its taken a while for Jeff to be the champ, much deserved i believe.

I stopped at... some point. I can't remember. Kurt Angle was still a wrestler and his theme is still one of my favourites, even if he isn't. Just before Kane took his mask off as well.

I did consider getting back into it, but most of the themes people have are gone. And pricks like Cena just annoy me, what looks like an adult chav. The rest are just blokes in swimming trunks.

Jav, you're not the only one who was happy to see Jeff Hardy be the WWE Champ. When I saw the news on the website, I cheered like a bastard. :yay:

I do watch Raw live on Monday nights. That obviously means I've seen it. I won't say anything about last night's show, other than:

Vince McMahon is set to return in two weeks, he hasn't been seen since the 'accident', when the stage prop 'fell' on him.

I stopped watching it in 2002, which was actually before The Rock left. It just became boring, as if they had stopped trying because they'd bought out WCW and therefore had no more competition.

It was great back when they were competing against WCW and during the Attitude Era. Nowadays, it's nowhere near as good, but there's just something that keeps me slightly interested in it.

I picked it up again about Summer 2007. A few wrestlers I remembered from before were still there at the time, but a few more like Jericho have returned since. Giving me more a bit more incentive to continue watching. As well as some of the younger wrestlers who are rather good.

I still watch it every so often. Actually went to see Monday Night Raw in Manchester a few months ago which was pretty cool.

This thread will disappear in a couple of weeks just like all the other wrestling threads - there's just not enough people on here who want to talk about it.

Awesome! I'd like that. Its good to see Stephanie back around regularly at the mo aswell. I just hope Jeff can keep the title until Wrestlemania.

Its so good watching live, so much better than on TV. But you're right, there's just no place for WWE at N-E. For shame.

I would really like to see WWE live. Would be rather good, as I'm only getting "half the experience" of it at the mo.

I believe Beermonkey's going to WrestleMania 25 and the Raw the day after, lucky get.

Me and my dad like watching it every so often when we having breakfast or something, but now I'm at uni I never see it.

I like Cena. What I don't like is how they change people, like Randy Orton, he was cool and then he turned like 'evil' in a sense.

Still a fan of Rey Mysterio. Kane is rubbbbbish now. Used to be so much better when he was mysterious :)

Posted

I think Cena's okay. He's not the best wrestler, but he is really passionate about the business. (You probably think I'm only saying that because of the vignettes aired before his return back in November, but it's actually true.)

And I agree about Kane. He looks rather boring without the cool mask and that.

But it could be worse. He would look even more samey and boring if he was flabby and wore trunks, because that image = Generic 80's wrestlers.

Ah yes, the other wrestling thread also disappeared...

Anyway, I still watch it from time to time. I still love Smackdown more than Raw, and I still ignore most of ECW.

On Raw, there are some things I'm loving right now. Namely Chris Jericho (a competent heel that doesn't cheat, and his booed because of his "I'm above you" attitude), Randy Orton (who is just awesome right now), the JBL/HBK relation, and strong midcarders like Santino, Punk, Beth, Kofi, etc.

On Smackdown, I love the fact that Jeff Hardy is the champion (amazing moment when he won it), Triple H stopped being funny and is now in his badass no-nonsense persona (thank god), Vickie is very easy to hate, Edge is awesome in everything he does, and the midcard is stronger than on Raw (Benjamin, MVP, R-Truth, and even Festus or Helms :heh:)

ECW has good wrestlers, so it's a good thing they appear in the other programmes anyway. Miz&Morrison are my favourite tag team right now (a Morrison/HBK feud needs to happen), Matt Hardy is as strong as ever, and I certainly hope Evan Bourne comes back soon. He's the only guy in WWE with a credible high-flying style.

Posted

Evan Bourne is brilliant. Not just because he can do the Shooting Star Press, but because he is an all-round talented wrestler.

I don't like Miz & Morrison, to be honest. I'm fed up with them. They're on every show every week and most of their matches always end with almost the exact same outcome. And their "Dirt Sheet" videos on the WWE website aren't much good either. They're really getting on my tits. :nono:

Posted

I dont have the time of day for ECW. Apart from MAtt Hardy i just find it a bit boring. Probably because i dont know any of the wrestlers, but still. Its not hardcore like it should be under the WWE safety blanket, so its just not what it should be.

I used to like Cena a lot more than i do now. I think he would be better as a heel rather than a face. I dont know. Its a bit like the Rock was. So good as a heel, but the taunting worked as a face as well. I think he will develop though, he has good moves (bar the You Cant See Me bollocks, i hate that move) and is exciting to watch.

Loving Jericho and Edge at the moment, so good as heels. I liked the HHH banter with Vickie about her doll and the eBay porn too, he was pretty funny. I dont like him when he is all serious.

I honestly think 2009 will be a good year. Well, here's hoping.

been watching WWE for roughly 15 years watch it religiously every week :)

me and bro have a gold package for this years Wrestlemania 25 :P so going to WM, Hall of fame, fan excess, midday madness and also RAW the next day :D....cant wait

wwe i feel has gotten alot more unpredictable this year but some new addictions like kozlov and kizarany are questionable

Koslov is ok i guess, but Kizarany is questionable as you said. Koslov is quite talented, but why use the head move all the time.

Now that I think about it, Evan isn't the only one. Brian Kendrick, Shelton Benjamin and Kofi Kingston also use similar high-flying styles.

The Dirt Sheet videos do get old in a short while, but IMO their matches don't.

Maybe it's because tag teams don't get much exposure these days, but I can't get tired of a good team.

Me and you both. Thank god their best guys make regular appearances in other shows as well.

Cena has been improving, yes. As long as he doesn't revert back to "invincible cena", I'm okay with him.

Kozlov has an awesome gimmick/persona. His promos match him perfectly. I just wish his ring skills were better. Thankfully, he's improving that.

What do you mean "thought"... you ARE as cool as him... bring back Javhardy : peace: haha

Anyway, yeah I still watch Raw and Smackdown every week, might watch ECW every now and then if i'm bored but not totally into it... seeing as it's not really "Extreme" I don't see the point. When CM Punk was on it I liked it more, he carried it. Then they swapped him for Matt Hardy, Matt is awesome and t's bloody great to see him with a world title and same as Jeff of course, but I can't help but think the ECW title is treated as a 2nd tier belt. Case in point they changed the colour of the belt to silver... and last year the ECW Champion (Chavo) took part in the Royal Rumble... why? He had a World Title, why did he need to win a #1 contender spot... never seen the WWE Champ or World Heavyweight Champ take part in the Rumble.... wouldn't be surprised to see Matt Hardy entered into the Rumble this month.

Anyway, while I do watch the TV shows... don't watch too many of the PPV's mainly cuz I refuse to pay for them, so only watch the few that are free, with the exception of the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania, I will give into the devil for those two. I still maintain a stand that we already pay a premium for Sky Sports, why should we pay a premium again?

I hate Triple H, the way his suddenly changed his image and became immensely popular with his "I am the Gaaaammee" shit [does hand motion The Rock did when mocking him] and managed to bag Stephanie McMahon, real or not.

Posted

I stopped watching WWE about a year ago. I hate the way it's aimed at kids, its stupid conservative political messages (ESPECIALLY the bloody "troops"). It's obsession with image in terms of wrestlers (I find it degrading and apaulling how the women are portrayed and represented) and corporate branding. It's not wrestling anymore, its a joke. Also, John Cena pisses me off big time. :shakehead

Started watching TNA in April last year and while it's pretty hit and miss it's definatly better than the WWE. I've seen some outstanding matches in the past year, some great talent and Kurt Angle is still the best in the world, even if the storylines are a little poor.Going to see it in Manchester a week on Tuesday and I can't wait. Seeing the likes of Samoa Joe, AJ Styles and all the X-Division contenders in person will be amazing and TNA apparently put on an amazing live show. Plus Mick Foley will be there!

Haha, thanks man! And yeah, i hate that they charge so much. A movie costs what, £3.99? So, based on duration, a WWE PPV is twice the length as most movies, so it should be no more than £7.99. I'd pay that. £15 is blind robbery.

I agree about the troops stuff, but i just dont watch those specials that they do. Easy enough to avoid. As for the girls, i have to disagree. Yes they are scantily clad, but they are portrayed as fighters more so now than ever. Most divas are now required to get in the ring and at least try to compete. Yes they have some silly matches, but its just for fun and, lets face it, they are hot! Its entertainment at the end of the day, just like dancers in a music video. But on the other hand, when they do have proper matches it sends a good message as they are standing up for themselves.

I miss Gail Kim though, where did she go? Is she on TNA now? WAs awesome to see Trish at Christmas. I was so hoping she would be back but it was one time only :(

It's not just that, it's the fact that they all look the same and are required to have an exaggerated chest in order to get anywhere. There's no personality in it, watch the women in TNA and then you'll see what I mean. I'd even go as far as saying the women wrestling is the best thing about TNA. The in ring standards are high, there is a varied mix of performers and the storylines are consistantly very good. I can't quote on the matches in WWE because I haven't watched it for so long but when I last tuned in it was pretty poor and most of them couldn't wrestle. Nothing compared to the glory days of Trish, Lita and Victoria.

She's just signed a new contract with WWE and will debut in a few weeks. It's a shame she's gone from TNA becuase she was a good champion and had an amazing fued with Awesome Kong.

The problem with TNA is that too many matches are gimmick matches.

I watch it occasionally when it's on, and it's ok, but even though I agree with everything you said about WWE, I still prefer it to TNA.

Isn't Christian supposed to be coming back to WWE?

Posted

Awesome! I like Gail Kim alot, very talented. Most divas can do at least one cool move in the WWE, be it some sort of hurricanrana etc. There are always the better ones though. Victoria is still around i believe, but the Glamazon is the main powerhouse who can wrestle properly.

And yeah i believe Christian is coming back at the rumble. Well, thats the rumour anyway. I'm sure some new/old faces will turn up at the Rumble, they always do. Whats up with Goldust randomly appearing backstage these days anyway?! They've turned him into a joke. He was always a bit of a joke, but still, he did well in the ring blowing dust in peoples faces!

I agree, it's most annoying and really hurts the company

Isn't Christian supposed to be coming back to WWE?

He's already signed a deal that will place him in the main event, apparently.

The plan is to have him run over Jeff Hardy and his missus. Hardy escapes scott free but his missus is almost killed, this sets up the Smackdown main-event match for WrestleMania 25, with the rumble winner facing the Raw champ.

I think this storyline is GAY! Hit and run is a CRIME, as is attempted murder. Rikishi never got punished, lol. One rule for the world, one rule for WWE. Much like necrophilia/rape, I do wish they would bring back they Katie Vick storyline... /rant on why I don't watch WWE
