Noodleman Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I imagine i'll be throwing shrimps on the barbie.
Letty Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Me and Jordan and his family are going t'pub.
Pit-Jr Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 In my family its all about Christmas breakfast. Bacon, eggs, mini-pancakes, biscuits, gravy, fruit bowl, toast. Pretty much the works. Its like a buffet at the Golden Corral without the sneeze-guard
jayseven Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 The last two years the xmas cooking has been reserved for us nippers rather than me mam. We've not got any grub in the house ready yet - sister arrives on monday so no doubt will do a food run while I live it up with the iNEars. Most important is that enough alcohol is stocked, for i plan to drink lots and lots while 'cooking'. I've always had that for xmas, except one year when I was ill and miserable and so I had pancakes instead. Mmmmmm.... Can't wait. Pigs in blankets are indeed Teh Win.
RoadKill Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Im a Vegan so I normally have the standard veg , nomrally Neeps , spruts, carrots . As for the Turkey replacement i havent quite figured it out yet , im gong to look in holland and barret and a health food shop on monday , thinking maybe Beech Smoked Tofu or some sort of Special veg/nut cutlet thing . Wow, someone else who's vegan. That doesn't happen too often
Kirkatronics Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Wow, someone else who's vegan. That doesn't happen too often I bet it can be hard, especially at christmas. One of my friends who is a vegan always loved the smell of Chicken at christmas. She found it hard not to try some.
Molly Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Christmas day starts off with Champagne and smoked salmon with scrambled eggs for breakfast. Although I don't like smoked salmon (black sheep of the family) so I just have the eggs and booze. Then this year for the main meal we're having turkey and goose with all the trimmings. There's always days worth of leftovers, man I love the turkey/stuffing sandwiches, mmm.
Coolness Bears Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 IT IS ALL ABOUT CHINESE ON BOXING DAY MY FRIENDS! but on Chirstmas day it is the usual. I will not have it otherwise. :p Turkey, Roast Pots, vegetables, pigs in teh blankets, yorkshire puddings and gravy. Also we light a Christmas Pudding for dessert even though my Dad is the only one who likes it!
rokhed00 Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Pigs in Blankets (Read: Essential) Goes without saying, but I refuse to use that name, it's too much of an americanism, they are sausages wrapped in bacon, and always will be. New or Mash PotatoesRoast Potatoes Try roast new potatoes, they are beautiful.

(Also a freak for not liking Smoked Salmon...but think I've told you that before) My ideal Christmas Dinner is ; Turkey Gravy Roast Potatoes Mashed Potatoes Honey Roast Parsnips Carrots Peas Stuffing Pigs in Blankets Yorkshire Pudding *Drools* Pudding was usually Christmas pudding. My mum made this amazing amazing amazing brandy butter. I will have to get the recipe and hope I can at least come close to the deliciousness she made it.
Jon Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I at my Dad's for christman dinner this year (Turkey and all the trimmings) then later on I'm going to my Mum's then spending Boxing day there with all the family.
Molly Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Your classes upon classes above the area you live. I don't understand what you mean by this? I live in a nice village in bucks?! p.s. I hope you find the recipe for the EDIT brandy butter
ReZourceman Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Yeah but....like...its near shit hole. Yeah I'm sure my sis will have the recipe.
Molly Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 lol, you're either talking about aylesbury or just trying to insult me! anywho... christmas dinner, la la lah.
Dante Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I'm going to be at my aunties with my family at christmas. Two traditional turkey dinner at home than at my aunties.
Cube Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I'll be at my aunts this Xmas. Probably will be starting off Prawn Cocktail, then a traditional Turkey dinner (all the usual: Turkey, Roast Potatoes, Mash Potato, Bacon Sausages, Carrots, Sprouts, Stuffing, Yorkie Puds, Cauliflower, Peas, Gravy, etc). Not sure what I'll be having for pudding (Xmas Cake and Xmas Pudding are some of the most vile things ever created). Probably just standard Ice Cream. IT IS ALL ABOUT CHINESE ON BOXING DAY MY FRIENDS! Chinese on Xmas Eve.
Ramar Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Try roast new potatoes, they are beautiful. Hmm.. I may have to look into this revelation.
rokhed00 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Hmm.. I may have to look into this revelation. Well worth it, they make great baked potatoes too.
Dan_Dare Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 we have one rule in our house: If you've not eaten enough to be basically incapacitated, you're not finished. Dinner here is titanic: All the ingredients of a Turkey Roast included as standard in massive quantities. one thing I've noticed a lack of in this thread is stuffing. Do you guys not have any? we have about 4 types I'm actually really quite excited about this meal. It's going to be absolutely fucking ace.
Molly Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 ^^ oh god yeah, stuffing is essential. I mean I love the whole meal, but give me just a plate of sage and onion stuffing and I'll probably be happy. haha, that sounds really gross but I don't care.
rokhed00 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 one thing I've noticed a lack of in this thread is stuffing. Do you guys not have any? we have about 4 types Open your eyes, most people have mentioned stuffing.
ReZourceman Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Stuffing = mix of crispy/chewy/soft and cremated FTW.
Coolness Bears Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I'm not a fan of stuffing! But my mum cooks two different types. It looks alright but I'm not a fan of the taste... I've tried to like it several times but it is not for me!
Nami Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I'm a big fan of stuffin!! Along with gravy it just finishes off the meal perfectly. Do you all have a starter? I use to have melon because my family had prawns and I'm mardy with them!
