Hero-of-Time Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Heres the first trailer! http://www.gametrailers.com/player/40745.html
Coolness Bears Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Looks awesome. :awesome: Along with some Tight controls and maybe Wii Motion Plus an some Online Multiplayer this game has the potential to be great. Fantastic news! Heres the first trailer! http://www.gametrailers.com/player/40745.html Cool video, I really do love the graphical style!
Cookyman Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Heres the first trailer! http://www.gametrailers.com/player/40745.html Not too shabby! looks like a fun game. Last time I played this game was the free version you got with Fight Night round 2 on the cube.
Shino Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Heres the first trailer! http://www.gametrailers.com/player/40745.html Haha, brilliant! It's so smooth!!
Phube Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I really hope they nail the controls to this game, because seriously, Wii boxing is laughably bad. If you think that, you were doing it wrong!
Hellfire Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 This looks awesome, it really seems to have kept the original's spirit.
darkjak Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 If you think that, you were doing it wrong! Not really. The game sometimes doesent register your punches, and sometimes when you raise your guard the character stands in this really weird open stance. Also, I have no clue what the heck triggers the round punches, cuz it most certainly doesent happen when I make them. The controlls need to be fixed, and some kind of championship with customisation would be good. Like I've said before, Nintendo need to do a lot to justify this purchase. That Nintendo have made something so close to Wii sports boxing means that it's not impossible that we'll se a waverace sequel.

That's not to say Wii Sports boxing wasn't fun, but it ended up being more of a freak-out session, rather than a controlled experience. The boxing mini-game in WarioWare: Smooth Moves was loads more responsive, so I'm hoping Punch Out!! Wii will follow suit.
darksnowman Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Nintendo need to do a lot to justify this purchase. I'd say its a given that this new Punch Out!! will be more fleshed out than Wii Sports Boxing. I'm not sure why you think it won't be...?
The-chosen-one Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 for punchout i dont want new controls added just the classic style that would be magic in my eyes they dont need to change that much it would ruin the punchout magic is the show still going on? or is it finished?
ShadowV7 Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Show? There was the conference in Japan and the US has a show florr for some games but it's under embargo or something till Monday.

Like I've said you're both doing it wrong then... because I can play a controlled game!? Twist in to block, out to open. Pull back to go high, forward to go low. Sharp jab for jab, slow downward punch for rounding... etc. Remember it's not 1:1, you just have to know the right moves! (Although knowing this does help beat the bloke on 979 point... ARRRGGHHH, or your friends who flail!!)

So you're telling me that every single time you've made a gesture while playing Wii Sports boxing, that a punch has been thrown in the game accordingly, it has never not responded to the movement, not even once!? I'd be seriously amazed if so. I've played the game with numerous people and they've all encountered / commented on how it can fail to recognise punches at times. At the end of the day that doesn't mean they're not doing it right, (it's a pretty straightforward movement to throw a punch ) it simply means the controls aren't responsive enough.
Goron_3 Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Wii sports boxing was definately broken. A good control scheme should work straight away and you shouldn't be forced to waggle the controller in a specific direction only and in a specific way several times for it to work. That said, Motion Plus should solve the problem Although, Punch Out with Traditional controls...<3

Yes... when I was flailing around... but not once I learnt to use the controls properly... it did take time though!
darksnowman Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I kinda agree with Phube. I like Wii Sports Boxing and I've always felt that the controls are functional if you work with them. And anyway, once you get up into the realms of 1500-2000 exp and beyond in it, you HAVE to sit in there, bob and weave and then pick your punches!
