dazzybee Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Hi guys sorry if this is classed as advertising; but I work in theatre; and my new play is going on a small UK tour starting this month. It would be great if any of you are interested in theatre or interested to see what other N-Europe-ers do Here are the details, any questions then PM me. Would love to see some of you there Shooting Fish Theatre Company presents LAMINATED Written and directed by Darren Bolton Performed by Christopher Anstey and Emily Bignell. “When you’re born into a town that’s cloaked in a smog of apathy, your dreams get laminated - you can look, but not touch.” Laminated tells the story of Charlie, a failed writer coming to terms with the end of his career. Packing up to leave his home, he begins to reconstruct his memories to create a past he can accept. Rummaging through these memories and unfinished stories, he is overwhelmed by the growing presence of an ex lover, who confronts him with a truth he never expected. Laminated is an imaginative and beautifully visual piece, using puppetry and physical theatre to bring life to the stories and memories of Charlie’s world. It asks us to consider the reality of chasing our dreams, and all the things in life that we can see, but not touch. darksnowman Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Dazzy, if only you brought this thing to Belfast...
dazzybee Posted September 9, 2008 Author Posted September 9, 2008 Yeah, we tried, been the before, great venue! We're hoping to relaunch the play with more funding next year internationally, belfast will DEFINITELY be on the list. It's all dependent on how this one goes though Cheers for the interest though buddy.
Shorty Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Rotherham's not far away, might check it out
tapedeck Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 I'd have gone to see it but seeing as it's not near me... Usually Newcastle/Sunderland/Durham get these things. There, I've voiced my complaint!! Sounds excellent though
Ellmeister Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Wow that sounds pretty sweet Congratulations for having a play made I think Unfortunately the London venue is the only one I'm relatively near to and cannot make it Good luck anyway!
Ninty 182 Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Seeing as it clashes with the start of me going to uni I'm probably not gonna see it but it does sound great. Are you an actor or director etc.?
Raining_again Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Dazzy, if only you brought this thing to Belfast... QFT, this looks damn good!
Zero Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Why aren't you going to Scotland. We're only north of the border. I guess it's the same reason your not going to Belfast. There is even a theatre 10 minutes walking distance from my house.
dazzybee Posted September 14, 2008 Author Posted September 14, 2008 Hey, just to remind everyone my opening night is in Birmingham Thursday September 25th The Crescent Theatre Birmingham, B16 8AE http://www.crescent-theatre.co.uk Box Office: 0121 643 5858
ShadowV7 Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Good luck with everything, shame your not going to Scotland. There's a theatre that's 20 minutes walking distance from my house which may or may not be the same one Zero mentioned
jayseven Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Rotherham's not far away, might check it out Nor's Grimsby, Lincoln or Scunthorpe... :P Dazzybee: Where's the crescent theatre? I think Shorty and I, and probablymaybe nami will make an appearance at one of the venues mentioned in this post. I remember reading around the forums that you were writing a play, so I'd love to see it

dazzybee Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 I live in Scunthorpe and I'm moving to Lincoln in 6 days time. Im seriously interested and @ £8, I might pop along to the Lincoln showing! Although I've got so much to buy for the flat, I'll see what my bank manager says. Good Work Dazzy! Have you moved to Lincoln now then? How you finding it? Just to say the first show was last night in Birmingham, and it was a sell out - yey!!! Really happy with how it went actually - phew...... Now I can finally sleep ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
fex Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I make the move on sunday, I have everything setup, bed, sofa's etc. it's just a case of moving myself over now. I can't wait. I love Lincoln. I'm glad the first show went well, and things can only get better! So by the time you hit lincoln it should be the smoothest operation in town!
dazzybee Posted October 1, 2008 Author Posted October 1, 2008 Hey guys, just to say my show's at Rotherham this friday if any of you people from Sheffield fancy taking a short trip over. Or people from Rotherham and anywhere even remotely close...say, in England!! See first post for more details.
Daniel Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Saw this on Saturday in a library in Swinton near Sheffield
dazzybee Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 Saw this on Saturday in a library in Swinton near Sheffield Yey! So it was advertised! We've got our first 2 reviews up, both very positive *phew* I'll post them when the internet links are up! I'm sorry, but that tagline is terrible. Why is it? It's not a tagline as such, it's the first line of the play, which is the first line of a book the main character wrote. We're in London on Thursday. A biggie for us as some important people are coming!
dazzybee Posted October 21, 2008 Author Posted October 21, 2008 So London has been and gone, very pleased, some important people came, another good review. Lincoln next, so anyone living in Lincolnshire or Nottinghamshire, and you're bored tomorrow night. Come see an amazing show
Chuck Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 My local theatre the 'Whitley Bay Playhouse' is being re-built. Maybe Laminated 2 can be staged there as a breach into the north:D.
jayseven Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Yo! As I said in the other thread, a bunch of us (so far; shorty, jayseven (ME!!) nightwolf and nami) are going to go to the manchester venue. We're wondering if we can get a discount OR some sort of back-stage-omg-we-meet-u-pass thingum. Yeah.
Sprout Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Just came back after seeing this in Lincoln. Some brilliant acting, I especially loved the parts involving the teddybear. My congrats go out to you dazzybee, and I wish you the best of luck on the rest of your tour. Though I don't think you'll need it. =P
dazzybee Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 Oh thats great, thank you for coming. You should have stayed to say hi Yo! As I said in the other thread, a bunch of us (so far; shorty, jayseven (ME!!) nightwolf and nami) are going to go to the manchester venue. We're wondering if we can get a discount OR some sort of back-stage-omg-we-meet-u-pass thingum. Yeah. That's amazing, thank you so much!
