She is great in Lost in Translation as Charlotte. Great film that also stars the other great Murray of our time... not the Eevil one, but Bill.

best. opening. shot. ever.

i havent seen any of the other films... so i cant really comment... and her character in lost in translation is kind of... hollow - she doesnt even really know who she is... so i reeeally have nothing to add except the picture of her ass

Awesome as Bill Murray is [Actually just finished watching Groundhog's Day] but even he couldn't save that boring shit fest that was Lost In Translation.

Wow I need to see Lost in Translation.

No. No you don't.

Finally! Another person who doesn't like that movie either!

Seriously I thought it was extremely boring. So boring I've already forgotten what happens in it.

I tried giving it a chance. It made all the critics jizz, it had the Murray in, it was worth a look in. I couldn't watch it all the way to the end because it just wasn't going anywhere.

You haven't. Nothing happens.

I quite liked Lost In Translation. It does a good job of capturing the setting and can be quite funny, but it's a bit too... loose for my liking. I can see why people like it, but one viewing was enough for me.

I think it accomplishes what it set out to, but that isn't what I want from a movie.

I loved Ghost World, and I laughed everytime I heard her voice (metaphorically). Really deep for no reason. I have no idea if that's her real voice, or not, but I'm sure she's on some make-up commercial and it's higher.

I suppose she's not meant to have much character in Ghost World though.

Must I interpret this as "short attention span" or just idiocy?

Lost in Translation is definitely an over rated film, Its in no way bad, which is surprising since that talentless moron Sophia Coppola directed it. Its a film where you can't criticise anyone either way for liking it or not, unless you're trying to fail sounding like a smart arse, because its meaning is on a very personal level. Personally what it does is nothing new for me, I've seen European and some fantastic Korean/Japanese films tackle the same topic much more competently.

Neither, thank you very much.

I watched it all the way through and felt like I had wasted my precious time, which I could've spent on more interesting and productive things. The film was boring and did nothing for me.

Well since I buckled 30 mins towards the end you can chalk it up to short attention span. If you "Must".

However I'm going to interpret it as "100% fucking boring". To be honest I surprised myself by making myself watching more, fooling myself in the hope that something interesting might happen.

I didn't really 'get' LiT, i guess for me, the meaning was 'lost in translation' aAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

ahem.

But yeah, not a great film for me, and I don't really see the raving about Scarlett Johansson either, not my kind of girl. I don't think I've seen anything else with her in, but I know a fair few people who talk about her like she's some sort of angel on earth. Plus, the arse in the opening shot of LiT isn't really hers, it's very clever editing.
