Haver Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Pats vs. Giants at the University of Phoenix. Coverage on BBC2 from 10.50. Predictions? My heart says Giants, even though I like the Pats, because it will make Larry David happy. But I think the Pats by at least two touchdowns. My friend has £100 on a Giants win at 5/1.
ThePigMarcher Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Best day of the year. I would love to see the Giants win it , as I really dislike the Patriots although you can't discredit their achievements of the last few years even with the limitations of the salary cap and free agency. I believe the Giants can keep it a lot closer than some experts/bookies believe as they are capable of doing the things that need to be done against the Pats but whether they have enough to pull off the win is certainly questionable. As long as we get a fair called game (yes Superbowl XL still makes me bitter ) then may the best team win. I have seen a couple of games this season where the Pats have had the benefit of a couple of questionable calls and I hope the zebra brigade don't resort to that in a bid to ensure the 19-0 season. Pizza is ordered , snacks and Jack Daniels is ready so bring it on. Only bad thing about Superbowl Sunday is it signifies the beginning of an overly long off-season.
bmoose Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Never watched it before so tonight will be my first Superbowl. I dislike the Pats so hopefully the Giants can beat them. Going to be so tired for college tomorrow.
Ramar Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 It's on BBC2 this year isn't it? (edit - answered in first post, silly me.) I can't stand the sport, but I've watched the last two super bowls to try and understand it better, and form a better opinion of the game. With BBC covering it removes one of the things I can not stand about the game, commercial breaks.
EEVILMURRAY Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Shall be down the pub doing something productive instead of watching this shite.
Haver Posted February 3, 2008 Author Posted February 3, 2008 Let's hope it's a productive night Eevil. We've been waiting for your next sheet of crayola video game characters for like, ages. Snacks: we have the hot wings, the prawn crackers and the glass cokes.
AshMat Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 I woulda watched it if it was on a bit earlier, it's a sport i've always wanted to watch properly, i've only ever seen.. snippets.
LazyBoy Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Pats will run away with it. I'm trying to figure out a way to see it out here.
EEVILMURRAY Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Let's hope it's a productive night Eevil. We've been waiting for your next sheet of crayola video game characters for like, ages. Came fourth in the pub quiz, but to be fair there were only 3 of us in the team so we were happy but not in the right sense. I assume you mean The Project. I added Batman and Dizzy on earlier this week, it's coming along slowly of course.
Indigo Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 I'm watching the stream on BBC Sport, trying to understand this game. If the BBC aired the games regularly I could imagine getting into it - it's definitely more appealing without the adverts, considering all the breaks in play.
mario_jr Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Damn, I wanted the New England to win, just because they worked so hard for that record. But in the end the New York defense was just too much:(
Hero-of-Time Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Amazing game and so glad Giants won. Twice now Brady has been beaten by a Manning. The last 2 mins were so tense and that throw to Tyree was godlike. I got to go to work in 2 hours, clearly im falling asleep while im there.
mario_jr Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I gotta be at work in 3 hours. There are gonna be some pissed off people at work, especially those who spent a lot of money on squares.
ThePigMarcher Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Absolutely incredible game and a fantastic well deserved result for the Giants. I am buzzing after such an awesome game but really need some sleep because I am hoping that my broadband finally gets fixed tomorrow , its been screwed for 10 days now , damn Orange.
Haver Posted February 4, 2008 Author Posted February 4, 2008 Incredible. Housemate set to lose £100 with 2 on the clock, then THAT shake-off and history-making pass and catch, then the TD for £600...I had no money staked but I was shaking. I've had a blast.
Kav Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Awesome game! Giants defense won them that game! ...and "that play" from Manning and Tyree... awesome!
Oxigen_Waste Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I don't get sports... What's the fun in watching other people do meaningless excersize?
Cube Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I only found out a few seconds ago. The only thing that matters are the cool adverts that they usually have.
EEVILMURRAY Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Christ, you don't see people get this worked up over UEFA or any of that other shit... What's the secret.
Jimbob Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Good game, just finished watchin it. Am glad the Giants won that game. Only problem with American football is all the meanigless breaks they take after each touchdown.
DomJcg Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I honestly thought that the pats would win =( sadly the giants kept bundling on Brady the bastards! But the giants did play a good game sadly =( also wheres the next super bowl?
The Bard Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I don't get sports... What's the fun in watching other people do meaningless excersize? Same here. I wouldn't have a problem with pointless competition, but when it escalates to the point where the players are getting paid more in a week than people who actually contribute something to society get paid in a year or more, it's becomes more than slightly farcical. I guess people just need something to fill their time with, something that takes very little effort.
Hem Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Aside from the hilarious quip at Eevil, I commend you Haver for not responding to the immature negativity expressed in your thread.
