Sky Plus Versus the TV Drive

Sky Sports v Setanta (Not really but...)

Who has what here and why?

_____________________________________________________________

I have Virgin Media partly because my Dad works for them and gets alot of it free or has discount on the deals.

Granted I was a tad bit pissed off with Sky One being taken off us and Sky Sports news but hey!

What I would watch on Sky One I would download On T'Internet and what ever Football news I wanted to hear about I'd simply go on the BBC Website.

Plus Setanta are going to get A Football News Channel of their own AND they reckon Virgin and Setanta will merge to create some sort of Sport Service....

I have the equivalent of a Sky Plus box with Virgin Media a 80GB Storage capacity which is top class, the Virgin Central Service is brilliant as is the teleport TV On Demand.

Since Rupert Murdoch is the Devil's mother I will never voluntarily chose anything associated with him...

To answer your question though, I wouldn't want/use either since I can download anything I want off the internet as well as stream live football matches from around the world even when they aren't on Sky Sports or Setanta.

Sky Multiroom ftw.

Virgin don't operate in Ireland, a merged NTL/Chorus do the same thing as Virgin just not as big or as good. NTL are shit basically. Sky have huge subscribership here but in the big cities cable is massive also.

Currently looking at TV's to turn the main Sky box into Sky HD. And upgrade the second sky box to Sky+ also with a new telly.

The Sky Sports channels are the channels for the gods. I could watch SSN all day. All they need is start including the hurling and football (Gaelic) news on it!

Sky has better TV, but Virgin has better phone and Internet so i'm with Virgin.

Thats what i think anyways.

Pretty Much Spot on if your talking about service, Too pay them all in one go is good as well.

Having said that I do wish sometimes Sky Sports just play the fuggin Match and commentate on it because it's just too much information!

We have Virgin media because they took over NTL.

Just got a V+ box and that's pretty sweet. Also getting faster internet so that's a plus.

I hardly watch TV anymore so not getting Sky One is annoyingbut I don't care.

And we have Sky Sports and Setanta so I'm good for football matches.

Hate for Rupert Murdoch aside, Sky Digital shits on every other Television service. Best Channels, Best service (by far on football and movies), easiest to use and best interactivity.

Only somebody who is unfortunate enough to be stuck with Virgin Media or NTL Telvision packages, could falsely rate them higher then SKY to make themselves feel a bit better.

I don't know to be honest because at the end of the day

We Have Sky Movies

Sky Sports

Virgin Central's Own Sky One Type Service On Demand....

Sky offers alot extra but how much of that stuff do you use? Player Cam wtf?

I'm very happy with Virgin Media personally Granted if I have the money i'd get Sky but for the money, service and tele I think it's pretty awesome...

You basically have the poor mans Sky, with the less channels, less luxury and less features. Virgin Media is ok if you are on a budget, but once you have been exposed to Sky for a long period time (Like I have), you would not be able to step down due to its greatness.

And seein the highlights of every match and that is niiice. Plus I dont pay for SKY, so I can happily enjoy it without worrying about a bill.

I don't pay for Virgin Media

I have the Best Package Fast Broaband and Phone with the best tele

Suits me

I have Virgin Media broadband and it does rock ;)

Best tele service? not by a longshot ya stubborn bastard lol.

Not In Comparison with Sky of Course but with what Virgin Media Can Offer :)

I have Sky and although I annoyed that they will charge me £199 for a HD box I won't leave SKY. I pay extra for Setanta anyway and also nothing beats Sky's soccer saturday programme.

also what about Champions League coverage. with Sky you can choose to watch any game from the 8 choices. can you do this with Virgin?

At home I've got Sky HD. A complete waste of money, and good for a few days. Then it sinks in that HD really isn't that good, even on a HD projector.

In fact, I hardly ever use the HD channels now. £199 for a HD box? My step dad paid £400 when it first came out.

No but Since was Any Liverpool Champions League Game not Available to me...

Anyway the highlights at 11 O'Clock suit me right down to the core...

Just give me a match to watch adn not about 20 different options of how I can watch the match...

I have Virgin Media, have it for phone and internet too I believe. Can't say I wasn't disappointed with Sky One being taken away, but Sky knew they were being pimpsmacked so wanted an edge.

As for Sky Sports or whatever, I honestly couldn't care less. Watching football = paint drying without the plot twists.

Although that Setanta advert with Des is awesome.

Agreed, however I couldn't do without sky sports... far better than the crappy bbc sports coverage.

Can't say i care too much about the difference. I like not being with BT though, as i get my broadband from virgin and i've not really had an issue with it. Plus E4, Film4, and BBC 3 are the only channels i really watch outside of the normal TV channels, and i can get them on freeview.

Sky+ is more expensive than the Virgin equivalent isnt it?

And catch-up TV On Demand is a godsend!

Give me Sky anyday.

I can't recieve cable where I am now but at my old address I had dealings with both Sky and ntl.

NTL's (or Virgin) TV service was a stripped down joke back down and apparently it's worse now , the internet service was top notch but god help you if you ever needed to contact customer services , that was a joke beyond belief.

I have returned to Sky since moving and I am more than pleased with the quality and service I receive , even phoning customer services can be a pleasant experience.

Being a massive NFL fan , having the option of watching additional live games on the red button is a massive plus and it would be sorely missed if I ever needed to return to cable.

I also prefer to get my phone and internet services from different suppliers as this allows me the freedom to change at will and shop for better deals.

Oh dear, I'm missing out on endless repeats of the Simpsons, Star Trek, Stargate, Relic Hunter, etc... by having Virgin Media.

How will I ever survive?

You are talking about one Channel Sky1... Sky has alot more to offer then that. The Sports and movies channels are the best in the buisness

Which Cable Customers have access to....

All of them May I add

I have had Sky Digital since 1999 and always had the full package. I have a link up thing to my bedroom which is awesome but I do end up watching a lot of crap.

We also have freeview on a couple of other tvs in the house.

Before that we had cable for a bit in the early 90's.
