DiemetriX Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 This is probably an april fools but it looks amazing. I really want a game like this.. what about calling it something like.. "Links quest" and not zelda. http://www.wii.tv/2007/03/31/wiitv-exclusive-new-title-announcement/ Wow.. just wow.
Tyson Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 I don't see why it shouldn't be real. You can only go so far in a restrictive timeline like Zelda's pre-technology world.
Aimless Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 It appears to be a slide show of random futuristic artwork, fanart, and high-poly 3D models. Fake... just fake.
pedrocasilva Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 1st April :p I'd rather have Nintendo doing a game like that as a new IP.
Shino Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Obviously a fake not enough Zelda references and some things looked ridiculous, machine gunned robot rhinos?! wtf? But very well done. The whole future idea seems nice but I don't see the Zelda universe fit in this. How about Nintendo starts doing other stuff besides Zelda, Mario, Mario, Metroid and Mario. Edit: I was expecting for pedrocasilva to come up with the original game of that artwork. Don't disappoint me, man.
Caris Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Looks terrible... Mind you it says it was posted on the 31st...
The Peeps Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Of course it's fake, Zelda with guns? lol Looks like a lot of effort went into it though.
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 This is real. My Uncle works at Nintendo.
david.dakota Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Ok, so ignoring the fact thats its April 1st, a Futuristic Zelda could work very well, blending traditional Zelda themes with more contemporary ideas. Batman of the Future is a rather good take on that franchise, so why not Zelda?
Jasper Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 If Project H.A.M.M.E.R. turns out like this, I'de be happy. This would be the perfect twist for a Zelda game, but I hihgly doubt Nintendo would take the risk... And what was that other IP Nintendo had in development? They announced it togerther with project H.A.M.M.E.R. and it was set in the future, too...
conzer16 Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 I don't believe it, but it's a good idea. Nintendo, take note. I want a game like this soon.
flameboy Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 FAKE! wanna get that in before I say anything else, they aren't kidding anyone. I even think the constantly repeated piece of artwork with a cloaked figure stood on a balcony looking onto a futuristic city, is from the star wars artwork, and some of the other pics looks very matrix-esque as well. On the notion of Zelda being in the future, ok so yeah it's not a bad idea. As long as it isn't like the Shadow the Hedgehog "modernising" that we saw with the Sonic franchise, just doing it for the sake of it. I mean Wind Waker (along with Twilight Princess) sets up this idea that whenever a hero is needed one will arise, so why not turf up in a more futuristic setting, actually think the star wars architecture would be a good founding for this, and if Nintendo decided they can of course always go back to the more traditional zelda and tell another title. why not have a time travel idea again and keep the traditional timeframe there as well... But that "trailer" was just a collection of repeated artwork and poorly rendered models...
Retro_Link Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 A blatent APRIL FOOLS!! However, whilst I origianlly thought the concept would be terrible, it could work! I like the idea of the legend carrying on way into the future, I hadn't really thought about it before, but why wouldn't it! It doesn't matter what the year is; a new Link would still need to arise to fight the evil. Hyrule has become the Coruscant of Zelda, the centre of the universe, or if it's just set on one planet have Hyrule as the capital. The old Hyrule temple could be at it's centre like the jedi temple, with all the new architecture built up around, like Trinity Church in New York, but it would be raised up. It could make for some Fantastic architectural/level design and lighting and a fantastic setting for events throughout the game when you return at different stages.
thirtynine. Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Its possable as they said TP was the last zelda of its kind so who knows.
MindFreak Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 It would be cool, but it wouldn't feel very Zelda-esque, would it? If you had to dodge machine guns, used a laser beam instead of a bow and arrow. If you could be run over by a flying car or something. However, a large, real city-like city in a Zelda-game would be rather cool. With scyscrapers and such.
Owen Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 It's an April Fools, definately not real....However the actual look of the game should become one....looks amazing.

That could be part of the challenge, making sure it had that Zelda feel to it. I think it's very achievable through architectural touches, symbols, and of course the different races/civilisations that you would interact with... There could be the usual Goron's/Zora's etc... and the chance for some new races that have travelled to Hyrule from distant planets, or you travel to their planets. It's straight out of Star Wars I know (Nintendo could create something better), but there could be a jungle temple/planet where a Wookie/Ewok style civilisation could be introduced; it would allow for many new possibilities! And there is no reason why Link couldn't still fight with a sword and shield(except a futuristic version), in the same way that the Jedi still choose to fight with swords (of the future) in a time of laser guns! And maybe the whole 'beam sword' attack in past Zelda games could be expanded on for Links sword!

Daft Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Its an interesting idea but I would rather not see it, at least in this generation.
Retro_Link Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Nooooooo. Why would you want the zelda universe to be star wars-ified. Why?!!!?!I don't know if I would, never really thought about it before, but I could kind of see it working!More than anything I think I'd just like to see the architecture of a futuristic Hyrule and the wonderful cities the Zora's etc... have created! Plus, Zelda could do with a bit of a change somehow! But then I have been watching Star Wars Episodes I-VI lately and have probably just gone a bit Star Wars crazy!
Konfucius Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 I thought about a futuristic Zelda for quite some time now and this comes pretty close to what I would like to see but I doubt Ninty would do and guns just don't fit the Zelda franchise. My idea went a bit different though: with Ganon taking over Hyrule and then many dark centuries followed until the next Hero is born and fights in a futuristic wasteland to free the land and races of Ganons terror. For instance the Gorons could be mining slaves and after you cleared the dungeon they are free and will help you during your quest.
Fierce_LiNk Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Just looking through that, it seemed like more of a Star Wars (the new eps) and Final Fantasy hybrid, with Zelda thrown in for the hell of it. Actually, take out the Zelda elements (e.g. 3 or so pieces of art) and it doesn't seem so great. It was pretty well done, and I don't think the guys deserved the stick they got (read their comments section), but I don't think it will ever happen. Looking at it, it just doesn't look or feel like a Zelda game. If you want all that, maybe Final Fantasy is your thing? Anyway, they didn't deserve to get bashed, but you always run that risk whenever you do something quite so ambitious on April Fool's day.
Emasher Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 i think some of the images were from starwars without even being modified
Owen Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Can i just make my earlier post clearer... I don't want Zelda to become this, i like how it's always been...I meant i like the actual concept of the futuristic look....saying that, it's being done now and has been done before. Zelda set in the future? pfffttt, really would hate it....
