Portlett Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 to be honest I hate that kind fo soloing, id much prefer to hear someone like Frusciante solo, hes got fuckin soul and hes an amazing guitarist, this guy just seems like he's showing off way too much. You can solo all you want but if you can't write to save your life then who really cares.
Pete Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Well I like Pearl Jam and you dont so fair enough friend, on the musicanship thing, well lets just agree to differ on that on that for now but when you used the word awful to discribe creed, there as far as im concerned your bang on the money.
The Bard Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Alright, this conversation is going nowhere if you're going to argue Frusciante's prowess as a soloist. It's...just...No. Never mind the fact that most of his solos sound as if they're played through a bad practice amp, the fact is, he's sloppy. He can write a good song, but that's not really what were debating here, so there's no point bringing that up. And I never said he had writing ability, I just said that he is a far better musician than anyone in Pearl Jam; admittedly, that's not saying very much, but what the hell.
Oxigen_Waste Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Frusciante is the man. Is quite a fine rock guitarist. But that's pretty much it. Fine.
The Bard Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Frusciante is the man. No, he's really not, he's a good songwriter...although, even that's debatable going by his solo work, but he's pretty much a negligible, ordinary guitar player.
killthenet Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Sign me up for the hatred of Pearl Jam and the indifference to John Frusciante.
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 I love Pearl Jam, and hold a special place in my heart for Creed. *holds up big torch of fire* BACK! YOU DEVILS!
Twozzok Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Just about to leave for Brixton, where Bullet for my Valentine (who I think are a bit meh). Though motherfucking Skindred are playing. Which is like, awesome. I love Skindred.
Portlett Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 anyone like fat freddys drop, awesome dub band. And ive just found out theyre playing Bristol in April, sick!
Paj! Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 I made a playlist of 348 songs for a party tomorrow, since you can tell i'll hate the music the host has.
KKOB Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Justice were rather fantastic tonight/last night at the Manchester Academy ^_^ Woop!
Oxigen_Waste Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 So I've stumbled upon that wich is both a fantastic and band. Yoshida Brohters. What to do... Such potential waster away. :S
Platty Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I finally picked up a copy of Bat for Lashes album and love it even tho I have actually seen her twice. She has a kinda Bjork/Karen O sound to her. Some great songs on the album, I like.
Tom Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I finally picked up a copy of Bat for Lashes album and love it even tho I have actually seen her twice. She has a kinda Bjork/Karen O sound to her. Some great songs on the album, I like. i like the album, but i think she is far more listenable live.
chairdriver Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Bat For Lashes = win. I love Horse and I, Seal Jubilee and I Saw A Light.
weeyellowbloke Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Today I picked up Radiodread by the Easy Star All Stars, including such legends as Toots and the Maytails. Basically it's OK Computer covered in a reggae stylee and it's Fantastic (with a capital F).
Paj! Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Bat For Lashes rules the eastern hemisphere. She hasn't really got a Bjorkish voice, just slight similarities in the music. More like Tori Amos if anything.
Calza Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I had heard of Bat For Lashes a while back but never gave it much thought but since you guys are raving on about her I decided to give her a listen. And well you've all put it better than I could ever say so not much point in me saying anything at all. It's just funny how she gets compared so much, one article I saw had Bjork, Sade, PJ Harvey, Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Imogen Heap which were all likened to her. And since I like all of them it seems Fur and Gold is next to buy.
Paj! Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Listening to Stories From The city, Stories From The Sea by Pj Harvey Love this! You really have to be in the mood, and tonight I am. I defo need to buy her other stuff, I only have this and White Chalk.
Twozzok Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Amon Amarth need to come to the UK again !_! Missed them last time
The Bard Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Amon Amarth need to come to the UK again !_! Missed them last time \m/ Down the Slopes of Death \m/.
Paj! Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 I need The Ting Tings and Blood Red Shoes to get albums out. I wish Alice in Videoland albums were easier to get too.
Slaggis Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 I love "I Want You To Want Me" (Letters To Cleo version) Also, I've been listening to Maroon 5, old and new, old is most definitely better.
