Dante Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Publisher Ignition Entertainment today revealed to IGN Wii that it is planning to bring a version of its popular puzzle series Mercury Meltdown to Nintendo's new generation console next spring. The game, fittingly dubbed Mercury Meltdown Revolution, will make use the Wii remote for enhanced tilt functionality, and it will likewise boast updated graphics. "We are thrilled to bring Mercury Meltdown to this ground-breaking game console that truly reinvents the gaming experience," said Paul Robinson, president of Ignition Entertainment. "The Wii Remote is a true compliment to the Mercury series as the original game design was intended for a tilt controller. Now gamers can fully interact with the Mercury blob, navigating through the labs with precision and unprecedented speed." In Mercury Meltdown Revolution, players guide a mercury blob around futuristic environments complete with moving machinery, test tubes, trap switches, spikes, rotating walkways, dangerous ledges, and other obstacles, in order to reach an end-level goal. The Wii build of the title is set to feature more than 150 levels, hidden labs, updated "state of the art blog physics," and a variety of bonuses. The game is being created by Ignition Banbury out of Europe.
dazzybee Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Oh god, everyone leave this thread before the graphics whores get a look at this!!!
Dante Posted December 14, 2006 Author Posted December 14, 2006 Oh god, everyone leave this thread before the graphics whores get a look at this!!! PSP remake btw. : peace:
James McGeachie Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Oh god, everyone leave this thread before the graphics whores get a look at this!!! For anyone who has a clue about the game it should be the other way around, because it's been clearly upgraded a bit from the PSP version, which is cool because most developers would be lazy.
motion Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I enjoyed Mercury 1 on PSP, not played number 2 though.
flameboy Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Well never played it but is one of very few PSP titles that interest me. As for the graphics, they are pretty poor but it is a puzzle game and since when have graphics been important for that genre?
Daft Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I don't like the style, it seems to be a bit too....zany!
dazzybee Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I'm really looking forward to this, love puzzlers, love mercury and it seems a great fit for the Wii... Keep em coming!
Zechs Merquise Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Oh god, everyone leave this thread before the graphics whores get a look at this!!! Sounds great, but looks APPALLING! lol, seriously though it does look like it's on the N64, come on guys!
mike-zim Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 n64 is a compliment. but it looks cool. they could do a little to improve graphic tbh.
James McGeachie Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Sounds great, but looks APPALLING! lol, seriously though it does look like it's on the N64, come on guys! PSP PORT PSP PORT PSP PORT PSP PORT PSP PORT PSP PORT PSP PORT Fucking hell, when a game is transfered from one system to another you cant just hit a "GOOD GRAPHICS" button and make an improvement, for a change from a Dreamcast esque powered system to something around Xbox level you'd have to completely remake the entire games visuals to see any huge improvement...and for a quick port which is all about making money, that's not going to happen.

Still, it's no excuse. They could put some effort in. I'm certainly not one to care for graphics power - but this is poor. I'd be happy to see that on my DS...maybe.
pedrocasilva Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I don't care for this one, mercury is COOL. and a perfect fit for the wiimote.
4q2 Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Marble Madness 2006...... Not really surprising with the Atari name being attached to it though.
raven_blade2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Its another game for Wii. We should gladly be accepting it. If it can even tempt just 10 more customers to buy Wii, it will all be worthwhile. Thats just what I think anyway....
KKOB Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 PSP to Wii seems a little ridiculous! but hey ho its another game on the shelf that might shift some consoles . . . like 2 if your lucky.
small tac Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 Well I'm buying it. Marble Madness was my favorite Amiga game. And its a puzzle game so who cares about the graphics.
thirtynine. Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 http://gonintendo.com/?p=11606 “We’ve had to drop support for the GameCube controller as it’s a very much ‘at developers own risk’ proposition and we’re not masochists!” - Ignition Banbury
Emasher Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 i would never fork over 60$ (cnd) for this game
motion Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 And yet you would for the 15 min wonder WarioWare?
Gizmo Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Looks interesting from the screenies though I have never played it. Looks somewhat similar to Super Monkey Ball / Marble Madness, which I enjoy.
motion Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Mercury Meltdown on the PSP was a lot of fun though I'm not too keen on this graphical 'style'
solitanze Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Well I'm buying it. Marble Madness was my favorite Amiga game. And its a puzzle game so who cares about the graphics. & you'll be one of the ONLY people on Planet Earth to buy this game and this is really unfortunate. We need more people like you to buy these mediocre experimentation games to keep third party developers developing for Wii. If the games don't perform sales wise, they'll flock to Playstation 3 instead...

Anyone that was interested in Super Fruit Fall, or Monkey Ball, or the PSP version will probably enjoy this. I'm not saying it'll be a bestseller, but it'll be alright-ish.
Domstercool Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Average game? Don't know where you got that idea from. It got some great reviews on the PSP.
