  1. I doubt it. They are generally against offering subscriptions of this kind - Like with online play, Iwata has always said that they want to keep it free from subscription costs in order to make their games as approachable as possible. Subscriptions are only used where it's unavoidable (like Pokemon Bank's cloud storage, or Flipnote Hatena's services that are run by... Hatena!) Adding a subscription service seems counter to their goal of making their games as accessible as possible and runs the risk of de-valuing their library (don't forget that most of their games are evergreen sellers, unlike all the major 3rd party pubs whose games sell the majority of units within their first month of sale - so there aren't many sales to lose by sticking them in a "vault")
  2. It didn't take long for the service to become vilified on GAF! On minute it's everyone's darling, then next it's the spawn of Satan It is pretty interesting to watch how it plays out though. I do reckon that it'll probably take off though and that other 3rd party publishers will follow in their wake pretty quickly though... Should create some interesting dynamics between Sony and the 3rd party pubs too. Suddenly the userbase size alone may not be enough to make them the favourites ahead of MS... Fun times!
  3. Looks like Activision are eyeing the performance of EA's service... http://www.gamezone.com/news/2014/08/06/activision-could-pursue-ea-access-like-subscription-plan-once-model-is-proven I reckon that the other publishers will be on this like flies on shit very soon. It didn't take them long to jump on EA's Online Pass bandwagon and I bet they'll be on this even faster... Will Sony give into pressure? Or will they continue to deny the 3rd party publishers the right to offer the service on their platform while Microsoft jump right into the future they always wanted?
  4. Wow! That's a really cool idea! Wonder how that works in stamina matches...
  5. Wow. That came out of nowhere The world suddenly feels a lot darker... Feels like all my favourite actors are dropping like flies
  6. I haven't even 50%ed it yet, let alone 100%! I'm slowly chipping away at it though. Done about 40% odd of the levels so far with every cat rescued so far (think I'm up to about 50 or so cats IIRC). I hate the scaredy cats. I hate them with a passion (oh! You don't want to be rescued? Fine! Go fuck yourself then!) I thought that I'd hate the lucky cats the most, but no. Ugh!
  7. I never had any problems with the controls or the difficulty in general I do have to say that I think that a good few of the stages are a bit too long and convoluted for their own good though. I prefer the shorter and more straight forward levels myself - in general, I wish that the game focused more on the shooting action and less on the exploration elements. It's still a great little game, just wish it was more of a straight forward shooter really, but I still appreciate it for what it is
  8. Nope. We've gone over this before. The August Direct will be either next week or the week after. So sayeth the soothsayer (note: I may or may not be lying to try and bait them into finally starting the N64 VC this week - on that note; Japan isn't getting anything this week either, with Hyrule Warriors out this week as their sole release...
  9. Nothing this week!? Not even a new VC release!? Fine, then that's how much you're getting off me this week then!
  10. OMG! Finally! A criminal team in Pokemon finally decides not to be stupid and play by the rules! It's about fucking time! (ironically it would be arguably the dumbest set of criminal teams in all of Pokemon history that would be the first to finally buck the trend :p ) I do hope that the hoard trainer battles aren't all just the one Pokemon like in the wild though... I want to see 5 different Pokemon that you have to fight against, but the screenshots don't full me with much hope in that regard...
  11. Mii = OP confirmed
  12. For anyone so inclined, there's a sale on Capcom games on the Japanese PSN right now and it includes EX Troopers for ¥1,900 (about £12 - probably more like £16 if you buy PSN cards from Play-Asia). That's easily the cheapest way to get the game and it's brilliant! Finally got it myself recently. Completely 100% playable without any knowledge of Japanese (even if most of the story/characterisation may be lost on you sadly, the menus and where to go and such are all very much self explanatory) and is pretty obviously never getting a western release on PS3 or 3DS at this point unfortunately Still, it's a great game and perfect if you want some simple and uncomplicated shooty fun with some Monster Hunter style trappings (there's a demo for you to try out on there too ) The other JPN only Capcom games on sale are Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (PSP and PS3 - pretty much pointless if you have MH3U though), Mega Man Legends 1&2 PSP (very not import friendly mind you!) and Ultimate Ghosts N' Goblins Kai (an enhanced version of UGNG that we never got in the west that significantly rebalances the game and is 100% import friendly)
  13. It looks like I was wrong! There's one more at least and it's... http://archives.sega.jp/3d/tb/ Yup! The M2 guys got their wish and the running gag got turned into an actual release! This will be the first time that the original Arcade version of Thunder Blade has ever had a home release! Supports gyro controls and dual analog Circle Pad Pro controls and features the rotating cabinet from 3D Galaxy Force 2 & 3D Space Harrier Other features are being kept secret until release
  14. Ha! Love how all the characters are made black & white I wonder if the battery indicator will actually match the 3DS' own built-in battery indicator, like how it does on GB/GBC VC games... (I mean, they're using the same S3D effect as the VC games, so...)
  15. Yeah, I know School Idol Festival (in fact, you were the one that introduced me to it ) Even ignoring the fact that the Vita has a capacitive touch screen and assuming that you were making the game for Wii U or 3DS, you could design around that by having an invisible touch target actually being situated in-between the two icons that you are supposed to touch; cause with a resistive screen, when two parts of the screen are touched simultaneously, the screen registers it as a touch directly in the middle of the two points that have been pressed down (this trick is actually used by a fair few DS/3DS games to simulate multitouch - like the Taiko Drum Master games and Pokemon Black & White's feeling check - I'm sure you've probably seen it used in a good few Wario Ware DIY microgames too ) As for Smash Hit... You got me there. You couldn't release it on the 3DS or Wii U without redesigning the game (I'd design around it by adding a small delay before the marbles are shot out for when you tap multiple times in a short amount of time - but I admit that this does change the intended gameplay design); you could release it as-is for the Vita mind you - but I also admit that it wouldn't really benefit from the shift either... so... Well done! : peace: (thanks for the suggestion BTW, game is good fun - and free of shitty F2P/IAP crap too - just a one time purchase of the premium version. Cheers! )
  16. Sod that, lets use a dual layer disc and go with 50GB! All dose trophies...
  17. Considering the 3DS card size constraints in comparison to a dual layer DVD (unless this is gonna be the first 8GB 3DS card), that's pretty impressive that they've crammed in more trophies than in Brawl
  18. How long till we get the Hitman games and the other last gen Tomb Raiders? Would not mind that one bit
  19. Finally played through Attack of the Friday Monsters and it's a lovely little gem of a game. While there isn't much in the way of gameplay per-say (you mostly just walk around and talk to people - though there is a fun little card minigame that you play with some of them from time to time), it's a really heartwarming little tale of kids being kids (with a huge dollop of crazy added on top for good measure!) Quirky characters, things that make sense to you but not the characters you play as, hints at family discourse that go over the main character's head. It's a really charming and short-but-sweet little tale (with a beautifully sweet sound track to match!) If you love surrealist slice-of-life stuff like Azumanga, My Neighbours the Yamadas, Chulip or Chibi Robo, you'll love this game Just makes me sad now that none of Millenium Kitchen's other games have been localised
  20. Of course it would be. The controls would be more accurate and your finger wouldn't be blocking the screen! That one is just obvious. If that's the best you've got, you may as well stop now cause I'm not really in the mood to go on forever down this line of conversation... At this point, I get the feeling that you're just looking for any excuse for a fight now (I don't appreciate insults and personal attacks, please. I'm not a liar and have no reason to do so) so I'll just bow out here...
  21. Oh nice! I had no idea that was there! (how the hell did anyone think to do that to find it!?) I'll probably keep my HDD's sleep mode on though. The infrequent pauses that happen when the HDD hasn't been accessed for a while don't really bother me and I'd rather prolong its life.
  22. Nice to finally see some Pokeball Pokemon that actually affect the stats of the characters themselves. Makes a nice change from them just becoming stage hazards
  23. Woah... someone's defensive... I HAVE played both actually... What a shocker! (and if you must know, no it's not my 3DS copy - no way would I pay for that garbage...) And an iPad is hardly the most comfortable thing to hold (least of all play a tilting game on) for extended periods of time because they're heavy and don't have their weight distributed in a way that is conductive to playing a game... I would know, I own one. But then again, they're not designed to be ergonomic for long gameplay sessions - they're Jack-of-All-Trades devices for a reason.
  24. I'm surprised that they're going back on their word about the map... I hope there's an option to get rid of it, because I like the tension you get from not knowing how far behind everyone else is... Stats screen is much appreciated though
  25. Some sales breakdown info of the game, provided by Yacht Club Games Glad to see that it has done well so far (Crazy to think that the poor guys had to go on without pay for three odd months when the game got delayed ) And of course they've still got the EU (which I'll be proudly contributing two sales to!) and JPN releases to come; as well as potential sales later on the line too. 180k after a month is a fantastic start! Here's to the future million!
