The reason why Reyn isn't in Shulk's final smash is obviously because he needs to be an assist trophy that shouts out all of the random voice clips that everyone loves from Xenoblade

You know what? Even though I'm super excited to play through the game again on the New3DS, the Wii version will still end up being the better version of the two anyway because of the controls (Wiimote & Nunchuck controls >>>>>> CCPro/New3DS). Plus they'll probably cut out the Japanese voices to save on storage space and put the game out on a 4GB Card (not that I'd ever play the game with anything other than English voices, but still :p ) Even so, those landscapes are gonna look and feel pretty incredible in S3D! The portable nature of play is also a really great fit for doing all of those sidequests too! (even though the cutscenes are gonna be way too long for portable play...)

They have done! You can't fit a full size circle pad there without making the handheld significantly larger though.
-
Hey look! See that big empty space in the bottom right corner? It's empty for a reason
-
Yeah, you'll probably have to wait till Gen 7 for that; it's just the way it always goes with Gamefreak. Each Nintendo handheld (except GBA, since it didn't live long enough), gets the first Pokemon gen game for the base hardware (RBY, DPP) Then later on, after a later revision is released, they release a second Pokemon game that takes advantage of the new hardware (GSC, BW, BW2).
-
Unfortunately they've already said that the spec bump won't affect existing games... The next Pokemon game however... (yeah, Game Freak's Pokemon engine just sucks that much )
-
Looks like the New3DS also has double the RAM of the original 3DS too, if the hackers who are poking around with the 3DS firmware are right... http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=885095 Wouldn't surprise me. GBC and DSi also got very similar RAM upgrades from their progenitors too... GPU will probably get a bump too, since it's clocked the same as the CPU and that said to be getting an upgrade, so it should easily sit a class above Wii x2 (for 3D - wheras it's roughly equivalent to just one Wii right now) now in terms of horsepower

The main difference lies in how you roll your thumb over each input. With the d-pad, you just need to roll your thumb ever so slightly in order to hit each input. With the circle pad however, you need to pull your thumb back much further to be able to move the pad with fidelity. There's no space to move your thumb to the right if the C pad is located in the bottom right (think about how you'd have to move your thumb if you had to move the camera to the right using that 2nd cPad in the bottom right...) There's a good reason why they didn't put it in the "obvious" place...

And then you have the same problem when you try to press the buttons... Either way, you'd have to contort your hands into a claw just to hold the thing Not gonna happen. It only supports 2.4ghz Wifi B/G, so it's not fast enough.

Someone just made a good point to me... With the newly enhanced perfomance of the New3DS... Will it now be powerful enough to support the Unity Engine? That would be very interesting... Suddenly you'd see a lot more indie support for the 3DS eShop literally spring up overnight! With HTML5 support built in as well, they should be able to get a version of Nintendo Web Framework up and running on the New3DS too! Oh and that 2nd circle pad placement is the only way they could've possibly have done it, without massively increasing the size of the machine, for ergonomic reasons. Actually think about how you'd have to hold it if they stuck a full sized circle pad in the bottom right...

Doubt it. It's not like we haven't already had Wii ports on the system (DKCR, Monster Hunter 3), Xenoblade just happens to be opportunistically timed (what with Xenoblade Chronicles X just around the corner) and it also happens to be the single most CPU demanding game ever released for that console (and the original 3DS' weakpoint in comparison to the Wii just so happened to be it's CPU). It's a matter of it being the right game at the right time, nothing more. All of those other games you listed could probably run on 3DS more or less as is (ignoring the obvious control problems that would prevent games like Skyward Sword or Mario Galaxy from being ported), but Xenoblade is a big exception. Speaking of which, I wonder if they'll remove the dual language from the 3DS version of Xenoblade in order to get it to fit onto a 4GB card... The 3DS does support 8GB cards, but so far, the largest one used by a game is 4GB (which so far only DKCR 3D, Metal Gear Solid 3D, Resident Evil Revelations, Bravely Default International and seemingly Smash Bros 3DS use). I could easily see them cutting it out in order to not have to print expensive 8GB Game Cards...

They just reconfirmed that it's coming out in October in Europe and the US is getting it on October 24th, so I don't think that there's any worry of a delay there... It's just a matter of when in October... (and I'm getting annoyed not knowing exactly when )
-
They did this with the the DSi as well. It was released in Nov 2008 in Japan and 5 months later in the west in April 2009... It's almost exactly the same, right down to the letter...
-
FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK... I WANT IT NOW! WHY CAN'T I HAVE IT RIGHT NOW? WHY WHY WHY WHY Over 400 DSi exclusive games were released via DSiware... And plenty of hybrid retail games were released (including Pokemon B/W 1 and 2)
-
This also means that we're at roughly the halfway point of the 3DS' lifecycle (DSi came out 2008 - just a little over halfway through its own lifecycle before the 3DS replaced it). So we're looking at around late 2016/early 2017 for the 4DS. Nice to know that the little 3D handheld that could still has plenty of life left in it
-
They've already said that they do... (also allows cross-game data transfer features too. Level up and customise your characters in Smash and changes get reflected in completely different games too!)
-
Agreed on all counts here though. Insane that they've effectively tanked their 3DS hardware sales until next year by this boneheaded move!
-
You two must be trolling surely? You know that they couldn't do that because existing games and apps wouldn't be able to run at the higher resolution... You wont get a higher resolution screen until the next handheld comes out... BTW, speaking of which. This New3DS also reaffirms their commitment to 3D as the new S3D screen is one of (if not THE biggest) new features of the revised handheld - so the next handheld will certainly also feature an S3D screen (just like they said it would some years back). 2DS was not a sign of their future as some naysayers predicted, merely a cost cutting exercise. Speaking of which, I have no idea how the hell they've managed to build a parallax barrier screen that is able to actually move the barrier in accordance to the user's face! That's amazing! I can't wait to see it in action!!! (WHY 2015!? WHY!?!?!?)
-
BTW, tiny bit more info... http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/new/features/index.html There will by exclusive games and hybrid games too (games that run on 3DS, but feature improved graphics/performance on New3DS). Existing games will not get a boost of any kind. So yeah, exactly the same as what they did with the GBC and DSi before.
-
Yup. Said it in the other topic, but that is just sheer lunacy. They've pretty much destroyed their potential hardware sales until next year now. Getting it out in time for Smash would've been the perfect way to explode hardware sales, now the game is going to barely make a dent
-
Yup, I concur pretty much with all of this... ... the pricing could've been worse I guess...
-
DAMMIT! WHERE'S MY EU RELEASE DATE!?
-
Hey look @Glen\-i He got into the game after all! BTW... Discounted price for 2 copies? I know what I'm picking up on October 4th!
-
Two lots of info. Firstly, we're getting the new DLC that just came out in Japan on day 1 over here for free And secondly, all of the retailer exclusive character costume DLC will be made available on the eShop to purchase separately... http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=884825 Yeah
-
Bear in mind that it'll probably be called something else outside of Japan as they wouldn't have the obvious naming grammatical problem "a new Nintendo 3DS game has been announced!" there that they would have in the west. It'll probably be called the 3DSi or the 3DSPlus or something like that over here.
