  1. Yeah, it really is. The game is actually running in a special mode which unlocks a big chunk of memory and CPU cycles that are normally reserved for system functions. That's why you can't launch Miiverse or the web browser while you're playing the game (and also why the system has to hard reset after you quit the game). Completely justified when you see how good it looks and runs on there! There's a good reason why only the New3DS can handle those functions while running the game (and also probably why they can't support the Circle Pad Pro if they're that strapped for memory...) I wonder if they'll do something similar and shut off something on Wii U like multi tabbed web browsing to squeeze out more memory there too... Down B was FLUDD in Brawl, but the tornado move can be brought back by the customisable moves I believe
  2. Yup! Plays like a dream, but the first thing I'm doing when I get the full game is swapping the L&R buttons, cause having dodge on R and grab on L is super awkward! Who the hell thought that was a good idea to have as the default!?
  3. Already have Steamworld Dig on 3DS, Wii U and Steam. No regrets, it's a fantastic little game! Meanwhile I'm still waiting on Shovel Knight's EU eShop release, where I'll be digging into botn Wii U and 3DS versions like a hobo in a dumpster
  4. Yes yes yes!! Do want do want do want!! I mean, it was always going to happen eventually anyway (where else would it be able to go and connect to the 3DS version?), but the timing of this suggests a possible simultaneous launch in the west... which would explain the delay...
  5. Yeah, it's complete bull! We had better get MMX-3 and MM7 together next week...
  6. Me and Glen-I got codes in the end! It's SOOOOOOO GOOOOODDDD!!!!
  7. Not gotten that far yet, but it's good stuff so far They do a good job squeezing the most out of the magnet gloves mechanic, and it feels good to play (it's also beautiful too). Boss battles are cleverly designed too!
  8. Awesome! They just stealth released MM7 on the eShop in the US! I hope it's on our store as well...
  9. If anyone has some spare codes for me and my family, I'd be sooooo grateful for a PM
  10. Holy crap! Those Toad skulls ARE morbid! Who the hell designed them?! (I like how they're so morbid that even the Treehouse staff pointed it out!) Cause... you know... For kids! Aww... Ultimate NES Remix is just a port? No new content? Well that sucks Edit: Oh wait, Speed Mario Bros? That's new at least
  11. They're not the same game. They each have completely different stages and special modes that are unique to each game. Not to mention different trophies, different music etc. That's like saying that the Mario Golf/Tennis games on GBC/GBA are the same games as the ones released on N64 & GCN! Well that's interesting... I had a feeling that Smash 3DS looked too good for the console it was running on... Turns out I was right! And it's also interesting that developers can disable those features now to save on RAM & CPU cycles. I suspect that this will become quite common with 3DS games from now on... Now I'm EVEN MORE annoyed that the New3DS isn't coming out here until next year!
  12. Why not get it from Amazon instead? Same price, comes with the Skyward Sword costumes and you'll get it on day 1 for sure
  13. Yeah it's insane. It's a good thing that I have a massive backlog that I saved for a rainy day! Cause this drought is just simply brutal My backlog runs out at the end of March next year (playing one new game from it per week - not including the games that have yet to be released; so that'll keep it going a bit longer from there on if needed), so they had better get it sorted by then!! Yeah, there's been some great stuff from independent developers, but I don't like the term "indie" anymore... It's become almost derogatory at this point, for calling them somehow "lesser" games than the "real" ones at retail. There's no bloody difference, a game is a game! Hell, Shovel Knight is my most anticipated 3rd party game of the year, "indie" or otherwise!
  14. Aaaaaannnndddd Shopto preorder... Cancelled! Amazon get my money instead!
  15. Oh no, just pure coincidence. It was always on my list as the first game I play in September For what it's worth, I start Cave Story 3DS tomorrow (Beaten it on Wii and DSi, but I'm looking forward to checking out the new content in this version - like Wind Fortress )
  16. Hmm... This is an interesting comment, considering that recent rumour about an exclusive HD remaster supposedly being on its way to Wii U next year... http://www.twitlonger.com/show/ng78i3 Now, Namco do own the IP AFAIK, but Monolith Soft was the original developer so... Hmm
  17. Good man! That game is incredible! (only just started it last week myself) It's even better than I was hoping it would be! A worth follow up to Kirby Adventure Wii/Kirby Returns to Dreamland so far for sure, even without the co-op.
  18. Sweet! Another offer to abuse the hell out of! You could... if you had two un-used 3DS/3DSXL/2DS Club Nintendo codes and a second Club Nintendo account...
  19. Ahh, so we're finally getting our first look at Ultimate NES Remix. I don't expect to see the kind of crazier stuff we saw in the Wii U games (like the zooming out, or the multiple character control stuff), due to the 3DS' weaker hardware; but it'll be interesting to see if they take advantage of the S3D capabilities in this one
  20. Bayo 2 will assume that you've played the first one, so you absolutely should play Bayo 1 first. Besides, it's an amazing game! You really should play it anyway!
  21. So much for Smash 4 just being Brawl 2.0 :p Smash 4 is its own thing, Whodathunk it? Just like every other Smash game was...
  22. It's the closest thing on Wii U, but I wouldn't necessarily say that you'd enjoy/wouldn't enjoy Bayo 1 & 2 if you liked/didn't like TW101. They share a lot in common in terms of structure and overall game design, but the actual core mechanics are very different. In particular, if you found yourself getting annoyed and frustrated at the platforming elements in TW101 with the sometimes misleading camera perspective, that doesn't apply to Bayonetta for instance. Or if you found yourself getting frustrated at having to swap weapon types or keep track of hundreds of characters, again, that doesn't apply to Bayonetta. And TW101 is fundamentally a much more complex game than Bayo 1, with a much steeper learning curve (except for maybe some people who aren't accustomed to using a 2nd stick to control the camera) and a very foreign and unique control scheme. If you were turned off by TW101's controls, Bayo's control scheme is much more traditional in comparison. Even Viewtiful Joe is probably closer to Bayonetta than TW101 (though of course both games feature elements that directly get re-invented in TW101 ) Really, I can't recommend Bayonetta enough. It's the epitome of the action game genre and my absolute favourite non-Wii/DS game of the last generation!
  23. Next month in Japan. Corocoro magazine is giving out a code to download an OR/AS demo (no word on whether it will be available on the eShop otherwise though). No word on a western release for the demo though...
  24. So we are getting the demo then! Surprised that they actually feel the need to release one at all TBH (same for the Pokemon OR/AS demo)
  25. The Gamepad Camera Obscura looks great! I love how you can rotate it for different angled shots, just like a real camera! I also noticed that they're taking good advantage of it in enemy encounter design as well. Lots of fast moving enemies and ghosts that come from high above you, you'd never get that with a traditional control setup Looks great! Here's hoping a western release isn't too far off (cause if Nintendo are focusing their next year's efforts on games that really take advantage of the Gamepad, they're gonna want this one out ASAP!)
