So I've finally started playing this game (Leon scenario first). I first started off on Hardcore difficulty, because I didn't like the idea of having checkpoints; but quickly realised that the game is just simply not fun on this mode at all (enemies are insane damage sponges and two hits from a normal zombie kills you); so I dropped it down to Normal and started enjoying it much more (the game is clearly balanced around this mode - and Hardcore seems to be nothing more than limited saves + your typical AAA damage number tweaking BS, so I'm glad I dumped it - I'm just limiting myself to using the typewriters sparingly as if I was playing the original). Really enjoying it so far! It's been a very long time since we've seen a proper Action Adventure game get released from anyone and Capcom have done a bang up job with it so far! I like how they haven't slavishly stuck to the original game's gameplay and layout, but rather they have used it as a base and have expanded on its map design. It does indeed feel like the equivilent of REmake for RE2! And quite frankly, I'm absolutely shocked and stunned that Capcom pulled this off! A real, proper Resident Evil game in the HD era is something I never really thought possible; and I'm stunned at how complete the game feels! It feels like nothing was really compromised at all for the sake of graphics and production values; and that's something I have not seen outside of Nintendo/Platinum for a long time! It's an actual, real-deal game! Holy shit! The metroidvania design of the original game is actually intact! Oh my God! And ammo is scarce like it should be! I'm actually running away from most zombies and only killing select ones! (like it should be!). I've even seen a few clever puzzles! (Wow! A lost art in this industry!) It's not all shooty, shooty bang bang! It's like... an actual Resident Evil game! Oh my! I'm up to the garage at the moment and so far it's pretty great! I do have some gripes though; for starters, the new soundtrack is worthless. It's basically nothing but ambient sounds (and the fact that they cut the Safe Room music is utterly criminal! Come on! It's THE iconic music of the original game!); I've switched to the original PS1 soundtrack and I'm not looking back now! I also feel that the game takes itself a bit too seriously; it does seem to lack a bit of the goofy charm of the original so far; and I know that it has to appeal to modern audiences, who basically want it to be a The Walking Dead knockoff, but it's still a bit of a shame that it lacks some of the silly jump scares and charm of the original. Also not a tremendous fan of the controls... was hoping that they'd be more akin to Resident Evil 4 than Resident Evil 6... The game really doesn't need dual analog controls (the aiming is very hard and pretty frustrating; the controls can't keep up with the enemies really), it would've been much better and much more comfortable with RE4's setup. But alas... Another concession to mainstream audiences who need their checklist features I suppose... ... but those are ultimately minor gripes in the grand scheme of things. This is (mostly), the RE2 Remake I've always wanted and I can't believe it actually exists! I can't believe that a game like this could even be made anymore! Actual level design! Actual puzzles! Actual bosses! Actual, good gameplay! It really is 1998 again!

I already asked them on the Kickstarter page. It’s 30FPS on Switch (720p native in Handheld, 720p+ dynamic, with graphical enhancements, in docked). And there’s not going to be any sort of 60FPS “performance” mode unfortunately. Disappointing, but then again, Metroid Samus Returns on 3DS was 30FPS and that didn’t kill the experience; so maybe it’ll still be alright on Switch? I’m probably gonna play it on PC though. A shame, because I wanted the Switch version the most.

That's quite a varied list! I'm pleased! Glad to see you lot proving stereotypes wrong -
Yes I will! Looking forward to it muchly!

Me thinks that the title needs to be updated... I don't think it's coming to Wii U anymore...

FINALLY!!!! WE HAVE A RELEASE DATE!!! Along with a very nice graphical improvement to boot June 18th for PC/PS4/XB1, June 25th for Switch. It's finally coming out!! Can't wait!

Interesting... Looks like Boxboy+Boxgirl was made in Unity! It's not obvious from this picture, but that is indeed Boxboy+Boxgirl's copyright screen This is the first time HAL have ever used an outside engine AFAIK! That makes this only the second time a Nintendo affiliated studio has used an outside game engine! (excluding NST with Snipperclips; which is an internal studio).

That's only for Nintendo of America; who only deal with localisation and marketing. Not actual game development. Nintendo's developers in Japan absolutely, assuredly, crunch like mad. It's just systemic within Japanese culture; and Nintendo is super traditional (being a Kyoto company). There are plenty of old interviews where the likes of Miyamoto have spoken about how they typically work past midnight. That's not really a games industry thing there though, that's a Japan thing in general. Oh! BTW... ... new video!

Nintendo doesn't want people sharing porn on Switch obviously

Wait... So does that mean that Final Fantasy 7 is now the best game for Switch? (I'd be down for putting that on my eventual Switch list!) I get the feeling that this final list isn't going to be all that varied, but hopefully my nominations will shake things up a bit... Banjo Tooie Conker's Bad Fur Day The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Star Fox 64/Lylat Wars Perfect Dark I'm really stuck between SM64 and Star Fox 64 though! Both will likely make it onto the nominations list though, so I suppose it's a wash really -
You can continuously click the right stick to keep centring the camera on Mario as he moves... ... otherwise get a swivel chair

I think with BOTW, the worst thing isn’t the frame rate per-say; it’s the way the camera works. The way it snaps back and forth is really sick inducing! If the game were presented in a 180 degree format (like SMO’s cutscenes) I think it would work better and probably wouldn’t be so nauseating!
-
BOTW in VR is straight up vomit inducing! It looks alright, but the camera outright makes me feel nauseous! Mario Odyssey fares much better though! It’s pretty fun!
-
It'll be Animal Crossing. It's easily gonna be their biggest game this year (and it's their biggest IP that has yet to hit Switch).
-
Nope! We were all wrong! Nintendo failed to even hit 17 million! (16.95M). Software did gangbusters, but the hardware sales are lower than anyone expected! They didn't even hit their revised forecast!
-
So much for all of those silly Switch Mini timing rumours! BTW, I take great interest in that Kart Koopa!
-
I'm betting on around 18 million myself. They definitely won't hit 20 million, but it'll still be a good result I suspect that the only new announcements here will be release dates for Dr Mario World and Mario Kart Tour.

I quite enjoyed this week's Jimquisition... He makes some intersting points about how publishers siphon away resources from developers who aren't working on mainstream guaranteed hits; and stack the odds against them. This industry is notorious for its use of self-fulfilling prophecies. Their consistant snubbing and sabotaging of Nintendo platforms is a prime example. But it's interesting to see how this is true within publishers themselves too.

Well they did say that the Naomi games wouldn't start coming until the initial 15 game wave of titles was released... ... now that we know the first 15 games though, hopefully that means we'll start seeing Naomi/Dreamcast and Saturn games come to the SEGA AGES line!
-
Yeah... shopping for DS games is very hard now. It's very very hard to avoid fake copies now. Thankfully GBA is nowhere near as bad as it used to be (and the availablity of games on the Wii U VC helps too), but DS is so bad right now. I absolutely would never buy a DS cart unless I could either see it in person, or have a good photo of the circuit board beforehand. There are just far too many fakes out there now.
-
Ahh man, that really sucks when you realise that you've got a pirated cart... DS is absolutely infested with them on eBay now. It's virtually impossible to avoid them sadly... though ironically, GBA isn't as bad as it used to be anymore! What game was it?
-
You could try a combo of compressed air and a toothbrush/toothpick? Otherwise, you'd probably have to open it up I reckon.
-
No they don't. Those aren't standard capacitive styli, but instead they are called an "Active Stylus". They require a device that has a special screen that has a digitiser underneath it and also require their own bluetooth connection and battery power. They allow for the incredible level of accuracy you get from a resistive touch screen, on a capacitive one. They are also pressure sensitive and can also distinguish between your hand and the stylus, allowing you to rest your hand on the actual screen itself and it won't interfere with drawing! It's the number 1 thing I want from a new version of Switch! They're amazing! They solve every problem I have with capacitive screens; unfortuntely, they're still quite expensive (and devices that support them are also very expensive).
-
It gets better! They're actually giving Kid Dracula NES a full English localisation!! What a horrible day to have an English localisation! Honestly shocked! I was absolutely expecting them to see them just dump the Japanese ROM on there and call it a day! I can't believe that Konami of all publishers is actually putting the effort in to give a brand new localisation to a (previously) Japan-only NES game!! That's amazing! If only we could get Nintendo to give the NES and SNES Fire Emblems the same treatment...

I can fix that for you... ... There's plenty of bonus videos from normal stages too that @Glen-i has been too lazy to post himself as well; so I did that for him too... ... YOU'RE BLOODY WELCOME!!
