The Direct was fucking amazing!! 100% class act all the way through! Some absolute bombshells dropped and a great showing all round. Really impressive, especially considering that only one new first party game was announced! Jesus fuck! Banjo in Smash AND Seiken Densetsu 3 in English! (PLUS a full AAA remake too!?) They aimed that STRAIGHT at me!

Wow! Trials of Mana was localised into full EFIGS!! That’s amazing! I was expecting English only!!

In short, yeah, mondo impressed with FF7 remake! The combat system looks shockingly competent! And I love the way they mixed in the ATB system with the real-time combat! I was saying in the other thread about how it got me thinking that Platinum Games might be involved; as the action combat looked uncharacteristically good for S-E! That being said though, I totally called the first part not going beyond Midgar. It’s clear that even the full game will be a hugely abbreviated version of the original game; there really was just no way that they could make a HD FF game of the same level of scope as the original PS1 game. Still, just looking at it for what it is? I’m very impressed! It looks legit great! And it looks like a blast to play! The other announcements were nice. Very glad to see Romancing Saga 3 finally get an English release (after being teased so long ago!), while Scarlet Grace is long overdue. The Last Remnant on Switch is also a nice surprise, always been interested in it; considering that it comes from the Saga team and is meant to be pretty unique and interesting. Dragon Quest 11s looks absolutely stunning! An absolute black magic port! Looks nigh on identical in terms of visual fidelity; and the extra features look really robust (but most importantly; the 2D version does look to be the full 3DS experience! ) Only thing that was a bit of a downer was the lack of a Collection of Mana announcement; but I am absolutely certain that’s being saved for tonight’s Ninty Direct. It’s the only S-E leak that hasn’t yet become a reality and considering the lack of an announcement for DQB2 on Switch at S-E’s event (where we already know that Nintendo is publishing the Switch version in the West), it’s safe to say that the same thing is happening with CoM in the West; so it’ll be announced tonight!

Called it! Part 1 (of two) is Midgar only. What I didn’t call though was just how good the gameplay looks! Holy cow! The combat looks fantastic! I love the way they’ve integrated the ATB system into the real-time combat! Honestly? I’m starting to wonder if Platinum Games are involved in the combat system... it looks suspiciously competent for a S-E game... From the core combat, to the use of the environment for gameplay; I find it very hard to believe that S-E were capable of making this by themselves... So it looks like it’ll be a hugely abbreviated version of the original game; with a vastly reduced scope. That’s exactly what I was expecting (and really? It was the only way this game could ever be made with the fidelity they’re targeting). Most of the original content from FF7 will likely not be represented in the final game. But that doesn’t mean that this game won’t be great on it’s own merits. I’m enormously impressed by what they showed! It looks like an absolute blast to play!

Yup. Spot on. RE2 counts as an N64 game for this reason; while RE3 and RE Code Veronica count as GCN games. We’ve done this to prevent duplicate listings (or else Ocarina of Time would be eligible for five different Nintendo consoles!) and to reflect only the original console’s libraries being judged here (or else we get into some pretty ridiculous territory here; especially considering Virtual Console!) Likewise, Breath of the Wild will be counted as a Wii U game under the same reasoning as Twilight Princess being a GCN game.

Still very suspicious about this initial release... They're still not showing anything past the first 2 hours or so of the original game... If tonight's trailer doesn't show anything beyond this point, I suspect that there won't actually be much beyond that point in this initial release... (they're certainly not getting out of Midgar here)

Yeah. Microsoft are basically taking the year off. There's Gears 5 and sod all else until next year. Their 2020 lineup does look pretty solid though.

Doom Eternal looks absolutely bloody amazing!!! The multi-layered level design! The insane variety and complexity of the enemies and encounter designs! IT LOOKS SO GOOD!!! A real, proper handcrafted game! Was actually worth sitting through just to see it. I need it NOW!!
