Last year had Donkey Kong Arcade and Sky Skipper being announced and released as ACA games that same day.

I really like how Astral Chain is much more than a straightforward action game. It actually mixes in some really cool police detective gameplay; and some really cool puzzle solving! It's actually really genre bending and pretty unique! Really feels like a proper action adventure, rather than just stylish action. That's awesome! And exactly the kind of game Switch desperately needs! Can't wait! GOOD LORD THE COMBAT!!! THE BOSSES!!! EVERYTHING!! IT ALL LOOKS BONKERS AMAZING!!
-
I love how Astral Chain forces you to follow the law to the letter as a police officer. It's gonna be the best rubbish collecting simulator ever made!
-
Dunno. I think the last one was about 4-5 hours, so I'd guess that there's probably another hour or so left.
-
Ugh... Too many recycled games here! Come on! Show us something new!
-
I meant the original versions, not the DS/PS remakes (which were animated). The original versions of DQ1-5 had no animations for the sprites (and this 2D mode is meant to evoke nostalgia for that era of DQ specifically).
-
They weren't animated on 3DS, nor in the 2D DQ games (except DQ6). So that's not unexpected.
-
DQ11S is pure witchcraft! It looks like an amazing port! (and the orchestrated music is just amazing!) The new content looks very substantial too! Ahh... 2D switching isn't seamless... Looks like the game treats it as an entirely different game/save file. Interesting that 2D mode brings back random encounters!
-
I think that'll be post-release...
-
Going by past history, we should be getting something newly announced today as well... Could be tomorrow, as part of the indie block, though; but historically speaking, it's usually the second day when they show off something that wasn't in the main Direct...
-
Same, but they usually do this every year; so it's not new here. At least they're approaching SMM2 a different way this time around; kind of neat that they're showing off how the Invitational levels were built. Also highlights how there's an appeal in just experimenting with how SMM2 works, which is cool for newcomers
-
No they didn't... Dragon Quest 11 was developed by Orca, NOT Square Enix. None of the DQ games have ever been developed in-house (with the sole exception of DQ10). S-E have never managed to make a game of this kind of scale in HD (especially not an action RPG)... except for Kingdom Hearts 3 (which took them about 5-6 years to make). So it really is shocking to see it come from them! And it looks complete in a way that other S-E HD games just... aren't! I do wonder if Greezo are actually making this; considering that they made the original game when they were part of Squaresoft back in the 90s...
-
The Trials of Mana remake looks bloody fantastic! They've really nailed the look and feel; and the gameplay looks brilliant! Can't believe that we're getting this remake AND the original!! It's hard to believe that modern S-E is even capable of making something like this!
-
Bloody hell! I still can't believe that we have Seiken Densetsu 3 in English! It's just amazing!! God I hope that we see M2 go back and localise more classic titles... Would love to see the classic JPN only Fire Emblem titles finally get a proper localisation, HINT HINT M2!!!

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening REMAKE — 20th September 2019
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
BOTW was fine on Switch. Slowdown was only limited to a select few places and was really overblown by nerds online. It was 30FPS like 99% of the time. The Wii U version on the other hand? Now that was a total shitshow. The Ganon fights and Hyrule Castle were pretty much 10-15 FPS all the time. 30FPS was a rarity there; and it's clear that they just gave up on optimising it once they decided to make a Switch version. -
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening REMAKE — 20th September 2019

For a 2D Zelda? Yeah, it kind of is a disaster actually. Would be the first ever top-down Zelda to not run at 60FPS. It's especially bad considering that it jumps back and forth between 60FPS and 30FPS depending on the scene. Quite frankly, it's just not up to the standard you would expect from Nintendo and I'm shocked that they've deemed this to be acceptable; especially for a Zelda game (you know, Nintendo's flagship series). 2D Zelda games should be fast and fluid to play, and the fast-paced action gameplay does really rely on a smooth 60FPS; which should be very achievable with a top-down perspective, where the developers have complete control over what is being displayed at all times. 3D Zelda has always been 30FPS (20FPS on N64), and that's fine. Those games have a large scope and a slower pace, 30FPS is the right choice there. 2D Zelda though? Nope. Has always been 60FPS, and they're much faster paced; so the action really relies on that faster refresh. 30FPS is going to feel terrible for Link's Awakening. It kind of indicates that Nintendo just didn't have their priorities right in development with this game; prioritising visual fidelity over smooth gameplay. I'm very disappointed to see them let their quality slip here, it's really not like them... It really doesn't speak well about Nintendo's current development direction -
Yeah, I've had it since it first came out in 2017; but simply haven't had time to play it. I've always wanted to play FE Gaiden; and I love the old FE games (pre-Awakening), so I can't wait to finally get the time to really sink my teeth into it! I was initially really interested in Three Houses, since it was purposely taking a lot of ideas and concepts from Gaiden/SOV; but sadly it looks like they've all taken a backseat to the pandery, Persona knockoff stuff in the final product

I just caught up with yesterday's LM3 Treehouse Live video a couple of hours ago... Bloody hell! This game looks INCREDIBLE! It really looks like NLG took the critisism of LM2 to heart and fixed pretty much everything. The interconnected level design looks fantastic! (so multilayered! so much variety and creativity on display!) The boss ghosts look BRILLIANT, everything about it just looks utterly superb! (including the visuals; easily the best looking Switch game!). It just looks so fun! And so well designed! It really looks like everything I was hoping it would be! Can't bloody wait! It's exactly the kind of handcrafted, single player action adventure game I've been waiting so long for on Switch from Nintendo! Same! Absolutely loved the Scarescraper mode in LM2, so I'm thrilled to see it come back! And it looks even better than before in this stream! Edit: Oh snap! 8 player support!?

I dunno if I can deal with all of this insane busy-work with FETH. I might just skip it altogether; it's really not aimed at me anymore... I play Fire Emblem for the strategy gameplay, not to play a knock-off Persona. I'm not interested in all of the romancing crap and all the stat minutia; I want a good strategy game first and the RPG stuff second. I still need to play FE:Fates and Shadows of Valentia anyway. I didn't really like Awakening at all (very poorly balanced game, with some absolutely BS design choices that were clearly made without Classic Mode in mind at all), so I'm not really enamoured by Fates (or Three Houses so far), but I'm looking forward to finding time to play SOV at least!
-
Yeah, I was just about to say. This map looks more interesting; I like the more labyrinthine maps of the FE games, so this looks a lot more promising
-
Bloody hell! Is this a Fire Emblem game or a Football Manager game!? The amount of out-of-battle management stuff is insane! I will definitely be using the auto-tutor option... if indeed I even play this one... So far I'm not impressed with the gameplay. It just looks WAY too focused on the RPG busy-work mechanics and not enough on the actual strategy gameplay. Also the setting/scenario is super offputting for me... Especially since they just confirmed that you can romance your own students... No thanks. The whole game's visuals look shockingly crap. It's jag city and the environments and animations look rubbish. The 3DS games looked great, so its really surprising how bad FETH looks... The only thing that looks good is the UI. It's not normally THIS in-depth. It's normally much more focused on the actual strategy gameplay. Here, the core gameplay looks almost like an afterthought

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening REMAKE — 20th September 2019
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Wow! The framerate looks REALLY bad! Why is it struggling so much!? Inside areas seem to be 60FPS, but then the overworld drops to 30FPS!? The hell is this!? How did they consider this acceptable!? Especially after ALBW, which was flawless; even in S3D. Wow... Nintendo's quality standards are really slipping -
Grandia & Grandia II HD remasters heading to Switch
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
So it's based on the inferior PS1 version and not the original Saturn version? (The 2D battle background is a dead giveaway), and they gave all the sprites that typical ugly emulation filter? Very disappointing. At least it still has the original voice acting; I have a soft spot for it, so I'm glad they manage to wrangle the rights from Sony for it. Otherwise, it looks like a basic port of the PS1 version, reformatted to run in widescreen and with a high-res HUD. -

Wonder what reveal they’ll save for the Treehouse Live this year... there’s always at least one...
