  1. My copy is here! 4 long years after I Kickstarted it! It's finally real and in my hands! (not that I'm gonna play it for a little while until the bugs and kinks are worked out. Symphony of the Night does indeed play like Bloodstained (as do all of the GBA/DS Castlevania games). I actually think that SOTN is one of my least favourite of the Igavania games personally (Aria of Sorrow is my favourite), but definitely play the Igavanias! You'll love them! The three GBA Castlevanias are all available on the Wii VC BTW! Unfortunately, the DS Castlevanias were not released on there; and might be a bit hard to track down now (especially ones that aren't bootleg copies - DS game bootlegs are utterly rampant now unfortunately), but you should absolutely get all of the Igavanias on PS1/GBA/DS without hesitation! (Even though Harmony of Dissonance is a bit rubbish). You will absolutely love them to pieces!
  2. Mate, I love Metroid and all, but let's be honest; the series isn't exactly known for its stellar boxart... Says literally nothing about the game except that you can shoot things. Gee thanks! Samus on a generic rocky background. Exciting. RIDLEY ISN'T EVEN THE RIGHT SODDING COLOUR!! COME ON!!! Wow! Stock artwork randomly scattered on a blank background with Samus in front of it. Says absolutely nothing about what the game is about. My First Photoshop Job: Complete with standard, out of the box, Outer Glow effect. Exciting. Nothing about this box makes any sense. Where is that explosion even coming from!? Literally looks like a temporary fan mock up. LOOK! It's Samus + Samus + Samus!!! Metroid 3! Geddit!? Hilarious. What the hell happened with Samus' torso!? Also, yet another utterly generic box, with stock art randomly thrown about, that says absolutely nothing about the game! Yeah... I love the Metroid series; but I don't love its box art
  3. TBH all mainline Pokemon games have utterly rubbish boxart. They definitely suffer from Metroid Box Art Syndrome.
  4. You do realise that means that you're saying that Zekrom is better than Groudon here... right?
  5. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Zero Escape Volume 1: Nine Persons, Nine Hours, Nine Doors The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks Pokemon Black/White Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky BTW, here is a list of DSiWare titles; since they are also eligable for nomination (Note that all of the Art Style games are eligable, despite some being remakes of games from the GBA Bit Generations series, such as Art Style: DigiDrive, because the DSiWare versions were the first time they were released outside of Japan). We did debate SM64DS; but ultimately decided that it wasn't different enough. It's just not on the same tier as something like Metroid Zero Mission, or Resident Evil Remake; which are basically entierly different games that share almost nothing in common with their original counterparts, outside of an overarching setting and key story beats. Unlike those examples, SM64DS is ultimately, the same game as the N64 original with extra content and some new mechanics; despite the initial flow of the game being changed. Same deal with Kirby Superstar Ultra (as much as I love that game) and Diddy Kong Racing DS.
  6. Yeah, I’d probably give my vote to Metroid Zero Mission as well. Metroid is the best series in the genre and MZM is just the most polished and well crafted example of that series. There are a lot of close contenders within that same series (including all three Prime games, Super and Fusion) and a lot of great examples outside of the series; but if I have to pick just one? I’ll go for MZM!
  7. Got my Mario Maker stylus today... VERY happy with it! It’s easily the best capacitive stylus I’ve ever used! Sushi Striker is actually properly playable now! Despite being a capacitive stylus, it actually feels more like using a pen and not a crayon, like most capacitive styli! It’s not quite at the same level as a traditional resistive stylus, but I could definitely see myself playing games like Kirby & The Rainbow curse with this!
  8. Really happy to see that most people seem generally very happy with the game itself. Does seem like it really was worth all of the wait! Really looking forward to sinking my (vampire) teeth into this game!
  9. Think I'll wait a little bit for them to iron out these initial issues before playing...
  10. That's a really neat idea, doing developer Let's Play commentary on your own levels! Enjoyed watching that Maybe I can do some for my own... I put a lot of care and thought into the design of my own ones... Would be a nice way to get myself back in the groove for SMM2! Especially if others here would be interested in getting in on it! Maybe we could even turn it into a little article for the main site if there's enough interest? @S.C.G? @RedShell?
  11. Of course Devolver won, they always win; and rightfully so! Surprised that he was so generous to Microsoft here; especially considering how 2020 heavy it was.

  13. I'm still shocked that Mario Kart Double Dash didn't get a single vote! What the hell happened there!? Also surprised that neither Pikmin game got into the shortlist! There are SO many other games I wanted to include but just... couldn't. I actually did originally vote for Super Monkey Ball 2, but had to stealth edit at the last moment once I realised that I forgot to include Resident Evil 4... which I simply couldn't abide by! BTW, that final GBA list was amazing! What a fantastic (and surprising!) top 10! Great job guys!
  14. Looking forward to playing this one. Looks super fun!
  15. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/06/sega_ages_space_harrier_coming_soon_to_the_switch_eshop_in_japan Space Harrier SEGA AGES is a port of the 3DS version with an option for the same motion controls as the Wii VCA version; and a new easy mode of sorts that gives you a barrier and... dog allies!?
  16. The lack of DK Jungle Beat is an absolute crime! You should be ashamed of yourselves! ASHAMED!! Still a good list overall though.
  17. Yup. I really hope this is an old demo; because it’s really jarring and offputting. It will affect how the game plays... That being said, Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2 got significant performance improvements mere months before they launched; so there is precedent for this on Switch.
  18. This game needed another year in the oven. I knew Game Freak were being stretched way too thin. Something had to give and it's a damn shame that it was Sword/Shield itself that bore the brunt of it. Hilarious to think that Pokemon Home is literally completely useless now; that was clearly never the original plan. And dynamaxing is blatantly a corner cutting exercise, since it's just the existing models being enlarged; super easy thing to add in comparison to Mega Evolution. Thanks for wasting everyone's time Let's Go!
  19. Kinda funny that E3 actually took away a first party title from this year’s lineup (and contained only a single new first party announcement; that probably isn’t coming out until 2021); and yet the lineup still looks packed!
  20. It's funny just how Dark Crystal's visuals absolutely blow away Fire Emblem Three Houses'
  21. The game was just shown on Treehouse Live and it looks AWESOME!! I absolutely love the idea of having the final level open up right at the beginning; it's the one good idea from BOTW done justice! Also love the way they've nicked the Wario Land 3 thing where they have a link between the overworld and platforming levels; where things change depending on what you do outside the level! The actual platforming gameplay looks brilliant too! Very DKCR/DKCTF esc! Great showing! Really looking forward to it
  22. Yooka Laylee IL looks fantastic!! Great showing! Really looking forward to it!
  23. Nice!! The Contra Collection actually includes brand new 60hz versions of all of the PAL Probotector games! They all display correctly and play at the proper speed! Awesome! (You can also select the original 50hz versions, if you like worse gameplay). That’s really awesome! We finally have proper playing versions of robot arse kicking! Everybody wins! Also, screw the haters, I’m really looking forward to Contra Rogue Corps! The visuals don’t look amazing, but it looks like a proper sequel to Neo Contra and that game was awesome!
  24. Good thing that the Switch can run off its battery when the power is cut! Or else it would've completely ruined their demo playthrough!
  25. Last year had Donkey Kong Arcade and Sky Skipper being announced and released as ACA games that same day.
