  1. Yeah, that’s how I kind of feel about the R&C series as a whole. They’re... fine. They’re perfectly ok & inoffensive games that have perfectly perfunctory gameplay; but they don’t really do anything exceptional outside of their lush presentation.
  2. Fire Emblem Warriors was also New3DS exclusive; as were a bunch of smaller eShop titles (mostly ones that ran on the Unity Engine). Not to mention the SNES VC titles. Every single 1st party release after 2014 was also New3DS enhanced in some manner (usually loading times, but often games would also get New3DS exclusive S3D support or a notable FPS boost).
  3. The console will download stuff when kept on standby, so long as the option is turned on in the Standby settings menu. One thing to keep in mind is that downloads will be a LOT slower if you have a game running in the background (which is most likely why you’re seeing such variable download speeds). If you want to download a game at max speed? Quit whatever games you’ve got suspended in the background.
  4. If you're gonna pick up Silvergunner remixes? Then there's only the one I can possibly pick...
  5. Right! Let me give you a brief breakdown of this book... What this book is A collection of previously Japanese-only articles from both Iwata Asks and from the Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun (“The almost daily Itoi newspaper” - a website/blog run by Shigesato Itoi and his company Hobonichi which features philosophical musings from both Itoi and other guests, of which Iwata was a frequent attender). For a bit of context, Hobonichi were also the guys responsible for organising the Iwata Asks series of interviews. A short biography of the life of Satoru Iwata; particularly his early years. A collection of a few newly conducted post-humous interviews with Shigesato Itoi and Shigeru Miyamoto about their relationship with Satoru Iwata throughout his life and some reflections on his ongoing legacy. A book about philosophical musings, some of which will be familiar from the Iwata Asks series, others may not be so familiar to you. Some of these musings pertain specifically to the philosophy behind the development of specific games and Nintendo consoles, while many others are more generalist in nature and cover things such as management, the human condition and artistic pursuit in general. What this book is not An expose on Nintendo’s inner workings. A collection of never-before-revealed game development facts & reveals. A collection of gaming trivia. Iwata’s thoughts on rival companies or other developers (outside of Miyamoto himself). If you are looking for a book filled with video game scandal and intrigue? You won’t find it here (go read Jason Schreier‘s new book instead!). If you enjoy the more philosophical side of the Iwata Asks series though? You will very much like this book. Basically the entire thing. This thing is pretty much a philosophy book.
  6. Yeah, the 1997 PC version of S3&K actually had alternative music tracks for a number of stages (including Carnival Night Zone, Launch Base Zone and Ice Cap Zone; amongst some other tracks). For decades, people had no idea why this version (and only this version of the game) had these alternative tracks in place of the MD "originals"... until fast forward all the way to November 2019, and all of a sudden, a prototype version of Sonic 3 surfaces with... you guessed it! The "alternative" music tracks from the 1997 PC release! It turns out that the PC music tracks were the originals all along! And it confirmed the long-held theory that Michael Jackson and his crew DID contribute music to the final, released MD version of S3&K. For context, the (basically confirmed) reason why S3&K has not seen any form of re-release since 2011 is because of the discovery & release of a certain, previously unreleased song by a little known band called The Jetzons... a band that MJ Keyboardist/composer Brad Buxer used to be part of back in the early 80s... The song in question? Why hello there Ice Cap Zone! Brad Buxer was also one of the music composers who worked on S3&K... He repurposed one of his previous compositions, that was never previously released, for S3&K's Ice Cap Zone. And following this discovery? All of a sudden, S3&K re-releases just... stopped. I wonder why... To make matters worse, Brad Buxer also basically confirmed a long-held fan theory... Sonic 3's End Credits theme was indeed a prototype version of what would eventually become MJ's Stranger in Moscow. Something that would, undoubtedly, become a licensing nightmare and a potentially massive source of litigation against SEGA for the millions of copies of Sonic 3 previously sold with unlicensed MJ music. So yeah, I fully expect the "offending" music tracks to get replaced in this Sonic Origins collection; most likely with the actual, original music from the Sonic 3 prototype (but it could be also be a set of new compositions too).
  7. Got mine last night; gonna curl up with it today
  8. To be fair, it WAS always really weird that Snake wasn’t in Super Bomberman R... Even Ebismaru got in for Christ’s sake!
  9. Good for fans of the brain dead Boost Sonic games. And good on SEGA for spelling their game correctly! (I’m looking at YOU Paper Mario Koloor Splash!)
  10. There’s no Switch Pro coming out this year because Ubisoft haven’t leaked it yet
  11. It’s being made on UE5... https://www.resetera.com/threads/dragon-quest-xii-the-flames-of-fate-to-run-on-unreal-engine-5.432203/ So yeah... definitely a Sony purchased exclusive and definitely not coming out until 2023/2024 at an absolute minimum (2025 is most likely though I reckon). Hey! Switch 2 will be out by then though, so maybe it’ll get the inevitable Definitive Edition version in 2026/2027?
  12. Honestly? Dragon Warrior 7’s original (terrible) PS1 localisation wasn’t far off that jokey picture...
  13. I wonder if Square-Enix would dare go back to the Dragon Warrior name for this game in the west... I mean, this game is basically being made for a western audience with Japanese players being considered secondary (ALA Monster Hunter World); and it’s got mad early 2000’s teen-angst PS1 vibes going for it already. Also, calling it now, Sony have paid for this to be a PS5 exclusive (in Japan at the very least).
  14. I don't know what the hell this is, but it looks cute, I want it and it's getting a simultaneous worldwide release!
  15. 2022 release in Japan... no western announcement yet. It's almost certainly coming though
  16. Oh HELL yes!!! Just hook it into my veins!
  17. The early-mid 2000s are back boys!
  18. Yeah, there ought to be a lot on MS' plate this go around. Time for them to come out swinging!
  19. Nice to see Microsoft sticking to tradition Would sure be nice if Nintendo & Sony followed suit...
  20. Oh wow!! https://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/snes/magical_drop_ii The SNES version of Magical Drop 2 on NSO is actually a previously unreleased English localisation!! That's awesome!!
  21. New trailer! Proper gameplay footage too!
  22. Welcome back Valstrax
  23. Same here. About damn time!!
  24. Well this is interesting... looks like the Japanese version is using the English logo! Don't think that's ever happened before?
