Surprised more developers haven’t treated Switch as a dumping ground for cheap Wii ports. Feels like the obvious thing that these western publishers would do.

Mario Artist Talent Studio - All N64 Games
Dcubed replied to Cube's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Oh! Had no idea that the N64 version of DDG supported the mic! That’s cool. -
A great idea in all honesty. China Hero has been one of Sony's most successful projects this generation and one of the smartest moves they've made. Just imagine their console without Genshin Impact or Stellar Blade. Makes perfect sense to extend the initiative to other developing regions.

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack: N64 & SEGA Mega Drive (& GBA!!)
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
IT IS DONE!!!! That is now officially everything unlocked in single player mode! It won't be true 100% completion until I've beaten the Special Assignments, beaten every stage/difficulty in co-op and beaten every Combat Simulator challenge in 1/2/3/4 player, but as far as single player unlocks are concerned? We are done! Oh? And just in case you're wondering... No save states used. Done 100% legit! -
Thanks to everyone who joined for a fun night Got a couple of funny clips that I’ll upload at some point later.

@Ike! I can’t believe how much that jammy Lightning saved you right at the end of Sunshine Airport there!!!

I can host if @BowserBasher or @S.C.G can’t make it in time. I’m off work tonight, so I’ll be IN! Just gonna have to tear myself away from these endless failed attempts at Attack Ship Perfect Agent to do so…

So I’m now up to Attack Ship on Perfect Agent and… uhm… … yeah… this is an endless nightmare… Edit: SOMETIMES VENTING WORKS!!!! Just one more main mission to go!!! -
Heads up, Glen-i can’t make it tonight, so @BowserBasher will have to host instead.

Also, not that it’s particularly relevant in this case, exclusives can leverage the unique qualities of hardware/controller input that non-exclusive titles simply just can’t. A game like Astro Bot simply couldn’t be done on any other console for instance. If it were a multiplatform title, it’d lose everything that was special about it.

The 27' version of the Spatiallabs glassesless 3D display is finally out! https://store.acer.com/en-gb/acer-ds2-gaming-monitor-3d-spatiallabs-view-psv27-2-black Anyone got a spare 2 grand to throw my way as an early xmas present? On a related note... looks like Samsung are now throwing their own hat into the ring, having announced their own line of glassesless S3D displays (seemingly using the same tech as Acer's Spatiallabs line of screens). https://www.theverge.com/2024/8/21/24225133/samsung-odyssey-3d-gaming-monitor-glasses-free-announcement Am loving this newfangled revival of the 3DS' S3D tech! Long may it continue!

Nice to see that the Wii Nunchuck lives on Great initiative, also great to see MS opening up their accessibility line of controllers to 3rd parties like 8bitdo. Makes their accessibility controllers more... well... accessible!

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp ( Mobile Game. Out Late Nov )
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
That's really cool that they're offering an offline, MTX free version that is a one-time purchase. It's probably what they wanted to do originally before they were forced into making their mobile games F2P to begin with. Ironically, this actually makes the game a much better experience and potentially worth actually playing for me now Hopefully they'll eventually do the same with Super Mario Run and remove the always-online connection requirement. Game is a complete non-starter as it stands. I wonder if they might consider a port of this and Super Mario Run to Switch as well now? Would be reletively trivial to do, could even keep them as touch-screen only if they wanted to do it with as bare-minimum effort as possible (MK Tour has already been ported via the MK8DX BCP). -

Ogre Battle 64 is a badass game. Badass story, badass characters, badass gameplay, badass music and (especially) a badass metal AF subtitle (Queen would be proud). It was a big win for Nintendo in Japan, as one of the very few major 3rd party RPG releases the system ever got (there’s a reason why Nintendo published it themselves; despite it being an Enix/Quest title). Have it on both the Wii & Wii U VC and it’s a great game! I actually quite prefer the Ogre Battle games to Tactics Ogre/Final Fantasy Tactics; the Grand Strategy approach just works. Despite you not having direct control over your units in battle, the strategic gameplay is strong, with an emphasis on wider battle strategy over ground-level tactics. It stands out as something totally unique in the genre compared to the likes of Fire Emblem and Shining Force. If I have to levy any complaint against OB64 though is that it’s kinda slow, and battles take a bit too long to complete (though still a big improvement over the original SNES game; I do find myself pining for an extra fast speed up option). This is something that the Wii U release helped to remedy somewhat with the inclusion of save states, but battles can still go on for over an hour; which makes failure really sting. Also worth noting, this game released on the largest N64 cart at the time (320 mbit/40MB), the second largest cart ever made available for the N64 (I believe Paper Mario is the only other game that uses a 40MB cart). It shows across all of its excellent presentation. Shocking that it’s not available on the Switch NSO. It needs to happen. -
Bit disappointed in the look of it TBH. Was hoping for something a bit more ernest and period appropriate. While I’m glad that a substantial portion of the museum is dedicated to recreating pre-NES attractions like Laser Clay; it’s a bit of a shame that it isn’t the genuine article being demonstrated. It’s like making a new Game & Watch Gallery, but only including Modern versions of the titles while not featuring the originals. Also the lack of Nintendo’s arcade history is disappointing too. I would’ve loved to see some of their unreleased hardware on display, or game prototypes, or original design documents for some of their most famous games; or perhaps even having working original FDS Disk Writer or SNES/GB Nintendo Power kiosks, or maybe even a working SNES Satellaview. But alas. I dunno. I was just hoping for something a bit more genuinely historical, rather than what is essentially an extension of their Super Nintendo World theme parks.

@Glen-i Square-Enix seem to have a tendency of retroactively ruining pre-existing stories whenever they decide to put out late spinoffs that act as direct story sequel/prequel games to old titles… Chrono Cross, Crisis Core, FF4: The After Years etc. Is Neo TWERY the only good direct story sequel/prequel that the Square side of S-E have ever put out? I can’t think of any other significant example, unless we count KH? (Though I don’t know if we can count the story as “good” with how much of a complete mess it is, for better or worse!)
-
Should be pretty neat. I bet we’ll see the Gulf War Gameboy reappear here Edit: Actually… come to think of it, might we also see some unreleased Nintendo hardware here too? Like Project Atlantis or the GameCube 3D display? Maybe even some beta builds of Nintendo games, like the 1997 Spaceworld demo that Tim Stamper was showing off? Lots of potential with this museum

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack: N64 & SEGA Mega Drive (& GBA!!)
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Not quite ready for a dramatic completion post just yet, but I’m now finally making some good progress through Perfect Agent. Has taken a good while, but I’m nearly there now! And hey! I do have a completion boast to boast about… because I have just beaten 7:27 on Deep Sea Perfect Agent and have unlocked the Farsight cheat… which means that I have now officially unlocked every single cheat in the game! Will have to go back to work for the next couple of days, so I wont be able to post much more progress for a few more days still, but the time is coming soon where I will officially be able to say that I have clocked the single player mode of Perfect Dark on NSO! -
Yeah, just like with the Stellar Blade devs, they’re a bunch of racist, sexist mysogynistic cunts. Everyone associated with these developers should be ashamed of themselves. None of this is surprising at all, and nobody should be supporting any developer with such abhorrent political views.
