Ace Attorney Investigations Collection (6th September 2024)
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Just finished Case 3… fucking hell! What an absolute bombshell of a case! SO damn good! This game is 100% pure dynamite so far. Might well be amongst the very best games in the entire series; absolutely trading blows with Trials & Tribulations at this point! I can’t believe that this game actually manages to live up to the 13 year long hype! It makes GAA look like utter cack in comparison! Just absolutely A-grade stuff all throughout! This game is so good that it actually retroactively makes Dual Destinies better… being this game’s direct follow up. I suddenly have a newfound respect for DD and how its own localisation skirted around how AAI 2 never came out in English originally. If things are going where I think they’re going, it suddenly explains a LOT about DD’s direction… -
Odd choice of license, but… neat!

The Great Developer Massacre of 2023-2024 (and onwards?)

https://www.gamedeveloper.com/production/remedy-enters-into-15-million-loan-agreement-with-tencent Remedy selling more and more of themselves to the Tencent devil… … I fear that they won’t be long for this world… -
Wow! That game sounds really cool! Cant help but feel that the N64 was the wrong platform for that kind of game, what with it using an expensive and low capacity cartridge format (it would’ve been a much more natural fit for the PS1 or Saturn), but the concept seems really cool! Love these kinds of text adventure games with abstract stories/ending paths

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (26th September 2024)

Agreed. It’s baffling that we have a Toy Link Amiibo but no Toy Zelda one; especially when EOW actually does have Amiibo support! -
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (26th September 2024)

From watching @Glen-i playing this game for a bit? Yeah, game looks fantastic. Looks like... an honest to goodness Zelda game! Unfortunately it runs like crap, constantly dropping to 30FPS, it's actually a lot worse than Links Awakening Switch... Sadly this'll have to be another game I wait until Switch 2 before I can really fully enjoy it. -
Looks like SNK are returning Capcom's favour, as Ken & Chun Li will be playable in COTW! At this point, just make a new Capcom Vs SNK already!
-
Good luck sneaking that Wii Remote through customs. They're gonna charge you more than your entire trip cost for that one!

Looks perfect. If only the Pokemon games could get this same kind of treatment...

That's pretty brutal for them. Ubisoft are really hurting for a hit right now, and missing the Xmas period is gonna really sting; especially since they have no other major titles in the tank that really have the potential to turn the company's fortunes around in a meaningful way within the short-medium term. If this game fails to take off in a big way and really reverse the series' sales decline? Ubisoft may well be done for...

Looking forward to tucking into this as soon as I finish AAI 2. Glad you enjoyed it @Hero-of-Time. You gonna go back and play the other two FDC games?

Am I the only one who thinks that a NES Rugrats game feels inherently weird? I mean, Rugrats only started in 1991; after the SNES had launched. So surely a SNES/MD game would be more on brand than a NES game? I mean, it’s cool and all; what with it being a real NES ROM that runs on real hardware. But I dunno, it just feels strange being on that hardware, as I associate the series with the early-late 90s (which covers the 16bit and 32bit eras).

If it’s a good 3 hours that makes for a highly replayable game? I’d much rather pay £20 for that than the same price for a 100 hour slog.
-
If this is getting a VR version, can we get S3D support for the PC version? Please? After playing OT 1 & 2 in S3D? I can’t go back!!

I think I know what this product is now. Let’s just say that the reports of its death have been greatly exaggerated! I’m just going to say that you are half right here @BowserBasher

Those are some pretty heavy required/recommended system specs for the PC version! I suspect we may have another DD2 on our hands when it comes to performance...

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered (10th December 2024)
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Very much interested in this, despite the lack of Defiance (which still baffles me). I just hope that Aspyr don't Aspyr-up everything here... -
Wow! And it seems to be using the original Working Designs localisation as well, hell hath frozen over! It actually looks like a quality port of the PS1 version, praise be! Shame that there's no option to play the original SEGA CD versions, but still; can't complain when the PS1 versions of these games are going for silly money on the second hand market!

I hope they're not going to cave into pressure from the racists hounding them over having a black samurai in their game and delay the game to whitewash the protagonist...

Ok, I meant unedited gameplay; smartarse

TMNT: Shredder's Revenge (Switch, PS4, Xbox, PC)
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
The official trailer upload got pulled (someone probably pressed the button too early by mistake), so here’s an unofficial re-upload… -
They’re pretty similar to the 3DS entries in terms of 3D model art style. True, but we do at least have touch screen support on Switch (which this game does seem to support, going by the footage we’ve seen and by the fact that Katriele also supported it). So it should still play well enough in handheld mode.

Aspyr didn’t make the TR Remastered collection, it was done by a group of fans hired by them, who previously worked on the Open Lara project… https://www.thegamer.com/tomb-raider-1-2-3-remastered-trilogy-lead-developer-modder-xproger-openlara/ Pray that this ends up being a similar situation here, because I would very much like to play modern re-releases of the LOK games that aren’t the complete disasterpieces that Aspyr are known for… My guess is that the rights aren’t as clear cut with that game as with the LOK games (that and working with 2D sprites makes any sort of remaster effort much more difficult). My bigger question here is why isn’t LOK Defiance included in this collection?

Soul Reaver Remastered!! Developed by Aspyr… … I’m so sorry Kain fans…
