I do have very high standards S.C.G so I know I can be a bitch sometimes but this new muse album is boring. It's just by the numbers Muse, like a covers band or a pastiche. To me, that's far worse than a 'poor' album that at least tries to be interesting because it doesn't evoke any kind of response from me. Really, that's what music should be about when you get down to it so yeah I am hard on mediocrity, but justifiably so.

Saw District 9 last night Solid Sci Fi actioner all round, mostly. I thought some of the politics were heavy handed and shied away from their true potential but the central performances were brilliant, the CGI was absolutely staggering and the plot was really decent. I liked the way it didn't answer many questions, too. Particularly about the nature of the alien technology.

That would be fucking tight. It'd be total murder trying to balance though. "Alight lads. Mark a Gargoyle each and lets camp this bitch!" "HOO-RAH!" It was definitely in there. One person played as JD while the other played as the henchmen in each level, popping in and out of heads as they were mown down. Was pretty ropey really but looking back it was actually really brave even trying that on an N64.

but if you can move at super speed it implies an ability to control it, too. Sadly, you don't see The Flash twatting himself in to walls regularly. I believe the current technical term for Deadpool is 'piss funny'. That bit where he 'blends in' in San Fransisco had me doubled over choking with laughter. I went in to shock. and God knows where that last line is taking the series. I can't wait.

Kind of the point if you ask me. Not that you did, but I'm not one to stand on ceremony when dealing with my opinion

I often think that Florence could do with a bit more subtlety in her vocals, actually. It;s very impressive when it works but not that nuanced. Still, she's young and clearly talented. Great night tonight. My friend Joseph came round mid afternoon and gave me a spare ticket for the Explosions In The Sky gig I thought I'd missed out on. Such a nice surprise. It was a really good set, too. They never stopped playing all night- merely moving from one song to another in a steady stream of sound. Beautiful, beautiful music by brilliant musicians.

Your Favourite Place...In The Wooooorld

Heh, and there I was picturing a totally remote/ woodland kind of lagoon from all your stories. Funny, that. Re: Houses- my humble abode is something in the region of 150 years old, so if one were to find old ass pictures of my road, little in the architecture would be noticeably different. The only major change would be the green in the middle of the road, which used to be a tennis court back when the road was built. Oh and someone's house got blown up in the war. That too. -
and there I was preferring the production. hm hm. hmm!

I'd forgotten about BFL being in the running. I really like her album, too. Hmm. I think I'm alone here thinking that her second album was an improvement though.

So - any thoughts on the Mercury Prize, forum? Florence looks to take it (which I'd be fine with. Lungs was unexpectedly great) but I'd kinda like to see Friendly Fires pick up the award too. They're refreshingly poppy and exciting at a time when rock is increasingly moribund.

I think the super speed is handled fine. The only thing I find strange is that, if you were capable of moving that fast, you'd surely never get hit because your reflexes are that high. in other news: Deadpool just hit new heights. I know I'm a week late but I've had no internets. Absolutely hilarious. Iron Man remains Marvel's best series by country miles of not inconsiderable number. Great stuff.
