Your Favourite Place...In The Wooooorld
Dan_Dare replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Chit Chat
contender: Glencoe, Scotland. The word awesome is overused to death these days but Glencoe is truly deserving of it. I've driven down it several times on holidays to Scotland over the years and it's always an amazing experience. It's the one place where I really feel the scale of nature, history and all the other forces around us. I went there last week and it's still as thrilling as the first time I saw it. -
That's rubbish.

race you. One of my favourite albums. Bit enraged: after finding out about an Explosions in the sky gig in sheff Months ago, I tried to buy tickets last week and they were sold out. fail. on a lighter note: I did get my hands on tickets for Simian Mobile Disco instead. Really looking forward to that.

If anyone cares: The Road, recently shown at Venice Film Festival, got 4 stars in The Guardian. Apparently it's absolutely superb. I was slightly worried about it, but huzzah!

shall be playing this on the 9th. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Agreed. Really good week. check it out: EPIC SPOILER GRADE map of The walking Dead It shows all the real world locations of all the major events of the series and the route taken by Team Grimes. I had no idea Kirkman et al had actually planted their protagonists in real locations.

as we ere talking about The Thing... The Guardian just did an excellent retrospective news to me but apparently it got rinsed by critics when it came out. Idiots.

Good for him. Mature game content is sorely lacking, I find. and I do mean actual mature. Not a 13 year old's version of mature. (Hi, Clifford. How's things at Epic?)

Unemployment, travelling and smoking thread. Apparently.

a fools errand if you haven't already got 100%. Insane mode switches off the item markers on your map.

It's really good. I rate it with The Terminator and Alien et al.

I actually have a press pass to the Leeds show.

They did that in Sheffield, too. Not that I went but..yeah. Went to my mate's to play some Catan tonight. Was pretty fun (if anyone plays it, one of my friend's finished with 2 points- literally the worst you can possibly do. lols) Kinda lost my mojo after though. I was initially up for a few drinks and a late chill but I really couldn't be arsed. I'm rapidly loosing interest in drinking atm and I ended up bailing pretty hard on the guys I was with. Really wasn't worth staying out though. In other news: Started a review for Shadow Complex. The site it's for is more on editorial content so I'm writing it as a look at Metroidvania as a genre too. Such good games....

100% get! Damn good game. Time for a speed run!

more than confirmed: It's the entire premise. stuff like having Motion Trackers as handheld items instead of HUD features means players have to work together to track Alien attackers and defend themselves with wielded doors and so on. It sounds much more like the feel of Aliens than AVP which, by all accounts and previous entries in the series, will probably be an entertaining but old school, linear kind of game that's scary the first time you play but rapidly turns predictable. Personally, I'd like either game to head back to the first AVP game of having random placement for the Xenomorphs. That was shit scary.

to be fair, Conquest has possibly been the best looking arc yet. Frankly, Ottley, Crabtree and FCO must be bending space/ time to produce art this good on such a tight schedule. It's phenomenal.

Ah but there's the Co-Op element to CM. To me, that makes it tenfold more interesting. AVP is going to be a solo affair and, personally, that seems limiting

That's a damn good book. One of my favourites, too. Check out A Widow For One Year. It's marvelous.

I had trouble with a few items. Some of the speed smashes, in particular, were driving me loco.

pgr has a nice take on handling: rather than being what racing a super car is actually like, it's what you think racing a super car might be like. It's like a car chase sim or something.
