The Holloways and Pigeon Detectives. I gave up on this bloody scene a few years back, i wasn't expecting some good bands to appear Also im getting back in to going out drinking, my last girlfriend pretty much destroyed that part of my life. I dumped her a couple of weeks ago because between her and work i was being run ragged! She demanded (yes, demanded) way too much of my time, and as a result i was only sleeping a few hours a night! I was beginning to do crap at work and was too tired to do stuff i wanted to do. Much happier now though! It's like a weight off my mind! Im full of energy again, work is better and i'm down the pub or in the pool hall nearly every night with my brother or my mates. I feel like i have my life back Met some new females too :p Anyway, im a bit off topic now lol. Once i started i couldn't stop!

What's the worst thing that Nintendo have ever done?
McPhee replied to welsh_gamer's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Whoring they're characters out Mario Party Ruining Starfox Being late to every single party there is; console releases, online gaming, optical disks, hard drives. The only thing they've managed to stay ahead on is controllers. -
Not really, iirc there was 3 of us, we had no ventrillo and we all drifted off after half an hour...

PROCESSOR - Intel ® Pentium® Dual-Core Processor E2140 OPERATING SYSTEM - Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit MOTHERBOARD -Asus P5K SE MEMORY -2GB DDR 2 677 MHz Memory HARD DRIVE -160 Sata 2 Hard Drive - Seagate GRAPHICS CARD - Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 OPTICAL DRIVE - 18 X DVD RW / 40 X CD Writer Drive - Sony CASE - ASUS TM-210 SOUND7.1 High-Definition Audio Digital Soundcard - Onboard SUPPORT - 5 Year Warranty - 3 Years Parts & Remaining 2 Years Free Labour £294.84 @ PCOption I'd go for that, better motherboard, better case and you can overclock that CPU to at least 2.5GHz (which is WAY more than you'd need to support a £50 GPU)

Im in, not played it in years though. Where were you for those TF2 games Ash?

You mean the 360 doesn't support monitor resolutions I use my 360 on a 19" Samsund monitor, imo it looks fine. Not as good as a HDTV running games at 720p but not as bad as playing on my 14" CRT

ATi 2600XT http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=633077 A couple of quid over, but it's significantly better than anything else around £50. If it's too much then the next best is the Nvidia 7600GT, but it's only a few quid cheaper. Oh and btw, you can get free delivery from Scan if you have an account on forums.hexus.net or avforums.com with 20 posts or more

Budget? Why not just get some multimedia speakers? They may not look quite so flash but they tend to be better value for money

Apple laptop....compatible with Microsoft Documents?
McPhee replied to kcl91's topic in General Chit Chat
So you guys think that holding such small percentages of the market makes these services irrelevant? Oh the beautiful, beautiful irony of hearing that from a Mac owner :p If Apple own roughly 2 3rds of the market and have sold 4,000,000,000 tracks then the market must be approx. 6,000,000,000 tracks in size. That means eMusic have shifted over 600,000,000 tracks, Napster and Raphsody have shifted over 240,000,000 tracks each and MSN Music over 180,000,000 tracks. Hardly insignificant... Playsforsure is dead now anyway, the DRM is still there but it's been relabled "Certified for Windows Vista" and Microsoft aren't pushing it as a standard multi-player format anymore. It's just there for anyone to use to ensure they're player can play encrypted music from online stores BTW, eMusic are DRM free. Anyone with half a brain and a decent taste in music buys from there, it's full of Jazz, Indie Rock and Punk from minor record labels. Sony BMG, Universal Music Group, EMI and Warner Music Group refuse to support the site unless it "protects their artists rights" by adding DRM. -
QFT The Dual Shock is a mess of a controller

Ignore it, some tit told me that the PS3 doesn't have Optical and as it turns out it does. Didn't check til just now cause i made that post from my mobile phone Anyhow, this is going round in circles a bit so i guess it's time to die *locked*

The whole Orange Box is only £17 on PC at Shopto.net, you may aswell get the whole thing and play it as god intended
-
Choze mate, the PS3 might be the best BD player but it aint perfect. There are reasons to buy other players Sure it loads fast and is updatable, but it lacks proper connection options (especially sound).
-
Not at that price it isn't At the moment quads are only really worth buying if they're near the price of the CPU you were gonna buy in the first place.
-
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/intel-wolfdale_12.html#sect0 4.37GHz on the 8500! 3.8 for the 8200. Probably worth the extra
-
Scan have the E8500 at £183.62, E8400 at £129.50 and the E8200 at £115.78 The Quads are £218.56 for the Q9450 and £361.07 for the Q9550 The quads seems a bit steep tbh, but that E8200 price is pretty nice. Might upgrade after a price drop.

Um, playsforsure wasn't a store. It was a certification given to stores and devices that met a certain level of compatability (and DRM-ness). Given the list of stores that use it i suspect a fair few people have playsforsure certified stuff: AOL MusicNow Directsong FYE Musicmatch Jukebox Napster Yahoo Music [3] PassAlong Real Rhapsody Ruckus Network [4] Spiralfrog MTV URGE Wal-Mart Music Downloads (the list is from Wiki, i only knew a few names) It's still not a patch on iTunes though... -
Is that you're idea of a retort? Im not talking about the mass market here. Most of them couldn't give a shit about BD, never mind how the players function. Within the current Blu Ray market though there is quite a lot of people who care. The enthusiast market on the other hand are not happy. Old players don't support new features, load really slowly and will only keep loading slower as BD-J is relied on more and more. Many of them would use a PS3, but it's a crappy option if you happen to use analogue sound equipment. Then there's the concerns over remote DRM, and disks requiring validation via the internet. There's also a high likely hood of another BD update (3.0?) that makes WiFi a requirement and further increases the minimum spec of the machines. The real battle begins now. Will Blu Ray's picture and sound quality outshine it's stupid load times (typical between 90 and 120 seconds) and DRM? Or will DVD continue to live on?
