Head Tracking for Desktop VR Displays using the WiiRemote
McPhee replied to BeerMonkey's topic in Nintendo Gaming
wow! im gonna go get me a wii remote and start trying this stuff out! -
I want GHII now, just don't wanna fork out £60+ for it Been doing great today, finally did Knights of Cydonia on medium and 5 starred quite a few songs. Come to a brick wall now though, last gig and i've got a choice of Raining Blood, which i can't do, and The One, which i get 90%+ of the way through and fail

The free song is We Three Kings, that Christmas carol about the 3 blokes who visited Jesus. It's just the guitar part, thankfully. Tis bloody awesome! Im actually quite surprised that so far they've given out 2 free tracks (other one is the Halo Theme) to 360 users. Was quite honestly not expecting anything for free!

Yeah, basically you have 2 "cores" that run at 2.2GHz each. They share the same resources (cache for example) and each core can take on a completely separate process. They can also swap info, so they can split something in half, one core takes each half, processes it and puts it back together. It's not as good as 2 x 2.2GHz because the process isn't flawless and they both share the same resources. It's far better than one though, and more economical than buying 2 processors.

the queues behind me 'kov :p

No, it doesn't. Dual Core processors aren't as good as 2 stand alone processors. I don't know the figures but performance is completely different

Someone with a good average is a pretty complete person, yes? If so then why should physical fitness and knowledge of human biology not count? P.E. is compulsory because it is good for you. You may not like it but that doesn't matter, you still need it.
-
You bought it in March? Don't send it off, return it to the shop. It's the retailer's responsibility to replace the machine within the warranty period and it'll save you a lot of time/hassle

I'd just get the Arcade now. As i posted in the Bargains board, Sainsburys sell the 20GB HDD for £50 so if you do find you need it at some point you could pick it up and still be quids in.

Wii Beats Xbox360 In UK And DS Beaking Records Sales..
McPhee replied to Dante's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I edited my post King, you guys said what i was trying to say before i finished writing my post. I was referring to the useless graphics things, but yeah the crowd thing works too :p The Assassin's Creed developers spent too much time fiddling with graphics and the new AI techniques to make the actual game play good. Mass Effect has a great, really well written story and great character models but the combat and movement is clunky (feels like it was rushed out tbh) -

Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect come to mind. Pretty average games tbh, heck Mass Effect doesn't even look that great (crappy enviroments)! The more powerful hardware does have stuff to add to games though. More scope for a start. You can increase the size of the environment and add have a lot of independent objects moving. This allows stuff like crowds and armies to be made possible. Heck, Crysis showed you can pretty much make a living, breathing jungle with the current hardware! Personally i think the hardware race should continue, stopping it holds no benefit for the consumer. Games companies will always have to find new ways to compete, as graphical advancement slows down they will be looking at other ways to make they're product stand out. -
Wii Beats Xbox360 In UK And DS Beaking Records Sales..

EDIT: Nevermind, i was beaten to it by the past few posters :p Hopefully the discussion continues and the flaming, elitism and "i'm right, you're wrong" superiority stays away, at least for a while. Please keep the forum rules in mind guys, we don't like the aforementioned. I don't think anyone wants to start handing out infractions because of another silly 360 vs Wii debate. -
Wii Beats Xbox360 In UK And DS Beaking Records Sales..

I don't think it's fanboyism tbh, there's just a strong dislike towards the sudden shift in target demographic. Like it or not the Wii is made for the exact opposite audience that the Gamecube and N64 were targeted at, this has left a lot of fans wanting and as a result a big uptake of 360 users on forums like this one. Nintendo basically shattered they're traditional fan-base in two, resulting in great threads like this one. It's blatant that the 2 groups just don't get on, neither is capable of seeing sense because the types of games on both formats are so far apart. Some like the new approach, others find it cheap. The responsibility falls to Nintendo to bring they're fan-base back in to a single unit, something which i doubt they can do this generation. There is one thing everyone agrees on though; Nintendo still make great games -
Trade in prices for the PS3 are pretty crappy, it wouldn't cost a massive amount more to keep the PS3 and get a 360 Arcade to go along-side it

3rd Parties Finding It Difficult Satisfying Casuals.
McPhee replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It all depends who actually owns a Wii, theres no point trying to flog proper games to people who bought the Wii for Wii Sports, Wii Fit and mini games. Developers will be anxious about developing games like Zak & Wiki until a few games are successful in breaking the mainstream, it's natural. If Zak & Wiki and No More Heroes are a success then more games like them will appear. If not then the Wii will be subjected to a diet of 1st party Nintendo titles and 3rd party mini-game filler (with support from EA's annual sports titles). Basically it comes down to the ability of publishers/advertisers to make you're mum want to play No More Heroes -

1. It's up to the Wii Discussion mods to decide what topics are acceptable in here. 2. All i objected to in the Jeff Gerstermann topic was the actual hate towards him, all because he didn't have the same opinion of Twilight Princess as some people on this forum. 3. If someone started firing hate comments in here i'd post a warning too. If it was directed towards a forum member i'd infract them for violation of the rules. 4. I never threatened to ban anyone. I jokingly said i'd kick his fanboy behind back to the Wii boards. If you're going to try a start a witch hunt against me then at least get you're facts straight -
Out this March? MARCH? MARCH!

Online and Offline story mode. It's pretty clunky online though Can't wait to see what co op is like in next years releases. Army of Two, Too Human, GTAIV and no doubt streams of other games will have it too

EDF single player = shit EDF with a mate whilst rather drunk = awesomeness

Duke Nukem is just an adult rated Serious Sam. It's about big weapons, big blood, big one-liners and big boobs. Theres not meant to be any innovation
-
If you don't want it i'll take it off you're hands :p I love the 360, easily one of the best consoles ever released but i truly envy the next year of PS3 games. The release list might actually be the strongest on any console ever (if the games turn out good)

pirating Wii is popular in the Netherlands
McPhee replied to Maiky-NiSuTe's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Piracy is wrong, but it isn't all bad. People who pirate games tend to play them in droves, they are basically amped up post-release testers. The pirating community is also deeply engrained in the modding community, theres plenty of games out there that sell on the strength of mods made on pirate copies of the game. Without piracy Peer2Peer technology wouldn't be as far advanced either, and loads of file hosting businesses would go out of business. Im not condoning piracy, just giving examples of the bigger picture. Oh and by the way, please not that you are involved in piracy if you have ever: Lent a game/cd/movie to a mate Borrowed a game/cd/movie from a mate Rented a retail copy of a film Made a mix-tape Copied a CD Ripped music to a digital format Made copies of music in a digital format (unless allowed by the EULA) So, if you've never been involved in piracy please raise you're hand. No? Thought not... He's had an infraction for calling someone a ****. Only way to mod a 360 is to open her up and attach a drive chip. This tells the drive that the disk you insert is genuine. To complicate matters further you can only copy 360 games by using one of 3/4 models of DVD-RW drive, the 360 picks up on the difference between drives! The machine is practically un-hackable, the 360 knows if you have a drive chip installed. You can't get any deeper in to the machine either, it's probably the most secure console ever made. Shame really, i wanted a new version of XBMC Apparently the Wii is hackable, not sure how long it'll take before people have custom software running though. It took ages for modders to get inside the first Xbox! -

Only stuff i really buy off the net are electricals. The selection on the high street is crap, and the prices are far too high! I'll never understand how Currys can get away with selling a £450 TV for £800! Games and most CDs come from work. Usually cheaper than any website!

Oh the irony, the Mayans could predict the end of the world and yet they couldn't see they're own downfall...
