They aren't as bad as most people make out, Call of Duty 3 was a pretty good first person shooter. The problem is it isn't a Call of Duty game, it's larger in scale and tries to make more use of vehicles. Treyarch removed the game's Call of Duty identity, tried to mould the series to they're own vision. Hopefully they've learnt from that mistake and are giving us a Call of Duty game this time...

There needs to be two more first-person shooters on wii
McPhee replied to stuwii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
The Wii cannot handle Call Of Duty 4. Theres too much going on in the game, too many enemies, too many friendlies, too much gunfire, too many explosions. The Wii couldn't handle it all whilst pumping out a reasonable level of graphics. Sure, you could hollow out the game to make it play on Wii but where would the point be? You'd be left with a completely different and massively inferior game! As for the main question: PC, 360 and PS3 shooters won't work well on the Wii because of the limited hardware, limited online service and control scheme considerations. Wii shooters won't work well on PC, 360 or PS3 because they will be lacking compared to other games on these systems. This leaves Wii exclusive First Person Shooters. Developers are, understandably, reluctant to develop these. There's no proven market and it's hard to get the control scheme right, a First Person Shooter on the Wii is a huge financial risk. Currently only the biggest publishers can afford the gamble, so it's down to Nintendo, Ubisoft and EA to show others how to get the controls right and to prove a market exists for Wii Shooters. P.S. Sorry if this makes little sense, im a bit tired. Off to bed now, just wanted to finish that post. -
Evil Raphael? Yup think that is Asteroth, very, very lame

Money. Activision want a Call of Duty game every year, Infinity Ward can't deliver that so the franchise is licensed out.

I started again from the start, gonna see how far i get this time before i get pissed off. So far i'm enjoying it more, made some better informed decisions (like which class to pick) so hopefully i stick at it. EDIT: Past where i got fed up last time now, will probably complete it just for the sake of being able to call it complete

Why don't they just get it over with and give us a video of this ken vs Ryu scene?
-
That is wrong, and very, very funny!

Move all you're stuff in to you're room, get everyone to do likewise. Then just don't wash his stuff, he'll soon run out of dishes to use. Or, do like-wise but shit all over his plates and stuff.

External Hard Drive and Game Installation Help!
McPhee replied to ReZourceman's topic in General Chit Chat
Games on an external HDD is never the best idea, no real benefit to it and loads of drawbacks. What OS are you using? -
Bad luck! Isn't your console under a year old though?

I've given up on the game, got killed in a fight against Benezia and it's taken me back 2 hours. So much for Autosave...

Im not very far in, but so far im very disappointed! Wish i'd bought VF5 instead now The whole game seems a bit dull, the combat is rubbish, the game looks crap, most of the environments are pretty much empty. I'll keep playing, but only to get the story. Might end up skipping the side-quests and just rush through the game instead

Sounds good to me, can't wait to see how it turns out! Grammar? Also, Ex was made by someone else. Capcom had very little to do with the game.

This is how i do it these days now, while all my mates are trying to see who will eat the hottest curry im always ordering from the wierd section of the menu. I make a point of ordering something i've never heard of before when i go out for a meal, it's the best time to try new food! I always find it difficult not to order a Malayan Chicken Birriani though, thats my favourite curry dish by far! It's got a banana on it! And pinapple! And an omlette! Not spicy, but very tasty.

Different wireless speeds, theres N, G, A and B. N is the fastest, it's brand new and expensive. G is the mainstream one, fast enough to support decent file transfers over a reasonable area. A and B hark back to a time before Wireless hit the mainstream and now have they're own specialist applications. Basically, for HD video it's N or Wired.

i need some way to buy points, then i can get the maps

SLi is, to be pretty honest, a waste of cash. You pay 2x the price of a single card, only get (at best) one and a half times the performance, boost you're power requirements by a good 200-250W and the card is still out-dated at the same time as a single card. The power supply in a Dimension 9200 should be 375W (thanks google!) and it has a single PCIe slot. As you're budget seems pretty high an 8800GT or 8800GTS (make sure it's the new one) are you're best buys, or wait and see what appears next year

Probably too slow a connection, unless it's Wired or Wireless N (yours is probably Wireless G)

It ain't too bad for £350. I worked out what it cost him and im getting around £280, £70 is pretty reasonable as a build charge but £120 is not! If he wants £400 then tell him to put an ATi HD2400 in there, it'd make it a lot better where HD movie playback is concerned. If you wanted games instead then ask him to add in an ATi x1950 Pro or NVidia 7600GT (try asking for the ATi first, it's better for games, movies and more expensive).

New and Improved N-Europe Xbox 360 Gamertag List
McPhee replied to Marshmellow's topic in Other Consoles
This thread is pretty redundant now... -
Oops, sorry m8. I was bored... Good work on the thread though! The fact i implemented it immediately is testament to how good the idea was :p

The Bible isn't fiction. It may possibly be a flowery re-telling, but it can't be disputed that a lot of the events in both testaments happened.

Mass Effect is mine! Picked it up for £23 (new) today at Sainsburys! Only just got around to putting the disk in

It's better than you're laptop (although the specs you posted can't be right surely? 48MB RAM?!?!). Pentium 4s are very crap though. Try finding an Athlon 64 or Celeron instead, or even better an Athlon X2 or Pentium Dual Core I'd do some research, after having a look myself it seems that £200 can buy some very good kit on the 2nd hand market if you know what you're looking for. Will be difficult for anyone to tell you what to look for because the 2nd hand market is so varied, theres thousands of different parts around that are half decent. Something like this would have been perfect: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=663737 I'd sign up to AVforums, PM the guy asking if he's still selling and offer him £150 (it's probably worth a bit more than that, but best to start low)

It sounds like Guild Wars in a lot of ways, only with more single player-ness. If Elder Scrolls Online works like that i'll be happy. If it's WoW in the ES universe i won't be...
