I'm not sure if you're complaining about them potentially licensing mods and selling them or not. I'm one of those people who don't really care about multiplayer. I also never install any mods for games (with the sole exception of mods that fix bugs/add content that was deleted by the original developers). So basically I'm fine with the way Notch is currently working.

I don't keep up on Minecraft mods. How do these other maps work? And if there are map mods, clearly people want maps in the game. So he's adding them. I don't see the problem.

Notch works in mysterious ways. And I think maps are a good addition? They seem pretty neat.

Games rarely score below five because game reviewers use seven as the average for some reason. So you get four 'good' scores and five to six 'bad' scores, which is way more than necessary. If five denoted an 'average' game, it's reasonable to believe that more of the scale would be used.

Well, in that case, I predict that the next Mario Kart will sell well, too. Oh, how I will brag when it inevitably does...

Yahtzee seems to hate multiplayer in general, which makes his reviews for more multiplayer-centered games a bit skewed. But I'm not big on multiplayer either, so I kind of like that. Though I do enjoy co-op a lot. I'm not sure I follow. How is having less scores to denote a good game than a bad one a good thing?

I think I just stepped through a time portal to six weeks ago. I really liked Loser Like Me. I know it's the kind of generic pop you hear every day on the radio, but I kind of like generic pop like that. Though obviously Trouty Mouth was the best original song.

I love the thought of people freaking out so much about PSN being down that they run out to trade in their PS3 for a 360 just so they can get their online fix.

Because while there's a difference in quality between a 7 and an 8 (in theory, anyway), there's no discernible difference between a 74 and a 75. Pretending that there is and that scoring out of 100 is more exact is pretty laughable.

7 is Rhythm Heaven/Paradise. 8 is The Sims 3.

I quite liked the ratings-less system Kotaku used then abandoned for several months before eventually switching back despite getting angry every time someone complained about the new review system (man, that's a mouthful), where they listen and wrote about all of the pros and cons of a game. It made for some disjointed reviews at times, but at least you could get an idea of whether or not you'd like a game within thirty seconds.

I check GJAIF too, so this discussion old news to me. Basically, seven being the average is ridiculous, but then so is the vast majority of gaming journalism. I haven't played any of those games. This tells me nothing. I quite like the idea of a score at the end of a review (hey, it works for movies). People just need to stop using seven as the average score and scoring out of a hundred (man, I hate that so much). I quite like the 10/10 scale. Some sites use the five-star system common in movie reviews, but nine times out of ten they use half stars as well, and then it just looks pretentious.

I don't know how you can dislike an article that includes this gem:

But then where does the movie come in? It was a reference to the latest episode of Community, where Abed predicted that The Cape would get six seasons and a movie (it was funny in context).

So much for six seasons and a movie. No one will get this reference.
