Well it's nearly midnight and I'm just about... a fifth of the way through my essay. It's due in... 17 hours so I can't really call it a night :P The amount of times I've just dreamed of the world being rearranged so everyone on here lived in teh same city block. That would be beyond awesome. And hey - it currently takes me about 4 weeks to download a full season of something, so if at some point I can scrape the money together to go to Holland then I will take you up on that *thumbs up* Gone With The Wind. See that's not grammar, that's the work of the Understanding Police. Working title, seeing as it's not a very self-explanatory one. 1,984 words to GO! C'mon this essay is totally going to be doubleplus good...

Ok earlier when I said "omg I know that shizzle" I basically meant "omg I have the book I can totally find out!" and now I realise "omg I don't have the book and in fact I never read it because I listened to it on audio-CD". ur qs r gey.

Yah I'd basically seen like 3 episodes ever before I watched season one and now I most definitely want to watch it ALL. I think I've seen the movie already, though. Friend's said she can get season 2 for me soon (as she gave them to her mum for a present and now she's borrowing them from her :P) but once that's done... well I have no idea what I'm going to do. Might actually have to RENT them!! Ok- psych c/w is... a pile of poo :P you can straighten that out in a good evening/night sesh of 4 hours or so. English GCSE is also surely a doddle - do you know what texts you're looking at? I might be able to help you a littlethere. Psych exam, again, not too tricky if you're willing to knuckle down for a few days. I did my revision in 3 days and aced a couple of the papers. Just learn 3 case-studies, 3 theories. The rest-- I have no idea :P ESASA! YAYEYEYE! gogogo!

well if you don't define that then Tom's answer is surely not 'wrong' :P

The last episode is awesome I dunno why I didn't like it... it was just a bit too contrived and silly for my taste. There wasn't much 'reason' in my mind for why aliens would come down as the Kindred and stay isolated and do nothing but keep each other alive, then zoom off. I just didn't... get it. The last episode absolutely rocks And cheers for the good-luck. *starts essay in about 10 minutes and plans to keep off the interweb for as long as possible*

7. Find ? (as in work out what ? is, not pointing out where ? is): me - (me-2) = ? (1 point) is it ? = 2 ?

Ah! My least favourite episode of that season :P I'm probably turning into an even bigger geek for liking x-files, but it is damn cool. JUST GOT UP and now I have 26 hours to write 2,500 words! I have an awesome essay plan and an internet service that keeps failing, which means i'll probably be taking twice as much time waiting for pages to load than I will getting citations from them. Judgement day.

Rate The Last TV Show You Saw (Spoiler Tags for Recent US Shows!)
jayseven replied to Slaggis's topic in General Chit Chat
SO it turns out I did watch the last of Veronica Mars[/i] season 3. Despite teh abrupt ending, there were several episodes -- as Ashley will testify -- where I was literally "OHMAGODD!", always a plus I wasn't a fan of the rape storyline that kicked it off, considering the season before was concentrated on a school-bus full of kids and even had an episode about rape at Hearst Uni, but the other arcs that came into focus half-way and 3/4 through the third season were mighty fine. New characters were introduced fairly well, and old characters maintained their presence (I just might be a fan of Dick. I'm hoping that isn't going to be quoted out of context...), and most of all the promise for the subsequent season was absolutely kick-ass awesome. I think overall this might be one of the stronger seasons, but it took its time to get there. I've seen a 25-minute presentation taht they made to demonstrate how season 4 would've been, and even though I did find that itself a bit poor, my own imagination of veronica with gun instead of taser -- and, actually, perhaps her following the massive lead she picked up at the end of S03 made me think goddamn stupid sonsofbitches you really shouldn't have ended the show! It just did not feel like it had peaked yet. In other news; TV series I really want to watch; Sopranos, Jericho, dead like me, Pushing Daisy, chuck, californication (sue me)... Shows I recommend; Veronica Mars, Carnivale, Deadwood, Six Feet Under, 4400. And I really really need to see season 2 of x-files now. Please.- 3920 replies

Well isn't is a socially acceptable thing for me to say "shit yo"? Maybe being as removed as I am from the situation I can imagine it as a scene from hollyoaks - but then maybe that makes it more real than it actually is for me? New point; Watched first episode of Pushing Daisy, felt very burton-esque. The whole episode felt like it was a matter-of-fact story. No real drama, just sort of watching what happens happen, if you get what I mean? Enjoyable and certainly morish in the sense that I wasn't satisfied, yet eager to find satisfaction in it. Wrong thread? But it smells like bacon!

RE: the girl/guy thing; I think there's a good chance that none of us know what is best for ourselves. We often see what would be best for others, but consistently place our own lives in the cesspool of complexity, when actually we're not that complicated. I think we're all far too obsessed with face-values, even if we don't wish to be, and that there's more than one perfect-person out there suited to us emotionally- and personality-wise, we just always want that little bit more... Personally I'm not trying to get into any relationship, especially not with this girl. For her the reason is that there is distance, and I've done it before, and it made me forget who I was. I'm looking forward to a good spooning, nothing more, nothing less. In unrelated news; discovered the next student-loan instalment as arrived! I AM OUT OF MY OVERDRAFT!!!! and looking set to be in the plus when the next lot comes in, thanks to summer job. Whoever said I couldn't come up with a 2 year plan? Pfft!

Pyxis; much respect, i think you are a decent discussor I think there still needs to be a differentiation between drug use for recreation and habitual drug use. Sure the word 'recreation' suggests people taking drugs because they want to have fun - but that does not mean that they are incapable of having fun through other means. I like to think of weed as another choice on the shelf. I don't believe in black-and-white boxes which everything exists in. I love movies, really love them, but there's nothing quite like getting fairly high and getting completely absorbed in a film or two. You can empathise with characters, or take a step back and really imagine the actor is acting. Sure you can do this sober but it comes naturally when your stoned to try and connect things, to try and understand things that little bit more. Plus your brain is able - each drug is a lock and key, locking up parts of your brain and freeing others. You can't imagine the brain as this system which gets smaller and worse when you use drugs - it alters. Recreational use of many drugs over the years have been fine - things get banned when they become a problem, and they only become a problem through addiction. I am one of those green-hippy guys who believes that education is the way to prevent addiction, not a blanket-ban where everything is tucked away and kept a secret for your own good. I'm also a firm believer in free choice upon our own lives, as long as the choices we make do not impede anyone elses liberty. But that is besides the point (that's about how the perception of drugs being 'bad' is what we've been told, not what we've experienced - isn't empiricism a massive thing in philosophy, or, like, something?), the point is that I have done drugs not because I am incapable of enjoying myself through other mediums like movies or books (BOTH, incidentally, have been the strong focus of the governing body over the centuries, BOTH of which have been called sinful and evil by several churches around the world for decades for various reasons. Why can't we go back to enjoying our little wooden toys and bicycle wheels with sticks? Why do we feel such a desire to play these computer games? again, this is a bit of a losing analogy because nothing is ever comparable to drugs. For shame.), and there is an inherant difference between books and movies; they enter your mind through different senses, and they demand different aspects of your thinking brain in order to be processed. As does playing sports or computer games. The joy of drugs, for me, is not in alienating myself or escapism (well it isn't ALWAYS, but to be honest my biggest addiction and form of escapism is watching 20 hours of dvds straight, which I think is a serious problem) but in discovering more about the world. I have seen things and thought things that you are incapable of experiencing. That doesn't mean my life is better than yours, of course. Again, I'm also a believer in the importance of the full spectrum of emotion and feeling. We feel pain, we feel love. What about fear, guilt, pleasure, hate... yeah all those too. But what if you went through your whole life never experiencing one of them. Like, say, hate. Sounds good, right? Well yeah, just got love and happiness all the time... But there's that age-old conundrum; if there was no evil, could good exist? Of course in this example, it's not as extreme as that, but I do believe that you would not be able to appreciate happiness if you didn't have the infrequent moment of torment. Living life to the full is impossible without the full range of emotions. What makes emotions so different from perceptions? Our brains perceive one way sober, another way drunk. Another way high. Isn't it interesting? Isn't it amazing how you don't need to pay £1000 to stay in another country for 4 weeks when you can get high for next-to-nothing and re-discover your own room for 4 hours? What have I learned from smoking weed? Of course, I don't just 'rediscover my room'... Because I smoked weed, I took up philosophy at a-level. You know what I found? That the year before, me and my buddy sitting up a tree in the lagoon at 1pm instead of going to art class smoking spliffs had come up -- by ourselves -- with Plato's theory of the forms! Everything I covered - creationist's argument for the beauty of the world, the perfect design theory, st aquinas, utilitarianism, even some Kant, I already had rough workings of in my head. Who says life has to be learned this way, or that? Life is NOT what people tell you it is. Life was around before them. Now, I've been talking as if, like, woah all drugs are coool, man. They're not necessarily, but I don't want to talk about drugs I haven't (and most likely do not want to) try, because I simply wouldn't know what I'd be arguing against. -
Ok, I've decided to start work on "jayseven's Paranoia Mafia" (working title ... I'll be taking my sweet time working out exactly how it will work, but hopefully it should be a little different to previous ones. So far my idea means it'll either be over in like two days, or it'll take forever... so it's going to be a long time coming. I thought I'd post here to make sure I do it eventually!

Well I worked with her for over a year and I did get to know her pretty well. At the time we were both in relationships. I still have faith in women yet. Yeah I'll be careful; it's a couple of months 'til I'm down south again so I'm not exactly going to commit myself to memory* anything. *sorry. Bad reference there.

I really enjoyed Code Veronica. It's the only one so far that I've bothered to play a fair bit again. I don't think it's as confusing as the other games? I don't know. I think I'll play 2 then 3. Halving a game might get more out of the story but I'll just end up forgetting what guns I've got and where I'm supposed to go! I think RE4's been the easiest game so far, partly for controls but also because the maps aren't so condensed.
