Damn right! two weeks ago I hadn't even played a Dragon Quest game and now... nearly 40 hours into DQ IX and I'm still loving it, plus I went and tracked down a copy of Dragon Quest IV which I'm planning on playing soon.

That's genuinely awesome.

It's a job... so no. If I genuinely enjoyed it then I'd do it for free... but then it wouldn't be a job as I wouldn't be getting paid. I'd say I tolerate work at best and any brief moments of unintentional satisfaction or enjoyment gained while working is a bonus.

Ah I remember that album well... not because I'm very familiar with it but namely as I have two copies of it and one is being used as a rather nice coaster, hence I'm reminded of the album frequently... Best coaster ever? 'you bet your life it is'

It is but only thirty items at a time can be added to the queue and even then you still have to select which items are to be added and wait for them to download on the console before you can add any more, hence why I just decided to do it all on the console through the download history as although it takes a while I still think it would have taken longer to attempt to sort it all out via the website.

But that's not the problem... I transferred everything using the kit, so I had the actual content on my new Xbox but the licenses needed transferring and after that you need to click 'download again' on all your arcade games etc so that they will then work on your new machine. I wasn't actually downloading everything again because if I was then I would still be in the process of it now, it wasn't quite as bad as that, just bad enough that I had to go through everything and click 'download again' each time just to confirm it on the new console so it'd work. :/

? PS3 is region free afaik... if you buy a game in Canada then it should work on your Pal PS3, the only things that are region locked on it are most Blu-Rays and PS2/PS1 games. Unless you're talking about games that are US only or something in which case Idk... they'd still work though I would have thought but Idk about patches etc though shouldn't think it'd matter, I could be wrong of course in which case I'm sure somebody more knowledgeable than myself will correct me. :p

^ This is why I picked it up for about £26 on eBay while I could as it was literally one of less than a handful of copies on there, will probably play it at some point soon after I've played a bit more of DQIX.

Ok so since transferring all my stuff to the new Xbox all of my arcade games have reverted to 'Trial Version' when I disconnect from Xbox live... this means I need to transfer content licences don't I? :/ *sigh*

Well you're more qualified than me seeing as you've played them both, I was just giving an opinion based purely on what I'd heard about both games, basically that they are good in their own ways but basically it just comes down to preference.
-
Splinter Cell if you want the 'safe' option... Alan Wake if you want to play something surprisingly different which you may or may not enjoy seeing as opinion is so divided on it... Both are essentially good games though from what I hear.

^ I'm familiar with both of the above pieces due to my Dad being interested in both Edith Piaf and Scott Joplin... In fact Maple Leaf Rag is the one piece that he plays on the piano regularly and can pretty much play most of it very well as he's spent a long time practicing it, I respect him for that because it takes a lot of dedication to play a piece like that; I also have respect for Scott Joplin because damn... he was an exceptional pianist of his time and the Maple Leaf Rag is a piece that's very hard to dislike because it's so upbeat and enjoyable.
