  1. This game is brilliant, it's all starting to really open up now, I like the fact that you don't necessarilly have to do everything in order as I seem to have two main parts of the story on the go atm due to me being told to go to 'Place A' but instead wandering around exploring and finding 'Place B' where I discovered lots of interesting going-ons. So I'm just playing the part of the story that interests me the most atm, not that any of it's boring - far from it - I'm just enjoying the relative feeling of freedom.
  2. Is it really true that the old transfer kit won't work as a means of transfering data from Elite to Slim? Some guy in game told me that the 'new' transfer kits that they will coincidentally be selling on the same day as the console for £14.99 are the only ones that will do the job, which sounds like BS to me... can anyone confirm/deny this?
  3. S.C.G wishes Brian Mcoy a Happy Bithday!
  4. The battle system works well with the game so IGN are criticising for no good reason there, so what if it's not as complicated as some recent RPG's, it really doesn't matter, the battle system as I understand it is a staple of the series so why change it drastically? Characterisation feels like its taken a step forwards to me, so often you have to find your party along the way but this has been done to death and the more times its done the more you seem to get typical, less original characters that don't really add much to the game - I'm not saying this is true in all cases - so having the ability to either create or have three 'random' characters join you is great Imo as it leaves you to get on with the rest of the game, some people may not like this aspect but I love it. This... I'd rather they keep extra space for moar content rather than needlessly add loads of voicework; they seem to be focusing on the more important elements of an RPG for this installment and I must say it's damn refreshing as it feels like a classic RPG but with all of the best advancements in recent years that help to enhance the actual way the game plays rather than just dress it up.
  5. Happy Birthday Slaggis!
  6. Then put away your prejudice at least this once please... I've recently started playing Dragon Quest IX and although I didn't pay for it - review copy - I'm glad that I was given the chance to review it because it's easily one of the best RPG's I've played. Starts off a little slow but within two hours the game really starts to come into its own. So anyway, I'd recommend it, it's out on 23/07/10 - or you could import - and if you decide to buy it, I think you'd be pleasantly surprised, I certainly was. : peace:
  7. That's definitely the overall vibe I've been getting from this game so it's good to know that it's sticking to the series roots. It's good that it never relies on its graphics to be good but at the same time it never lets itself down in that department either, providing visuals with a really nice solid feel to them which along with the excellent music brings a great feeling of depth and believability to the world. Never before have I got such a great sense of being 'part' of this wonderful world thats been created here, now that's not to say that I've never been absorbed by an RPG before just never before quite like this and it's refreshing. A good few hours in now and I feel like I'm starting to 'get' what the series is about and it's a great feeling.
  8. Aphex Twin because it grates less... I'm not saying either song is bad, they're decent enough but I just can't seem to warm to Eisley.
  9. Probably not... I'm not even gonna click the spoiler box because I 'know' I'm probably not where you are, I'm more of a 'grind now - unwind later' kind of player as the first thing I did when I got to the world map was get a good few levels and explore the rest of the map before going where I was supposed to so... I'll probably be where you are soon once I'm satisfied with what level I'm at. And by grinding early in the game I don't mean over-levelling but just enough so that I'm 'comfortable' with some of the intricacies involved with using the battle system.
  10. This game is pretty damn decent so far, it starts off slow but after the first hour or so everything just starts to flow really well; it's nicely paced and relatively easy to get into just like an RPG should be.
  11. Precisely... the story part it looks like they've got 'down' so to speak but the general design of the new enemies seems uninspired and some of the settings look more industrial as opposed to the more alien feel that the series has had thus far.
  12. The point that I was trying to make is that Nintendo could just release games from those three franchises and it still makes the console worth owning. -------------------------------------------------- I'm really hoping that this turns out to be the perfect combination of Super Metroid + Prime but I still have some small doubts in my mind even now... whatever happens it's destined to be great I'm sure but lets face it we all want this game to be outstanding.
  13. I was gonna post this a day or two ago but I just couldn't bring myself to take the opportunity away from you... : peace: Plus it saves me from slightly lowering myself to post it.
  14. All the right reasons... And what more reasons do you need other than Mario, Metroid and Zelda? : peace:
  15. Ah right... in that case, I look foward to it... when I get there... if I get there... one day...
  16. Shouldn't there in theory be 243 stars then? being that there is a comet coin which usually results in you being able to get another star...
  17. Elbow... I've liked them for a couple of years now, for me this is one of their better but less obvious song choices.
  18. Happy Birthday Goafer and Nolan!
  19. Congrats Ine! keep up the amazing work.
  20. Happy belated birthday McPhee!
  21. Happy belated birthday Raining! I'm sorry I wasn't here for it, if I was then you know I'd have posted sooner, anyway I hope you had an awesome day! =^.^=
  22. Nathan! thanks for your belated birthday wishes :) and while I would be interested in reviewing Dragon Quest IX I understand if it's not available now - I did take four days to reply - if it is still available then I'd like to give it a go, who'd I be reviewing it with btw? as you mentioned there were two copies.

Please get back to me when you can and if you've already offered the game to someone else then don't worry about it, I'm just happy that I was considered to review it. :)
