You're probably wise to do so but 29 positive reviews and 8 mixed, still isn't bad going, you can definitely discount the two negative reviews by 'Game Revolution' plus 'Playstation Lifestyle' who clearly just want to bring down the meta-score. Not that it matters of course, it's clearly a good game, just a little short... I'm sure I'll be wishing I waited after I finish the game in five hours or whatever but I'll live with it.

RIP Richard Briers He was a thoroughly spiffing chap and a rather splendid actor amongst other things.

I was pretty happy to find that the Blu Ray - coded for region B supposedly - works on my region A Blu Ray player! (I have an NTSC PS3) I will be borrowing some other region B discs to see if it was a one-off or not. Great film btw I didn't get to see it at the cinema.

Good, I'd much rather have a more polished single-player adventure than something that's dragged down on a technical level by co-op introduced at the last minute as an afterthought. Instead it would be a good idea to see how this game does - probably really well - and then think about adding in co-op properly for the possible sequel, that would be the most sensible option. Either that or keep it as an all-absorbing single player series, quite honestly though I'm happy that we're getting just the one game and I consider the 3DS prequel to be a very nice bonus.

Of all the things I expected I didn't think it would be... 'Trampolinist bummed by tiger'

‘One Or More Of The Big Three Will Drop Out Of The Console Market'
S.C.G replied to Wii's topic in General Gaming Discussion
You're right, it isn't fair but then it's all subjective, of course everyone is entitled to their opinions just like you and me, ultimately I'm not too fussed as I think that nothing will really come from this 'developers' comment. I do think that it will most certainly be an interesting year though, so after March is upon us, roll on E3 2013 I say as I'm sure we're all in for a few surprises, hopefully good ones. -
Watching that 'ViDoc' was kinda cringe-worthy... especially with the music constantly playing in the background, it makes the Bungie staff sound like parodies of the rather cliche character types that reside in their games. Also the end quote... 'How can anything be bigger than Halo? I guess we'll find out...' Delightfully arrogant, it's only a series which has been around for a decade or so, not say... twenty-five years like some games. I'm sure it won't be that hard for them to better something which was fast becoming stale before they handed it over to another developer who actually managed to give it a reasonably decent lease of life despite still being rather familiar. Still, I'll watch this with vague interest as it has potential, what kind of potential remains to be seen though.

If it's not the name of the next console then perhaps it just signifies that Bungie will always be a supporter of the Xbox brand... maybe they will still be bringing some exclusives to the new console in addition to destiny which I believe is multiplatform? It could just be something as simple as that, would seem a bit pointless mind.

Oh yeah, I actually have Vanquish still to play as well, I think I'll play that and Anarchy Reigns in the run-up to release if I get time, still very much into Ni No Kuni atm which I will at least finish the main story on before this is out I expect. *sigh* too many games, not enough time... I shudder to think what March is going to be like.

So... is anyone buying this on release? I've had my pre-order down for a while, I want to get it on day 1 as it looks pretty awesome and of course I want to support Platinum Games as they very rarely ever make a bad game. But then I think, I could wait and save a bit of money, but the release date timing is actually pretty good - same day as Crisis 3 I know but I'm waiting on that - I'm sure I'll end up keeping my pre-order but I was just curious as to who else will be buying it?

‘One Or More Of The Big Three Will Drop Out Of The Console Market'
S.C.G replied to Wii's topic in General Gaming Discussion
While the industry might be in a state of relative 'turmoil' it all comes back to developing as consoles are nothing without quality software, I just thought it kind of laughable that someone who is part of a development team responsible for some genuinely mediocre games - plus possibly one or two minor hits - is concerned that one - or more - out of the 'big three' console developers will drop out of the console market. If he believes this to be the case then why doesn't 'Sidhe' develop some quality software for these 'ailing' platforms? Oh wait... they don't make decent games. ------------------------------------ In all seriousness though - I'm genuinely not concerned right now - it will take a lot more than that for Nintendo to stop making consoles, as for Sony and Microsoft... who knows? Anyway, roll on March as it's then that the Wii U will really start to sell! -
That's not too far in, but in many ways that's good keep playing the game at a pace that suits you, that's what I'm doing; still nowhere near finished at around the fifty hours or so mark as I love doing side-quests. It's easily one of the best RPG's I've played in a good while.

Aliens: Colonial Marines - Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen
S.C.G replied to gaggle64's topic in Nintendo Gaming
There's one good review from a games site that gives it 9/10... http://www.egmnow.com/articles/reviews/egm-review-aliens-colonial-marines/ ... but that's one good review out of twenty-three recorded on metacritic, something tells me it's not exactly representative. :p -

'We're on express elevator to hell, going down!' Annnd with that my pre-order is cancelled, gonna watch the films on Blu-Ray instead for my Aliens fix. -
I've been following this, I was sold upon viewing the first screenshot... Glorious Day one purchase!

You're welcome Wii and thanks for drawing attention to it, I wasn't sure if I should plug it or not being that it's a somewhat 'late' review but it's good to know that our reviews are noticed. It was only a quick one too as I'm used to writing short reviews for VC Weekly but then I suppose it's all that's needed for a downloadable title, what a game though, such a brilliant example of game development done right. : peace:

Metracritics Top Publishers and Games of 2012
S.C.G replied to Retro_Link's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I love the way that they state '18 games scored over 90...' when it's actually 16... multiformat games should not be counted more than once unless they are sufficiently different. Mass Effect 3 and Far Cry 3 are the same games regardless of format. -
You'd be right there, it can run on SIX AA's but they would only last a couple of hours, same with the rechargeable battery pack but fortunately it does run off any Sega Genesis/Megadrive adaptor which is something of a relief. :p
-
I'll let you know, it's supposed to be the best Outrun game on the Megadrive - the other two games aren't very good ports apparently - as for the Sega Nomad, ugly it may be but for a portable Megadrive it's pretty awesome. : peace:
