I know just what you mean, my PS3 decided to not turn on last night - not such a good thing - but today me and my Dad opened it up and took out the power supply which is most probably the issue, got a new one ordered which should be with me by Tuesday so will get to put it in the machine then and hopefully all will be well. Nothing more satisfying than taking something apart and managing to fix it yourself without having to send it in for repair or when that's not an option/too expensive. : peace:

I think it's more likely they'd be doing maintenance to take something away. 'We have decided that because the 'Ear of Luigi' has almost come to an end that it is time for us to take away all of the games that have been released as part of this celebration' 'Did you really think that you would get more than the year to play them?' *Iwata laughs* 'Do not be so silly!' 'Please Understand!' 'Buy Mario Kart 8 on May 30th or we will take away more games' 'Thank you for watching, goodbye!'

Bought it boxed off eBay... the console itself had actually never been used but I'm guessing normal warranty won't apply to me, besides I'm pretty certain that it's the PSU which has failed so I might as well replace it myself as I can get a new one off eBay for around £35 and I bet Sony would charge me more than that for the repair... ...plus I don't trust that I'll get my original system back or that something won't go wrong resulting in loss of data so I'll be opening it up today - which I think I need to do in order to make sure I order the right model of PSU (please correct me if I'm wrong here) - but apart from that it shouldn't be too bad. Might even be able to test the PSU once it's opened up because it could just be a component inside that needs replacing, we shall see anyway. : peace:

I have a feeling that it might be the power supply... being that it powers on but only for a second, hopefully these are simple to replace, this seems to be my only option being that I don't want to lose all my stuff. :/

Fucks sake... my PS3 slim which I bought brand new less than a year again is refusing to turn on. I was playing inFamous on it yesterday with no problems but now it's like this... Standby with red light - Press power button - lights come on as normal, makes whirring sound as if starting - 3 seconds later nothing. sometimes after this I will get different flashing lights which I believe to be an error code... white - green - green - red - red - green - green - green - green green - green - red - red - green - red - green - red And then it starts again. :/ So it would seem to me that it's a hardware failure and my options are... Replace a capacitor - if that's the problem Buy a new PS3 Am I right in thinking that if I buy another original slim PS3 that I can just take the hard drive out of the faulty one, put it in the new one and all will be well? That would mean I would be able to carry on from exactly where I was when my PS3 was working? I fear that this might be my only option, oh and I'll need to buy a new copy of inFamous as well because that's the last game I was playing on it... the disc is still in the machine. This had to happen right in the middle of my inFamous/2/festival of blood marathon as well.

Are you sure there's no free-running? I was sure that you could always do that in Tales of Symphonia except you needed to equip it as a skill or an item of some description... unless my memory is failing me. :p

*watches 5 seconds of live gameplay* No! must not.... :p *Goes back to playing inFamous* I will complete inFamous/2/Festival of Blood within two weeks!

Well I've pre-ordered the limited edition at ShopTo so I have both versions pre-ordered but if the price doesn't go down nearer the time then I'll probably cancel and just go with standard, gold member prices at the moment are... Mario Kart 8 - £37.86 Mario Kart 8 Limited Edition - £56.87 So currently that means the price of the Blue Shell is £19.01! I still sort of want it even though it's still a bit of a rip-off. :p

I'd be happy with Resi 4 HD on the Wii U especially after buying the PC version and finding out that it won't run on my not even two years old machine... I'm not the only one, loads of others are having trouble running the game but it's frustrating waiting on Capcom to patch it. :/ At least if they made a console 60fps HD version it would run from the start. :p Oh well, at least the recent PC port of Ikaruga runs like butter, that's another game I would love to see on the Wii U with the option of off-tv play because what I would do then is rotate the display, stand the pad vertically somehow and play with the pro controller, it would be cheaper than a dedicated vertical monitor at least.

Red Steel was a game that showed much promise on paper - particularly from the much publicised 'bullshots' - but then failed to perform in practice. It was at the launch of a brand new console where motion control was an original concept, who wouldn't want to wield both a gun AND a sword in an oriental themed, Yakuza inspired first person shooter/slice-em-up? Naturally I bought this at launch, played it for all of an hour... that was enough for me to tell that this title just wasn't of any real worth, it's not that it wasn't enjoyable but more that it should have been much better. The sequel may have delivered the original promise that the first game made with the advent of Wii Motion Plus but by that time it was too late, I actually ended up buying the sequel at a car boot for the princely sum of £2 a year ago but I have yet to bother playing it. A title by Ubisoft available at the launch of a new Nintendo console that failed to live up to the original hype? Who would have guessed that this would become a reoccurring theme. Verdict: Red only with embarrassment of being inferior, Steel yourself if you wish to play this title today because it surely won't have aged well.

Oh wait, I didn't know that you could play as the other characters on their own in Hard Mode... this changes everything! I will probably be going back to the game sooner than originally planned in that case, for some reason I thought you'd only be able to play as DK. :p

Game complete! It might have taken me just over a week but considering I've been collecting 'everything' in each world before moving onto the next - yes even those blasted 'K' stages :p - I'm rather pleased with myself. I can honestly say that I loved almost every moment of it and the only reason that I say 'almost' is those stages where I've gone from having 99 Red Balloons to less than 20 as those were some trying times but my god was it worth every second that I devoted to it through all the good times in addition to the frustrations. Just... such a glorious game that I feel privileged to have had the chance to play.

Awesome update for some reason I was unaware that Gerudo Valley was in this as an arena, love that place... mainly for the music. : peace:

Call Nintendo. I've heard the Gamepad is about £50 to fix though...

^ Hnnnnnnnnnggggggg! Dat Box-Art! Only up to World 5 so far but I'm still loving it.

£23.86 pre-order price on Shopto, all formats... I wasn't considering picking this up at launch but at that price? Tempting...

'Please understand, normal service will be resumed after an update scheduled for Summer 2014' :p

This happened to just about everyone who has linked their NNID but once it successfully connects to the eShop for the first time since linking it should be fine, I forget the specifics but it something to do with syncing of information I think. Someone else will be able to explain it better than me no doubt but just keep trying is all I can suggest.

Haha I saw that picture with Waluigi in it as I was taking a sip of tea... ...fortunately I then quickly read the words 'Assist Trophy' so all is well, glad that I didn't end up involuntarily spitting tea everywhere. I love the way Mario is peeking out over the edge with an expression that says 'I'm-a-gonna get you!' Luigi is looking as if he's staring down his arch-nemesis and Waluigi is just grimacing in pain at being 'reduced' to a mere assist trophy, even though he's never been (officially) playable in a Smash game and never will, just how it should be.

I happened to find this so I felt compelled to share it...

Can you imagine... *smash ball get* Luigi's Final Smash! *video appears on the screen in the background screen of the Ring stage showing Satoru Iwata in Nintendo Direct viral video form* "This... is... the..." *drum beat kicks in as 8-bit Mario Bros music plays* "Ear of Luigi... ear of-ear of Luigi... Ear of Luigi... ear of-ear of Luigi... do you know that Luigi is thirty years old?" Luigi - "Waaaaaaaaaaah!" *Luigi then proceeds to throw unsold boxed copies of New Super Luigi U at his opponents*

Pro Controller all the way of course... ------------------------------------ I'm literally only just over halfway through World 3... I definitely seem to be pacing myself - not necessarily intentionally - but typically I've been playing a bit each day, usually in the evenings - day off today though - which usually culminates in me clearing a whole world after a couple of hours of play; this does involve getting everything though. Yes stage 2-K is particularly brutal, took me at least an hour or so to get it right but it was fun too in a way, how is everyone progressing with the extras? In particular...

R.I.P Harold Ramis Who are we gonna call now? :/

Just as well you have a PS3 to fill the gap then I've got a tonne of RPG's to play on mine so I reckon I'll barely notice the drought, but that's after I've finished with DKC:TF which won't be for a good few days yet, I'm only now up to world 3 but will be playing it later tonight for sure.

#07 - N-Europe: Let's Talk Games (Metroid: Other M)
S.C.G replied to Fused King's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Where to start? Metroid: Other M Firstly it must at least be mentioned that I did enjoy the game, quite a lot at times as it had rather a lot going for it and I can definitely appreciate the angle that Team Ninja + Nintendo were going for... it's a good game that suffers from poor execution. While I completely understand only having the Wii remote as the control option it still bothers me to this day, yes it was rather clever in the way that you could change perspectives at almost any given moment depending on the orientation of the controller but this also ended up damaging the game as a whole. Having to use the d-pad for 3D exploration was awful at times yet if you wanted to experience the game in its entirety you had to just lump it or pretend to like it genuinely I feel that it would have at least been an improvement to allow an alternative control scheme incorporating the nunchuk with a button remapped which would change your perspective instead. The story actually had some decent parts, for instance the whole mission briefing scenes where Samus would give a 'thumbs down' was brilliant, plus the final scene from Super Metroid being redone in a flashback was spectacular and of course who could forget 'that final boss' along with that amazing Ridley confrontation which almost made up for all of the negative points in the game, for all of its flaws lack of fan-service isn't one of them. But there are a fair few flaws including the much mentioned 'search for this' sections which really dragged the game down, combat which was literally hit & miss plus some of the god awful dialogue, make Samus speak fine but don't have her needlessly repeat the word 'baby' multiple times over, I would have preferred if she'd just said 'infant Metroid' each time instead or if they'd cut out most of the redundant dialogue; yes there were a few memorable scenes but I feel like they get lost quite easily in the chaos. Oh and Samus asking for 'permission' to use her Varia suit? I did still genuinely enjoy it though despite what might seem like a rather long list of complaints, the setting was brilliant with the whole 'Bottle Ship' making it possible to have many varied locations, the back-story at least added as much as it detracted so overall everything balances out and the series is not really that worse or better off for having attempted to take the series in a new direction. Ultimately in a lot of ways with this game there were many elements which made this feel like a more 'traditional' Metroid at times even if those moments are fleeting, scattered somewhat sporadically throughout the experience. : peace: Verdict: Metroid: Other M is certainly worth playing, if only to satisfy your curiosity. 8/10
