I'm just grateful we're getting new content for existing Nintendo games at all. Mario Kart's 16 new tracks, 6 characters and various vehicles sold in two packs for a combined price of around £11 is exemplary. : peace: As for Super Smash Bros... the best is yet to come surely?
-
So... it's another solid 4-star Avengers film then? I enjoyed the first, presumably I'll like this so I'll get it in a few months on disc.
-
New track pack DLC is amazing in almost every respect. Though no 200CC Option for me... do I need to download it separately or load up the game for a third time? Will sort it out later, got to go to work now but the tracks are pretty amazing and I can't wait to hopefully try them out in 200CC later assuming it appears.

As promised... VC Weekly #335 : peace:

As nice as the exclusive Nintendo platform additions are, I too would still love to see an equivalent added boss battle for these versions and Mega Man would certainly fit the bill given his past and current affinity with Nintendo platforms. But yeah... I certainly wouldn't demand it, would just be nice is all, plus it would be such a big announcement that they could put it in a Nintendo direct.
-
Add Lucina and Robin and that makes a complete set, hopefully they are all being dispatched at the same time. Hmm I would check with Nintendo if you haven't had the other confirmation e-mails by tomorrow morning Serebii, that is a bit concerning.

Now see this is interesting, because though I did use restore points for Super Mario 64 I have played it through many times before, so there's the two different runs for that one, even if there's a significant period of time between them... Super Mario 64 is a game I won't forget. With Mega Man however I would try not to use restore points... unless I feel the game is being cheap, the same can be said for other titles too as I said before the knock-back in Super Castlevania IV is criminal at times! So I still like a challenge, therefore I won't use it all the time but if it's a game I've played before and I'm wanting to just explore different possibilities within the game for review purposes or just my own amusement then I think that's fine, also it can be handy if you were trying to get a certain screen-shot for miiverse which I do use for some of my reviews so there's that use for it as well. : peace:
-
So long as you've already beaten the game before though, what's the harm? If I'm replaying a game to review it, I already know the game inside-out so it's just to remind myself of how the game plays, I don't feel like using restore points is robbing me of anything; if anything sometimes not using them is merely robbing me of my sanity and patience as some of those stars in Super Mario 64 are frustrating enough. I tell you what... seeing as I haven't played DK64 properly yet from start to finish, when I play that I'll endeavour not to use Restore Points. Deal? : peace:
-
Perhaps they decided to make a start in processing them late in the day today and the rest will follow suit first-thing tomorrow. Edit - Pac-Man has joined the fight! (for remaining space in the postman's bag/back of delivery vehicle) Am I psychic? Ness has 'thought' his way into the package.
-
Perhaps they are doing them per figure, Wario & Charizard first for processing followed by Robin & Lucina then finally Ness & Pac-Man. They should all still be posted together though... I would have thought.
-
Hmm... Charizard and Wario have left the Nintendo warehouse. No further e-mails for the rest of them, yet.
-
OK... I'm fine with Restore Points dividing opinion. Could I have completed Super Mario 64 again without using them? Of course I could, I've finished it legitimately countless times and I still count my last run as being legitimate too. Another example, 100 coins on Rainbow Road, I'm pretty certain you need the blue coin switch in order to get that total, you hit the switch and from that time you have around what feels like seven seconds to perform a wall jump at least four times and run along the platform at the top while fighting against the games camera, if I couldn't retry that part from before hitting the switch then I likely would have just left it. Being that I'm playing a lot of Virtual Console games, mostly to review as well, this saves me some time... so when it's a game I've played before especially and already completed I really don't see the harm, there are still plenty of games I'll be playing which don't have restore points which I have no problems in finishing, so it's not really diminishing my skill level; only my frustration level at annoying parts in games... and only by a small degree. : peace:
-
There's no shame in using restore points. If anything it makes certain games more interesting, Super Mario 64 in particular, because sometimes you'll go for a particular star and then think 'I don't want to lose this star, but what if I could get the one hundred coin star and THEN get the star I've just discovered?' or when trying to get the trajectory right on the cannons, I'm not going to fire Mario miles above the star only to have to go all the way back to the cannon on foot wasting precious time when I can just reload a restore point then correct the angle slightly. It just makes sense to use them sometimes, especially when it's a game I've fully completed before many times over. : peace: I'll use it in some games which I'm playing for the first time which I feel are either unbalanced or unfair as well, for instance what about that really harsh knock-back in Super Castlevania IV... I quite possibly would have given up on the game in some of the cheaper sections of the game which don't seem to shy away from knocking you down an instant-kill hole every few seconds. Admit it, restore points can sometimes be a useful thing, surely?

I have to admit that while the controls are completely fine for when the game was first introduced, for some reason they only partially translate to the analogue sticks of today, perhaps it's because the newer control sticks are more sensitive. Moving forward is fine, either very slowly or at speed yet when you wish to run forward then pull the stick back suddenly backward to attempt a side-jump or flip I found myself trying this several times. All of Mario's moves I could perform with ease on the original N64 control pad, after playing Super Mario 64 for a week on the Wii U VC I certainly adapted and so would end up performing most of the moves on command but there was definitely some relearning involved due to technical differences in the controllers I would have thought plus... it had been a while. The controls have certainly seen better days, yet they are still functional with a little bit of practice, as for collision detection, there were definitely a few instances of jumping into 'invisible walls' which shouldn't have been there - as opposed to the ones that should be there like the Peach portrait changing into Bowser before you fall into the trap - in addition to some instances of Mario sticking to the wall which he is supposed to do but it takes a bit more effort to tear him away from those flat surfaces, almost like how a plush character would stick to Velcro. :p Still a classic game, but it's not one without small issues which don't stop it from being enjoyable yet they will cause a few 'Mama Mia!' moments, even so though... that's what the restore points are for. : peace:
-
I hope so... I'm really into collecting game soundtracks at the moment so this would be ideal, the larger question is, will we get the Mario Kart 8 soundtrack and the Nintendo sound selection which they seemed to get in Japan too, the one with themes from various Nintendo games, I'd love to get both if they do as I still have possibly enough stars left unredeemed from a few 3DS/Wii U games.

If you do end up keeping it for a month - or however long you decide to wait - and then want to sell it, I wouldn't mind buying it off you depending on the price as I'm interested in buying Bloodborne, just not for the price it's currently at from retailers. The cheapest it's selling for on eBay at the moment is £28 - £30 or so, I'd gladly pay around £25 for it in a few weeks if you'd be happy with that? Equally if you want to sell it elsewhere or trade it in then go for it, but the offer is there. : peace:
-
I wonder if ShopTo will be sending the whole wave in one box, or... lots of boxes, I hope it's the former because if it's the latter then, well I don't wish to annoy the postman too much. If they are all being sent by van though then that's cool. : peace:

Here's a still very much relevant review of the game. Just take out the Nintendo exclusive parts and take into account the Playstation additions and possible improvements. N-Europe Review Oh and lest we forget the Xbox version as well, though I gather that will be out a little later. Whichever platform you choose to enjoy this brilliant game on, may your justice be swift! For Shovelry! : peace:

I'm sorry to hear that @Mr\-Paul I know how it feels to lose a cat to the road, it's bad enough when they pass normally but when it's through an act of brutality - even if it was an accident - it just seems to be that much worse. My condolences to you and your family.

I appreciate the effort which has clearly gone into the production of this film even if it is different to how the other Jurassic Park films were made, the older films seemed to favour using animated physical models for parts of the dinosaurs I thought whereas isn't this mostly CGI if not all of it? It still looks good but it has a decidedly different tone to earlier films which I'd always gone to the cinema to see with my family, this time though... well the trailer showed rather a lot so I may just end up waiting, buying the earlier films on Blu-Ray, watching them again in anticipation until this comes out a few months down the line annnd... ...end up being bitterly disappointed. But seriously... I think this has a chance to be a decent 4 star film at best, worst case scenario it will surely be at least viewable? I just know I'm going to end up buying it anyway. : peace: but only for £5 or less on Blu-Ray if it turns out to be anything less than decent.

Wii U VC Releases for 23/04/15 Mario Kart Super Circuit (Nintendo, €6.99 / £6.29) Previously an ambassador title on the 3DS, now it becomes a fully fledged VC title with all the digital trimmings! It's also one of the most charming entries of Mario Kart that I've personally ever had the pleasure of playing, lest we forget it has provided us with some amazing tracks which have now been elevated to even higher status thanks to the upcoming Mario Kart 8 dlc; it may look a little frayed around the edges now but why not see where Ribbon Road really begins before enjoying the new lavishly embellished version which is sure to become a future classic. Street Gangs (Nintendo, €4.99 / £3.49) Also available on the 3DS around just under two years ago, this title which is perhaps better known by its original name of River City Ransom, is a classic NES scrolling beat 'em up within the Kunio-Kun series which incorporates RPG lite elements in order to further diversify its appeal. Certainly an entertaining game even by today's standards it hasn't really aged a great deal with its striking visual charm shining through to this very day; it's also fantastic to play especially in two-player mode. Look out for reviews of these titles which will be available in VCW #339 in the near future. Meanwhile please look forward to VCW #335 which will contain a review of Metroid: Zero Mission and will be available soon.

That must mean that they've got even more stock somehow then? I'm glad that I pre-ordered while they were £14 but it does seem mean-spirited to raise the price now.
-
I believe so yes, but you get the option to split the delivery so that each game will get delivered separately on their release dates plus think of the long-term saving. This is the first time I've trusted Tesco with as many pre-orders as this simultaneously but I'm confident that they will deliver. : peace:
-
Annnnd I'm done! Just in time by the looks of things... 3400 stars all from digital surveys. :awesome:
-
I did really well out of that Tesco deal. Batman Arkham Knight Exclusive Steelbook Edition - £58.00 The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - £45.00 Dual Shock 4 in Blue - £50.00 Xbox One Controller with Play & Charge Kit - £52.00 £205.00 - £23.00 (two for £80 pre-order deal) - £20.00 (£20 of when you spend £150) - £16.50 (staff discount) = £145.50 Pretty happy with that, two awesome games pre-ordered plus second controllers for my Xbox One / PS4 so my brother and I can play local multiplayer. Oh and seeing as I now have the controllers, I had to buy Mortal Kombat X as well which was £43.42 for the game, T-shirt and some thumb sticks - bought at the same time - for the second control pad. :awesome:
