N-Europe Review : peace: -
Toad amiibo in stock on ShopTo, ordered and paid for. :awesome:

I'll put this here as well... On the Paypal website there seems to be a limited offer which lets you get £50 of Playstation Network credit for £40... it's quite a lot in one go but if you're going to be using it this seems like a good deal. : peace:

Is Nintendo-Only gaming Damaging Your Hobby
S.C.G replied to Falcon_BlizZACK's topic in Nintendo Gaming
As an attempt to throw some balanced discussion into the mix, I started off 'properly' playing games on a Sega Megadrive which was the main console I owned until getting a GameBoy a few years later, I would still play SNES games over at my friends house at the time though, indeed a few years down the line I tried out the N64 and it wasn't until then that I decided that was the console I wanted so it transpired that one Christmas my grandparents very kindly purchased an N64 for our household when it was the more reasonable price of £99.98 with Goldeneye... I had the choice of either that or a Playstation at the time as well, needless to say at the time it was definitely the right choice. But that doesn't mean that I ignored the Playstation, at that time a lot of my friends had one so I still got to experience some of the classics but while I owned an N64 I was then going back to buy past Nintendo machines including the NES/SNES while looking forward I've always picked the machine that most made sense to me. For me the Dreamcast I only got into when it was £50 with four games new... which then prompted me to buy a Saturn - fortunately it seemed to be a good time to build up a Saturn collection - before starting to save for a Nintendo Gamecube, then the Wii... with the original Xbox being added to my collection followed by a NTSC PS3 so I could then play all the PS1/2/3 games I had missed, then the Xbox 360 which almost brings me up to today. I now own machines from all three companies Wii U/PS4/Xbox One with the New 3DS and original PSVita on the side, I've honestly never been happier as a gamer, while in a lot of cases I actually prefer to play retro games it's just really nice to be able to have that choice available; I consider myself fortunate enough to be able to afford these machines even though I don't do much outside of gaming which is my hobby hence the reason I can buy them in the first place, though these days even having all of the necessary hardware doesn't mean that I'm going to rush out and buy every game available - that would be a tall order for anyone - instead I've become more cautious with which games to buy if anything, which is a good thing based on how prices can plummet with certain titles no longer retaining much in the way of monetary value, so rather than have lots of them sitting on the shelf that I may not end up playing for a while I now choose to wait for price drops on certain games, this is why I tend to gravitate to retro quite a lot as I miss the days of saving up for that one cartridge based game and getting all that I could out of it. From my perspective I've become a rather balanced gamer over time, I don't think of myself as any better or worse than anyone who chooses to just own consoles from one company or all of them; I just enjoy playing games... it's as simple as that. : peace: -
I would have said if any mini-game from Nintendoland would be making it across to the mobile platform then it would almost certainly be an adapted version of Takamaru's Ninja Castle where instead of pointing the gamepad at a screen, it'll all be happening on the one smaller screen though obviously with a less precise aiming mechanism which should be fine seeing as the field of play would be significantly narrower.

Thanks again to Hero and Lost for the hunts tonight helping me get up to HR6 as I couldn't have done it without you both. It turns out that when Gravios uses Fire Blast against a HR5 hunter with minimally upgraded armour that it's super effective! Aside from being temporarily turned into a pile of burnt meat on that quest, I'd say it went pretty well. : peace: I'll get back to powering through single player for a bit now. -
You said it! This is why I hate using tablets for posting things online, they are so imprecise. At least on something like the 3DS or Wii U it gives you half a chance because of the stylus. Anyway, on topic... I find that I'm only really using my Wii U daily because of Wii Fit U - mainly to check my weight - and to get daily bonuses with my Amiibo figures on Hyrule Warriors plus the odd VC game, I really must get back into using it to play games more often but the 3DS is taking up most of my time currently. Anyone else still playing games on their Wii U regularly?

Fifty hours plus, easily. -
Just in case anyone still wanted one of those Majora's Mask New 3DS XL bundles due for dispatch in March, a heads up as I just put in a request for a cancellation on an order I had for one which would have been surplus to requirements, I almost forgot I had pre-ordered it in all of the madness at the time so it might be worth keeping an eye on the page if you were after one, assuming they let me cancel it. : peace: As for the game, I really must get back to it soon, this is what happens when you release two high profile games on the same day Nintendo, one usually gets unfortunately side-lined. Here's the page link... http://store.nintendo.co.uk/new-nintendo-3ds-xl-console/new-nintendo-3ds-xl-majoras-mask-3d-edition/11075490.html I honestly thought they would have got this second batch out of the gate already, we're halfway through March... maybe they meant Q4 of March. :p

Cheers for the help on those hunts tonight @Hero\-of\-Time and @lostmario it feels good to finally get up to HR5, I'll try and be on more during the start of the week when I can, I've still been playing the single player each day so as to try and not fall too far behind. I'll reach the higher ranks yet I'm sure. : peace: -
It's the Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor that Playtonic Games are currently working on.
-
Speaking of platformers, is anyone going to chip in with the Kickstarter for Project Ukulele when it launches? I know we have a thread elsewhere for it but I feel that it would be the perfect fit for the Wii U for obvious reasons but I am really surprised that Nintendo hasn't stepped in to offer financial backing themselves, it would be such a good move to get a developer with that amount of potential talent on-board. : peace:

This is the only upcoming pre-order I have for a PS4 game coming out this month, it still really hinges on reviews as well so here's hoping it's at least comparable to MH4U on some level.
-
So who's definitely buying this on Day 1 and who's waiting on reviews and/or a price drop? I'm considering it but I never finished Dark Souls so I'm basically waiting on confirmation that this isn't just the same as those games even if they are highly regarded, something about them obviously didn't click with me. Bloodborne looks awesome but it has left me questioning if I'll actually play it to completion or not, if it's a short game I might as well wait no matter how good it is.

Downloaded this yesterday, along with Risky's Revenge on Steam. : peace:

Then... Super Mario 64/Sunshine/Galaxy HD. One or the other.
-
I don't have an issue with the maps in New Super Mario Bros. U or Super Mario 3D World but I am definitely ready for a new 3D Mario game in the vein of Super Mario 64 as the time is arguably right for it, I'm not saying release it this year just... Show us a glimpse at E3, give us something Nintendo. : peace:
-
I've just bought them ALL because you just know that these 3D Sega classics won't be on sale again, or at least not for Ages... Also I must say that Ecco is worth full price, as is every game in the range, aside from Altered Beast maybe... but I didn't mind paying £2 for it, I bought Fantasy Zone for full price which is fair seeing as it only recently came out. 3D Outrun is so good! It's... it's beautiful! ;_;

R.I.P. Terry Pratchett. I always liked the idea of owning the Discworld games on the Sega Saturn, I was always curious to know if they were in any way comparable to the books or at the very least complementary. Anyway, this is a sad day indeed.
-
Only two days before the game comes out though, shame it isn't a week. Still at least it's getting a demo, but two days before? Pre-orders will likely be processed by then with the game to arrive the following day.

Wii U, 3DS, PC versions first. A few months later, Xbox One/360 and PS4/3 versions announced with exclusive characters, Wii U version gets Plague Knight dlc at the same time but then so do the other platforms, though I'm sure there was some promised Wii U exclusive multiplayer mode? Though I'm willing to bet that will extend to the new versions as well now.
-
So in other words, expanded Wii U version in a few months with some exclusive dlc featuring Ellie the Elephant from DKC with a free update for existing versions at the same time featuring other platform exclusive characters. It will be almost the opposite of how Shovel Knight played out. Either way I'm looking forward to it, on any platform. : peace:
