The right winner won. I'm happy that The Netherlands came second, they were my overall favourite act. Can't believe the UK didn't get more points. Best song we've had for years, but the competition was tougher this year. Is it just me, or was the quality pretty decent this time around? France, though. I didn't think that they would finish last.

The fridgeselfie would work best if it were the selfie of the fridge. You know, the fridge could take selfies in all sorts of nice locations, like on top of a mountain, at a concert, etc.

E3 2014 - All your wildest hopes and dreams

Goddamit, brah. Don't make me change my mind again.

Inspired by both Blade and Kav's posts in one of the E3 threads: Do you think Nintendo can still produce good hardware? Would it really be best for consumers if Nintendo went third party? Would it benefit Nintendo? My confidence in Nintendo has been knocked. Whilst it was a difficult situation at the time for the Wii to be behind the competition, a lot of us accepted it. There was enough of a difference with the Wiimote to compensate for the lack of power. This time around, I'm not convinced. I would have liked the Wii U to be much closer to the competition. Even then, what kind of console would it be? To me, Nintendo seem much too focused on the controller of their machines. Again, it was acceptable with the Wiimote, but they seem to have crossed the line, in my opinion. Why does it feel like that every Nintendo machine from the DS onwards needs to have a gimmick? Do Nintendo have it in them to just make a straight-forward gaming machine, with the software making the difference?

I don't think the crossbow training comparison is that harsh. Maybe a small step above it, but it's certainly not in the same bracket as X and Smash Bros. Those are top, top level games. This is at least a level below that. At least. It's not a terrible thing, not every game is going to be top tier. You need all sorts to make it work, to build up a library. For every Xenoblade, you need a Trauma Centre, for example. (although Trauma Centre is a greeeeat game. Not sure if that's the best example I could use, maybe)

IGN Game Scoop! Ep302 "Why does Iwata still have a job?"

Not sure if srs. I don't even know where to begin with that one. Ha. -
IGN Game Scoop! Ep302 "Why does Iwata still have a job?"
Fierce_LiNk replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I read/skim read through the majority of this and thought it was brilliant. Right from the start with the quotes related to the droughts. It's very damning. Iwata needs replacing with somebody who is more relevant, more ruthless and more exciting. -
That's a huge stretch putting Hyrule Warriors in the same bracket as Smash and X. It didn't seem high quality at all, rather a glorified side-game. The next Link's Crossbow Training, possibly.

Sound advice, brah. What are the rumours flying around for Sony at E3? Anything plausible or are there just as many bullshit rumours as associated with Nintendo before E3?
-
Yeah, brah. I'm worried that I'll get dicked over with a borked PS3 if I get one second hand. Tempted to get a bundle or something, but a 100 quid or so more will net me a PS4, so I'm not sure it's worth it in the long run for me. Think I'll just bide my time and get the PS4. Mass Effect Trilogy on PS4 would make me hnnnnnggggg.

Come on, Nando. :p My assessments and reports are due to be finished in a month's time. I should have a bit more free time after that to get into this game. I'm hoping that there's enough there to keep me coming back.

I watched both of the qualifiers. The second one seemed to be higher in *ahem* quality than the first. Dat Poland entry. Hnnnngggggggggggg. Finland's entry was pretty good, imo.

Not sure how this sounds, but I didn't even expect Nintendo to include this within the game. It's incredibly naive of them and it's a "typical Nintendo mistake". Life must be very serene in that little bubble of theirs.

I'll be watching the Sony conference this year as I'm not holding out much hope for Nintendo coming up with the goods. Quick question: Game are selling pre-owned 320gb Playstation 3 consoles. I don't fancy buying a new one at 160-180 or so when I can just keep saving a bit moar and can pick up a PS4 later this year. How..."dangerous" is it going for a pre-owned console these days? Is it likely to be borked? Now that I know that the likes of The Last of Us and Tomb Raider are on PS4, that's two major reasons for me to get a PS4. Is it true that FlOw and Flower are on there too as I really want to play these two.

Pre-ordered this today. Impress me, Nintendo.

One word: Minecraft. Along with whatever smartphone game is "in" at the time. But, by some distance, Minecraft. The likes of FIFA will always be in because that's the go-to game to get your football fix. Kids don't generally give a shit about gameplay mechanics and upgrades from the previous season. They want to play as Ronaldo, Messi and Rooney, etc. There doesn't seem to be that much of a buzz for the XBone, but the PS4 seems to be the "future" purchase for many. At least, from what I've seen. It'll most likely be the Christmas present for some when that comes around and/or it's a bit cheaper. Wii U is non-existent.

Sorry that you're having a bad time, Raineeng.

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion
Fierce_LiNk replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Oh yes, that I am. :p In fairness, I trusted Nintendo after the Wii and expected the games to come, third parties to be on board, the online to be top notch. I'm an exception, the majority of people out there aren't hardcore Nintendo fans. -

Do you mean that one solitary FIFA game that will be appearing on Wii U? Your comparisons don't work. Yes, I understand what you mean when you say that the difference between a Wii and Wii U is greater than PS3 to PS4 or 360 to One. You might be right. But, the Wii U isn't on that much of a greater level than the PS3/360 to begin with, if any. So, whilst the difference may be great, it's still going to be behind the PS4/One anyway... You buy a games console because you want it to be better than what you have currently, sure. But, you also expect it to somewhat compete with what's out there. You want the best console. Why wouldn't you? Nobody in their right mind would want to spend hundreds of pounds on a videogaming entertainment system and know that it can't compete with its competition. -
I've seen his name pop up quite a few times this season on United forums and it was expected that he would be one for the future. I'm a bit surprised he was given a start yesterday, but also not surprised because this is the exact thing that we should have done right from the start of the season. He's looked quite promising in the youth team. Tom Lawrence has spent a bit of time on loan this season and I haven't seen him mentioned as much as Wilson. They haven't been hyped up to be huge players, and I think expectations in youngsters has died down slightly ever since Macheda came along and faded away. However, the likes of Januzaj and Lingard have been tipped to have big futures at the club. I thought we played better yesterday than we did against Sunderland. The pace was better, although I'm shocked at just how much Foullaini is struggling. Finding him a position to fit in at United is going to be a struggle.

It was difficult reading that article. It won't really affect sales or dissuade people from buying the system though because there aren't a great deal of people interested in it in the first place. Somehow, Nintendo have managed to create a stealth console that the public don't know about. The amount of children who I work with on a day-to-day basis who simply don't know what the Wii U is or even know its name is staggering. It's sad walking into a supermarket and seeing a huge row of PS3/4 360/One games and maybe, if you're lucky, a tiny Wii U shelf right at the bottom of the Wii stuff. The more you say it to yourself, the more ridiculous it sounds. This is Nintendo. They're meant to be the ones ruling this market and instead they can't even get their games on supermarket shelves.

*looks at E3 prediction* "So is anyone changing their predictions for E3?" Nah.

It seems pretty cute, to me. It's meant to read like a fairy tale, which I think it does. It's humorous how the vast majority of it rhymes and it just fits together nicely. A definite plus point.
